@nenabunena Nunchaku-Japanese, Leung Tiu Kwan-Chinese were an Okinawan tool used to thresh rice or soybeans (separate the grain from the husk). You are correct sir. It was Guro Dan who ,in his words "introduced" them to Sigung Bruce. Not the other way around. However, he did say the Sigung took them to another level. In 30+ yrs with him I have never seem him use them. They are not as primary as other weapons in the 12 caterories of FMA.
If the FBI had paid Bruce, Chuck and Dan to walk the streets disguised as ordinary weak ass civilians there might only be around 10% of American muggers still alive today......
@synthpathetic Hello, I dont teach Martial Arts any more, however the truth is there isnt one, this now a old super 8 film if you can get the complete film of this they should have on DVD now days will be good start and perhaps after 30 years like most Martial Artists you may come to understand is that all you want was in this sort film of basics about few weapons?, you decide, open your mind and don't limit your self. These weapons can be used with your hand to hand skills. For instance, while he looks at the weapons you can deliver a powerful kick to the leg then strike with the weapon and vice versa. Jab with the weapons, us it like a boxer and kick boxer would strike. Low strikes are the kicks, high strikes are the punches. Also, it can be used to choke an opponent.
@djptm2020 I think any name would be valid. It's just "nunchaku" is more common and especially western people know what one is talking about, right? I mean, threshing flails were a common tool all over Europe and Asia. Oh, and short typo: it's 'toyok' not 'tayok'.
Jerry Poteet? This video made before Bruce made anything? Dynamite movement and def. looks like entire implementation into the CC, WOTD, ETD, and all you Dan TGOD, Bruces fastest shuffle forward being expressed with that green stick, bad ass move!
Dan did teach Lee Kenpo and Kali styles as he was already Black belt in them when he met Lee but sure as shit Lee already knew the nunchaku. Dan was just better with them.
Contrary to what some people might think, a nunchaku is not a 'horribly difficult' weapon to understand. The one problem I see a lot of people run into when they first start to use them is that their hands are doing the movement and not the body. With nunchakus you have to use the core of your body as a pivot, and for me, the direction and energy comes from the elbows, not the hands.
lmao i tried perfecting nun chuks, its not like ping pong or biking it really fuckin hurts, youll be left with no penis, knee caps, shoulders, kidneys and your head will be like a mashed potatoe

Dan Inosanto is a true Philippine martial arts master!!! Eskrima, Jun Fan Gung Fu, Jeet Kune-Do.... a master of the kali sticks and nunchaku!!! I'm a Chinese blood Filipino but not a Fil-Chi.... i just have Chinese blood.... proud 2 hav Lee Jun Fan and Dan Inosanto's blood!!! Practicing Taekwon-do now(Blue 1 - belt).... i think what guro danilo inosanto is demonstrating is the pilipino version : the tabak toyok...but he uses the okinawan nunchuk instead hmm nice asian combo..im a filipino but ill say HUMAN PRIDE...MABUHAY ANG TAO...
JKD is not only about expressing the body but, more importantly, taking pieces of all martial art forms and applying it as needed in the form of expression. i cant believe ur comparing bruce lee to dan inosanto..lol der is no competition..inosanto is nuffin wid out his sticks..bruc was way to quick and power full..inosanto may have more experience now 30 years on but he is also too old nd aint as strong. bruce sidekicked ppl out of dis world, he broke boards at an ince..he created the unltimate fighting style..his style of fighting was all da best bits from other fighting styles all in one!! dont question bruce against inosanto..maybe da like of ali
danny is my sisters godfather and so u kno bruce did not use nunchucks before he met danny my dad trained with danny bruce and francis fong so to say that danny is not the truth or is no comparison is a ridiculous statement danny is much better with escrima but danny is a guru with nunchuk
Yapp. In shortest time, Dan was topped by Bruce. Same to other "theachers" of Bruce Lee.
One guy (forgot his name), made a deal to Bruce. He said:"Teache me in Cha Cha Cha and i will teach you in *whatever, i forgot*."
