The commentator at the end is Johnny Ervolino. I believe he played in his prime in the 50's, 60's, and 70's, when Mosconi and those guys played, and he was a great player, especially with one pocket and straight pool. He passed away 5 or so years ago I think, and up until a year or so before that he was still able to run quite a few in straight pool.

In 9-ball after the break, if the player at the table doesn't have a clear shot on the next object ball (in this case the 2) then he can choose to shoot a "push out". That means that they don't have to hit the object ball and can place the cue ball in a difficult spot for the opponent. The opponent then has the choice whether to shoot after the "push" or they can just pass on the shot and let the other player shoot. Efren played a "push out" and the other guy passed. Efren now gets to shoot.

The 2 ball was the next object ball. Efren didn't have a shot at it so he decided to "push out" and he shot the cue ball down table. He meant to hit the six and put the cue where he did making it difficult for his opponent to shoot the 2. And because Efren pushed out, his opponent has the decision to shoot from where the cue ball is, or pass on the shot and let Efren deal with the difficult shot. Efren then steps up and makes a great shot from a bad position
