When I first heard the Beatles speaking voices I could barley understand them, first time I had heard a Liverpool accent. I have meat other British singers and they told me they mimic an American accent on purpose. I have had some decisions with Sal Solo about this.
@jcrobso The Beatles definitely didn't sing with an American accent! Singing is very different to talking so I think most singers always sound different. Just listen to Adele sing and then listen to her talking afterwards. Very different. When singers do this it doesn't mean they are adopting a different accent, although some do, but The Beatles didn't.
@OldBarty23 When I was in rock bands many years ago, we did Mrs. Brown you got a lovely daughter cover. I sang the lead part and I worked hard to mimic Peter's accent. The other British singers that I have met have told me that would mimic and American accent.
They learned it by listening to the records, the same way I did. The Beatles probably did the same thing without thinking about it.

Adele is very real. That is what makes her such a star as well as the music she writes and sings. More than that though, she connects with her audience. They become part of her performance. She is not singing at them but for and with them. She reaches everyone in the audience, including those high up in galleries or at the back of an arena. I can think of only one other who did that. The great Freddie Mercury. His performance at Live Aid was the best example of this. So proud of Adele
