  • There are some SAE papers that deal with the amount of oil pressure you need to overcome centrifugal forces in the crank. Also, the bearing clearances and/or rod side clearances may not be consistent in your engine and this can lead to failure. Wild guess is that it is a side clearance issue.

  • I just won a Revell 1:3 Visible Turbo Engine on Ebay for $55 with shipping, major water damage to the box but other than that it's still sealed, I was wondering if you'd had any experience with this kit, I know I've read about nuts not fitting on these newer kits from your videos.

  • @ts46176 I don't know anything about that kit, but I think they are rare now and have not been for sale new from Revell for quite a while. The newer Visible V8s are now made in China and have metric nuts and bolts that cause some problems in assembly. I have ran into this problem. Also Vegetable oil will after a while will trash your engine. I found this out the hard way, the way I usually find things out.

  • @slinky460 Yeah, Revell said to use veg oil as lube, and in my kit (that I built 30 odd years ago) it also ruined my engine and parts. Went all gummy.

Revell were at least good enough to send me spares for free so I could rebuild..

BTW, I just love your vids Slinky. So cool.

  • why do you need water

  • @airsoftbravo271 This is oil for lubrication and cooling.

  • wow, when the stroboscope turns on, it makes your pistons look like they are going super slow
