  • This is about right. If this were a video about the top 10 pure goal scorers of all time...then i would have to greatly disagree

  • i would say they've got boss pegged right here. there is a lot of tremendous players he's up against and was blessed to be part of a such a great franchise. if we're talking goal scoring alone- well flip a coin gretzky, richard, brett hull or boss.

  • Best sniper winger ever was Brett Hull with 86 goals one year. Mogilny with 79. etc

  • One thing Bossy didn't do well was set up th other guy. Not an assister. Lafleur and Recchi both better from the walls. Gretzky had 163 assists on hear. Bossy never had that many total points. lafleur skated a bit better, and was a better set up man.. Gretzky twice as good and his humbers prove it. OBYW Kurri had 71 + 71, trumps mikey boy

  • This is why stupid islander fans shouldnt comment on youtube. You have to do more than score goals to be considered a great player.

  • His information is flawed. He states that both Bossy and Gretzky had 9 "consecutive" 50 goal season. that is not so. Bossy did just that. Gretzky however, in his ninth season, scored "only" 40 goals (scoring 50+ in his tenth). In those 10 years, Gretzky did score 637 goals, compared to Bossy's 573. GPG average, during those years....Gretzky 774 games = .823. Bossy 752 games = .762. Give Gretzky his props, but I would rather have Bossy.

  • @kyokogodai great perspective.

  • this is a disgrace to any hockey fan or hockey expert mike bossy was the best in front of wayne, mario, guy lafleur, phil esposito, gordie howe, bobby orr, mark messier, brian trottier, clark gillies, steve yzerman, marco sturm,

  • Had Bossy played with today's NHL rules re hooking, his stats would have been even higher at the end of his career.

  • @Magnanime30 They would say Mike Bossy was the greatest ever played.

  • HE RETIRED AT 30 in his DAM PRIME

  • Bossy at #10??? I don't think so. I grew up with those Islanders. Bossy was one of the very best!

Also, "him and Gretsky" makes my ears hurt.

  • Trottier should be on it. Lemieux tops my list.

  • This guy's list is ridiculous. Plus he has a lisp and is an obvious fag.

  • The New York Islanders 80s team is the most under rated dynasty of all time.

  • Boss one of the best snipers ever, that i cannot debate. However, how would he have ended up if he ended up in minnesota or hartford ? and not the islanders, who were possibly the greatest team ever. I think wayne or mario's careers would have been the same on any team.

  • Bossy should be #1

  • anyone who actually WATCHED hockey in the early 80s (rather than just seeing highlights) knows that Gretzky and Bossy were near equals in the talent department. Gretzky's legacy is much greater, and Bossy has always lamented that fact publicly. He is the greatest sniper of all time and it's not even close, he could easily be #2 on someone's all time top 10.

  • i never knew sisty was a number, Mike Bossy the best pure goal scorer in nhl history and hes ten gtfo --->

  • What ?? Maybe the dude should do some homework. Not quite 9 consecutive seasons of 50+ goals for Gretzky. More like 8! Bossy's the ONLY ONE who's got nine, and would have easily been 10 if it weren't for his back problems (spasms). Bossy IS the BEST goalscorer ever .... maybe Mario is better :-)

  • Looking at the players on this list, Bossy is better without a doubt than Messier and LaFleur. And you could pretty easily argue he is in the same league if not better than Esposito Hull and Beliveau.

I'd even compare Bossy to Howe and Richard, but there is where you start to run into the heated debates. So without much difficulty, Bossy moves up to at least 5th or 6th.

Personally, the only forwards who I rank as better than Bossy are Gretzky and Lemieux.

  • They put bossy at #10 that`s a fucking disgrace

  • 10 is fair, if not generous. Gretzky,Lemieux,Yzerman,Howe,Richard,Messier,Esposito,Trottier,Stastny,Modano,Sakic,Brett Hull,Bobby Hull,Lafleur,Jagr,Mikta,Dionne,Francis. Lots of players to consider boys. I know Bossy was a helluva goal scorer, but consider the era he played in and the fact he had a great center. Bossy was great no doubt. But his avg would have gone down if he played longer. Dont ignore that fact.

  • @tjcurrie

Messier, Stastny, Modano, Sakic, Francis, Jagr, Mikita, and LaFleur are not even remotely good comparisons to Bossy.

Yzerman, Esposito, Brett Hull, and Dionne are all great players, but none of them are as good as Bossy.

Let's not forget, the only people to score 500 goals faster than Mike Bossy are Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux. He scored nearly 600 goals in nine and a half seasons! If he played a full career, Gretzky's 894 goals would only be good for second all time!

