A chinchilla cage needs to be much bigger than this, and not a tank, a cage as chinchillas are very active animals and enjoy climbing, which is why a big and tall cage is most suited. This is only a temporary tank right? Because its much too small.....
my dad used to raise chinchilla's. You do not put them in a fish tank!! They should be in a cage. Ours had a run behind the cages & the males could go to any female they wanted. The females had collars on. And where they took their baths wasn't some small bowl it was a big pan.
@NancyDYork once again your dad raised chinchillas, so he'd have a big pan in case more than one wanted to bathe, thus a small bowl makes sense for a BABY chinchilla.
@1234567gdog they need the right air ventilation and they would be uncomfortable. which makes them stressed and they get hot when they're stressed and they cant cool themselves off.
@BioformerCorviz No...it's just the region where they are found has some volcanoes, and the dust from them is good for their fur. That's why they recreate this stuff and you can buy it in a pet store for your Chin.
@K0beC Stop spamming the chinchilla videos. This is the 4th or 5th comment you've posted on a 'chilla video. So stop. (You are baiting. So I bit it. So what. You dont know me. You cant hurt me! You ain't got no pancake mix!!)
@All people K0beC has offended- He is trolling. Dont worry, almost no one uses 'chilla fur anymore, and when they do they are killed humanely. No living person who isnt already on death row kills chinchillas like that.
I love skinning these animals for their fur and selling them to Michael Kors and Versace. As for the ones who chew their fur I vent my rage for the profit they have lost me so they are subject to slow deaths, sexual tortures, and being burned alive. As I kill these densely-furred beasts I get a big erection, even at times telling my girlfriend to wear a the pelt of a chinchilla on her head during sex (or back when it's doggy-style) so it is something for me to look at while I'm on top.
thanks for pointing that out britney we just got one and i read that it is so important for them to have the proper climate in the home, starting with the right cage.petco will price match so look on amazon for a good price, we got a ferret cage and its perfect because it has three levels and is plenty big.he loves it.
@gerbilmaster21 Chinchillas bathe in dust and it's wired into their systems before birth. Gerbils are from a different environment so they won't know what that stuff is.
@demonflayme6 I have a chinchilla and for some dumbass reason he never rolls around in his dust... on the other hand he enjoys going over to his chalk stone and try to roll up against that instead :p
@reecieboii You obviously know nothing about Chinchilla health and wellbeing. I have had Chins for about 10 years-they have 80 to 100 hairs per individual folicle. They over heat VERY easily. Keeping a chin in an aquarium is dangerous.
@hobogirl1254 Ok Hobogirl, she just got her chinchilla and it looked fine! Just lay off her, thats not the full size of the tank! why cant you people just say stuff nice... lay off her. :-/
@icygirl8199 I never said anything about the person who posted. Just to the idiot who thought it was ok to keep a chin in an aquarium all the time. Just for a dust bath is fine! Follow the convo- I have zero problems with the poster- only idiots in the comment section
Did I ever tell you the time I took it upon myself to exterminate some fur-chewing chinchillas? You see their pelts would be deemed unsuitable for Jean-Paul Gaultier so I took a bunch of them, put them into my oven like the Jews at Treblinka, set the oven on "self-cleaning" mode, and sat back and watched. I got aroused watching their failed escape attempts as they burned to death, they shrieked EEEK EEEK EEEK EEEK and five minutes later they turned to ash. I think I'll try Zyklon-B next time.
I work at a fur ranch where I have to keep chinchillas clean via routine dust baths like this one. One time I gave a bath to a few fur-chewing rejects so as the three girls were bathing I added powdered sodium hydroxide to the mix. The three chinchillas started screaming as they were being burned by the corrosive substance and their skin and fur became slippery. I loved the smell of their insides and I started masturbating as I watched the horrid spectacle.
I began to ejaculate when I sensed their lives and pitiful souls leaving their bodies. I took the burned, corroded husks of dead chinchilla and began to make soap out of them, and with a little fragrance chemicals I had myself half a bar of new bath soap which I use to shower and bathe with every day. If anyone wants a bar of soap made from dead chinchilla please send me a message. Thank you.
geez this is what i call an inresponable chinchilla owner chinchilla's should never be in a one leveled cage and even worst a glass tank this chinchilla will end up dying due to heat issues.and if you got a glass tank and cheap bedding because or ur money issues you shouldnt have got a chinchilla the bedding will cause a respatory problem. i could actaully call animal control, because keeping a baby chinchilla in a tank is asking for a death sentence
chinchillas arent supposed to be held in a fish tank get a proper cage

@basketball727 no your never supposed to expose your chinchilla to water. Their fur is too think and the water will mold in it.

chinchillas should not be in an aquarium. they need somewhere to jump and also it does not provide enough air/ventilation.
