That by which man's plight has led a bestial and undeniable slaughter of millions, and we're still adding gas to the fire. • Nice song. Hmm, for those who always nagging about the first nationality of Black Metal etc. Can read this: The 5 bands that where in an undergenre for metal was Bathory, Sweden, Mayhem, Norway, Mercyful Fate, Denmark, Hellhammer (or as they now are known as Celtic Frost), Switzerland, and Sarcófago, Brazil. These bands started 1982-83 to play their undergenre for metal, but yet they didn't know what to call it, until Venom came out with their Trash-album Black Metal. So the undergenre was born

  • This is what they call "The first wave" of the undergenre called Black Metal. Venom was not even a black metal-band as many ppl think because they got a album named BM. But it was the name these 5 first bands took for the undergenre they plays. So you can say that in fact, Black Metal's nationality are: Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland and Brazil. These countries are the birth of Black Metal. Period. If some stupid fuckup thinks CoF or Dimmu started the black metal. The go and start read.

  • what a fucking failed retard with half a tit can you be to think that Dimmu Borgir and CoF started BM

  • not refairing to you just wondering how such ppl can exist

  • Well, unfortunately, there exist people like that. Boys and girls, trying to be cool listening at just 2 bands of black metal and then calls them self for satanists, and those happens to be Dimmu Borgir and CoF, and then they thinks that the band was first on earth with Black Metal. Trust me, I have met a few persons like that, and I can say: I had a nice laughter that evening, and they had no IQ or what so ever.

  • i am damm sure i would have a nice laughter aswell

  • You're right, ignorance of where a subgenre of music originated from is directly related to a person's IQ.

  • undergenre. undergenre. undergenre. undergenre. undergenre. undergenre.

    undergenre.

oh, you ziltoid the omniscient, will you also please break down the whole history of heavy metal, for we mere mortals can not seem to be able to do it. undergenre.

  • i bought "fathers of the icy ages" on an impulse and i was rather surprised at how good these guys are

  • atmosphere is perfect

  • epic song

  • Finally an album that can compete with The Works Which Transform God

  • french black metal rule

blut aus nord, deathspell omega glorior belli

antaeus merrimack orthodox and avaant garde BM

  • Vindsval : "Blut Aus Nord is an artistic concept. We dont need to belong to a specific category of people to exist. If black metal is just this subversive feeling and not a basic musical style, then Blut Aus Nord is a black metal act. But if we have to be compared to all these childish satanic clowns, please let us work outwards [from] this pathetic circus. This form of art deserves something else than these mediocre bands and their old music composed 10 years before by someone else"

  • Good quote, I like the new BM coming out because it works away from Satanism and into the true, darker nature of the human id.

  • @Reprobote Thats the most pretentious thing I've heard all day. Actually all month for that matter.

  • @Reprobote I undertand where your coming from concerning ecology, but in regards to the fundamentals of ecology; it still assumes the position; such as that of anthropology in being that of hindering a false pretense and basically just exploiting something with that which is meaningless within the restraints of nothingness, these branches of "knowledge" still just came from something that thought to whisper, or otherwise let corrupt and murderous words flow from the mouth; like black serpents.

  • @Reprobote <3

  • Well, you are right.. But it really did start with Bathory.

Venom coined the therm "Blackmetal", but the music did'nt have its modern-day structure, and was'nt even a building brick of it.

It began with Bathory, then Hellhammer, Mercyful Fate, etc.

Which led to Mayhem, Darkthrone, etcetc.....

  • Indeed. I think it's funny that so many people coin Bathory as being the first "Viking Metal band" when they were ALSO the first band to really SOUND Black Metal. While Venom might have coined the term, I think it's fair to say that Bathory was the first band to really emerge as a real "black metal" band musically.

    Quorthon...such a great man....

  • Yeah, I hate it that Quorthon does'nt get the credit he deserves...

  • So true, Quorthon deserves more credit in the BM scene.

the self-titled album "Bathory" needs more credit.

Venom's song "Black Metal" was more of trash. Bathory was straight up BM.

  • Why are people bitching about the fact that only people of norwegian descent can make blackmetal..

Almost every blackmetal band cites Venom as an influence, and they were british...

  • Yeah Venom was a British influence, and the first real black-metal band ever, Bathory, was swedish... In the end why the hell care about the nationality of a band and not just their music ? "Hey this music is good ! Where do they come from ? France ? Ok it's not norway so the music is shit" ... I mean come on ...

  • Yeah you're right! Arkhon Infaustus and Deathspell Omega for instance, come from France and they are great! Norway has great blackmetal too, but you should not seclude a band on where they come from.