In 2 Weeks, BL learned nearly everthing and was a better Fighter in this Martial Art, then his teacher. And btw. the other guy cant do Cha cha cha till today. :)
that may be true in that day but if u take what dan inosanto knows now.. and put him up against bruce lee. with bruce lee knowing what he did then.. and dan would win
no actually bruce lee was no faster then the average martial artist of now adays.. bruce only had a 42 mile an hour punch.. martial artists now get way in to the hight 60s and early 70s.. and u forget dan has had 30 some year of training added to what he knew back then while useing jeet kune do to improve himself.. dan would win hands down
No Bruce was definitely faster then the martial artist of today. Thats bs the fastest punch is a wing chun punch. It was definitely believed that Bruce was the fastest. Are you kidding about Bruce not being faster than the average martial artist of today. I've seen some well trained martial artist and they all claim Bruce was definitely faster.
thats a bunch of bullshit bruce lees fastest punch was around 42 miles an hour the average martial artist of today can punch almost as fast not if faster then 42 mile an hour and no the fastest punch is not a wing chun punch the world record holder is a man from pekiti tersia and his punch is around 88 miles per hour
Please give me a link to this I cannot find it at all. Why is it that it is not a world record. From what I see is 43 something mph as the fastest punch. That was 3 months ago. Wing Chun is the fastest punch. It is a direct line punch. I am talking about second to reach the opponent. Bruce Lee from his hands at his side could punch someone and was clocked at .05 of a second. If all you did was train your punch you can punch fast. They had to film Bruce Lee in 32 fps to capture Bruce's movement
actually the world record is way faster then 42 or 43 miles per hour bruce lees atacking speed for 3 feet was 500thrs of a second which is only 42 mile an hour. oh and yeah with the cameras of the time every one had to be filmed at higher frames per second
oh and no wing chun doesnt have the fastest punch and neither does it have the most effective punch there are alot of guys who can punch faster and better then wing chun fighters in wing chun your simply punching the shortest distance that dont make it the fastest punch
i didnt see it on line it was on documentaries and books. oh and yeah if u already stated that bruce lees attacking speed for 3 feet was 500ths of a second and if u do that math thats 42 miles per hour
Let's think about this if you have to travel further than it takes longer to get there. Let me tell you you remind me of all the others out there. Black belt in keyboard. Listen the average time it takes for a straight punch is .14 seconds. The average wing chun punch is .11 seconds. The wing chun punch is the fastest punch on average. You haven't met a lot of people that do wing chun. If you did then you would know that it is the fastest.
actually i have a black belt in kyukashin i also have a black belt in kendo and kali i have trained in jeet kune do and in wing chun i have plenty of friends who are experts in wing chun and they are not the fastest people out there a wing chun punch only travels a shorter distance hence it gets to its enemy first yet there are plenty of men from other styles of martial arts that can strike further distances in the same amount of time aswell as less time. where link to .14 and .11
They are actually in the book My life with Wing Chun by William Cheung. It was proven scientifically that the Wing Chun punch travels the shortest distant. as well as those times. Well most of your friends must suck at Wing Chun. Cause just cause you know something doesn't make you good. Most of these so called wing chun fighters suck. A lot of them don't know how to fight. Bunch of schools don't teach how to deal with take downs and stuff. Your friends must not train hard.
you seriously are an idiot arnt u. i already said that a wing chun punch travels a shorter distance. but is not the same thing as being the fastest oh and yeah all of my friends were trained in authentic wing chun and train in wc aswell as isometrics calisthetics and weight training 7 days a week on average 4 to 5 hours a day. so they know how to fight . and i dont care what some book by william cheung says there has never been an actual scientific test done to prove wc has the fastest punch
Fastest all depends on how you look at it though. Say for instance we accept the .11s and .14s times as valid. You would be correct in saying my punch makes it to the target first with the Wing Chun style, so you have a legitimate argument that that style of punch is fastest. However if I were to take a longer route but hit the person at 50 mph but it takes .14s to get there I also have an argument that my punch is fastest. Considering Kinetic energy's has a square relation to velocity it is big