  • Bossy was the man. i saw him play many times, he was pure magic.

  • 10 is an insult. one of the ten best players ever, not just forwards

  • bottomdogman you're a friggin boss! there's no argument that Bossy is the purest goal scorer of all time. imagine if he had been healthy and played another 10 seasons then we'd probably be saying "Gretzky who?"

  • Whoa whoa whoa Who are the shits that put this video together ??? You START the list at #10 with MIKE BOSSY ???? you fuckin END THE LIST WITH MIKE BOSSY !!!! The greatest goal scorer of all time . Not up for debate. #22 deserves much more respect

  • @bottomdogman Word, the FUCK, up. #10 indeed. Nonsense

  • @bottomdogman not #1 but #5

  • @bottomdogman I tend to agree. Top 5 at least.

  • Bossy was better than that. Best pure goal scorer ever. I rate him #3 top forward behind Gretzky and Lemieux. Bossy's numbers are simply amazing. Nine straight with 50 or more is astounding. Highest gpg avg ever. He also performed in the clutch and has 4 cups. #10 is an insult to this great HOFer.

  • Only number 10? Give me a break. Gretzky and Lemieux are 1 & 2. Bossy no lower than 5. Trottier and Messier also in the top 5 because of their all around game. Then you have guys like Esposito, Maurice Richard, and Lafleur.

  • Number 10.................Gimme a break. He was much better than that.

  • This is terrible.

Get your facts straight. Gretzky only had 8 straight 50 goal seasons, and he only had 4 straight 60 goal seaons.

  • Always remember yanks, he's from here! Not one of your fag states.

  • hell of a lisp y'got there bud

    ;)

  • bossy is better then gretzky

    best sniper ever

  • im an islander fan nd i love bossy but u gotta give credit where credit is do gretskey was a great goal scorer

  • Gretzky played in the wide open west. Put him in the east against the Bruins, Flyers and other defensive minded teams that hit a lot and hos scoring would have been much lower. Still a great player, but Gretzky was not the goal scorer Bossy was.

  • @TheJoeSShow best sniper definitely. Not best player. I would rank him in the top 6 though....

  • @TheJoeSShow Then how come Bossy never scored 92?? Dumb comment

  • Bossy was one of the best pure goal scorers in the history of the NHL. He would have gotten a few records if his career hadn't been cut short from injuries.

  • The best.

  • I always thought Trottier was overall a better player than Bossy

  • I am N.Y. Ranger fan. When Bossy entered the League Ranger's General Manager John Ferguson selected

Ron Duguay and Lucien Deblois) before the Islanders selected Bossy. How could he pass on Bossy twice? This was the biggest error any General Manger in Hockey ever made.

  • I have no love for the Rangers, I despise them until the day I die.

But Bossy was taken 15th overall, yes the Rangers had two picks, but that means 12 other teams didn't pick him and there were 20 teams back then.

  • You're not telling me anything I don't know.

You can despise the Rangers or anything until you die.

Hate can be a nutritious emotion.

Hope you will live a long life despising the Rangers and anything else you choose!

  • Thanks I will.

  • You're Welcome !

  • Wow man ur a dumbass. Gretzky never scored 50 goals in 9 straight years and neither bossy or gretzky even scored 60 goals for six seasons in total let alone for 6 consecutive seasons

  • The guy is not a hockey fan, you can hear he is just trying to do a job.

    Pretty sad though.

  • phil espo is not better than the boss and neither is LaFleur. You also forgot Bryan Trottier, who coined the term two-way center before Messier even played the position. Mess was a left winger when he entered the league. But who's complaining, at least you're honoring the greats of the game.

  • I agree that Espo wasn't better than Bossy but I even though I'm a lifelong Isles fan I can't say that Bossy was better than Lafleur. Bossy was a better goal scorer (not by all that much) but Lafleur was a better skater and playmaker. Lafleur was the best player in the NHL friom 1975 to 1980. Maybe it's a tie.

  • Some incorrect info here. Bossy didn't score 60 goals in a season 6 consecutive seasons. He scored 60 5 times and not in consecutive seasons.

  • True, but he still in my opinion is the best, the only reason Gretzky and others were thought of as better is because Bossy only played 9 seasons.

Bossy also could drop the gloves, something Gretzky sucked at.

  • This vid is also incorrect in that it says that Gretzky scored 50+ in 9 consecutive seasons. He did it 9 times, but only 8 consecutive, scoring "only" 40 in his ninth season. Bossy, however, did score 50+ in nine consecutive seasons.