  • Agree. Im from norway and im sick and tired og explaining the same thing over and over again. Norway made way for many bands in the 90`s.The genre didn't start there, as such, but some of the most memorable innovators of the genre call my frosty land home.

  • great great song

  • 10/10

  • I'm sensing a lot of bias in Kthonix's argument...oh, well look at that. "Country: United Kingdom." People will always argue about this, you're getting nowhere. OMG VENOM NAMED IT AND SUNG ABOUT SATAN!!!!!!!!!!! Lulzworthy.

  • Their lyrics aren't specifically about Odin, it's just an exemple of religion they chose to illustrate the alienation made by religion, hence the subtitle: "the destruction of reason by illumination". And by calling them nazi it shows you know NOTHING about Blut aus Nord...

  • Well the subtitle was actually made by Aleister Crowley... And I don't think they exactly "flamed" Odinism but whatever ...

  • I wasn't a big fan of this album. I really freaking love their new album though.

  • Blut aus Nord and Arckanum are the best!!!

  • Beautiful!

  • SWEEEEEEEEEETTT!!!

  • yea but they're in alot of denial hahaha

Making a religion out of mocking other religions and being against herd conforming is like making an Anarchist convention.... it just doesnt work.

  • "Le Christ est un anarchiste qui a réussi. C'est le seul."andré malraux-l'espoir

  • if there's one word to describe b.a.n., it's: SICK.

  • A truly great black metal band doesnt rely on satanic imagery for their evil ideals.

That's why I've been straying away from black metal lately, it seems all the same.

At least people outside of Norway can come up with original ideas. Norwegian metal would be amazing if every band didnt sound the same.

Isnt that one of Anton LaVey's teachings anyways? To stray from herd conformity?

  • fuck Anton LaVey

  • Thats my point. Even a religion founded on not following blindly is full of people who follow Anton blindly and call everyone else sheep herders if they believe differently from them.

  • There is an awful lot of Black Metal from Norway that does all the sound the same, if you look around though(at the right bands)there is definite progression and change in the genre. I tend to avoid the tinny sound and high pitched screaming because it doesn't appeal to me personally and there are about 100 of these bands that all sound the same. But to say all the Black Metal (and black metal influenced) bands out of Norway all sound the same tells me you're missing some pretty damn good music.

  • BaN are french...

  • I was responding to an earlier comment here...for some reason youtube tends to often not show that.

  • Good thing I don't give a crap....I listen to what appeals to me regardless of whatever people decide to call it or where it's from.

  • Given the genre was created in Newcastle, England, that's a bizarre claim to make. Were you born with your head up your arse or did listening to Darkthrone play the same song for 15 years put it there?

  • They had a song called black metal, but the musical genre of black metal is represented by Norwegian bands. Black Metal is Norwegian. Norway perfected Newcastle's heavy metal to Black Metal.

You are the one with the head up your ass, having to say all extreme metal is black metal to keep your image.

  • More accurately, they had an album called black metal that originated the genre and involved the theatrical occult and severity that would be taken on board by Norwegian BM which would influence other evolutions of the genre.

Black Metal is not Norwegian. Norwegian BM is Norwegian. Not all extreme metal is black metal by any means. BM is a style with global appeal and contribution, regardless of what a few feckless darkthrone fans say, listening to the same song for 15 years.

  • You are one stupid idiot.

  • Actually, no. I really do think you're an idiot to be honest.

  • Nobody who is actually informed thinks you're right, obviously. Head up your own ass, much?

  • Enjoying being one of the masses? Can't make your own opinion?

  • Bathory-Sweden

    Celtic Frost-Switzerland

    Venom-England

    Hellhammer-Switzerland

    Tormentor-Hungary

    Sodom-Germany

    Destructor-Germany.

I think my point has been made but in case your small brain can't process that, Black Metal started everywhere and is currently being made everywhere. Do your research next time.

  • I see a list of Heavy metal bands and one Viking Metal band.

  • I see an idiot who knows nothing of the history of Metal because if you did, you would know that those listed below are, in fact, originators of Black Metal. It's called the First Wave of Black Metal. Do your damn research.

  • But you said your point is that it "started everywhere and is being made everywhere" after that list, emphasizing that those bands were still Black Metal.

However, I do understand the point you were putting, though you failed to emphasize how its made everywhere, since all those bands were European.

There are some Japanese BM bands...

  • kvlt

  • I just know these guys, WITTR, and Cradle arent satanic.

  • Yeah and WITTR can make great black metal without relying on satanic references

  • black metal is more popular than ever, along with death metal and country. All other music is losing its fanbase.

  • You're joking right? If not, please elaborate so that everyone can laugh at your stupidity...

  • The son of hoarfrost!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Erm u could try hip hop which the tunes are all copy and paste. =)
