Shame really, all this backbiting. We live roughly 5000 miles from Portland and the only reason we know the place is because of some of the bands. Big up from Utrecht, loved the ancient Poison Idea stuff.
The best Portland bands, The Wipers, Poison Idea, Rancid Vatt, Final Warning... Jello Biafra, some others, Count Vertigo, Sado Nation, Tradition Dictates, Neo Boys, E-13, ummm, who cares at this late date?
@oggwogg the only band worth anything here is poison idea. the sad thing is that they fucking housed most bands in entire genre at this time yet cock polishers like biafra got way too much credit from the marxo-fascist press. that's how it is though. thank the fucking gods that shit doesn't fly in L.A. the underground bands got all the credit back then.
@forward300 I couldn't agree more, I can't stand that poser biarfa. It's like he just leeches on to every scene he can. he's from colorado anyway, then he leached off of frisco. I'm from L.A. and we had the first hardcore bands in the u.s. but ive always had a fondness for poison idea, even if they're from portland.
@TheNewMusicNetwork yea i dont know why people look to him like he speaks for all of the hardcore scene. but no one gives a fuck that you're from L.A., fag why dont you shut the fuck up. Poison idea was one of the best hardcore bands ever, better than any LA band. eat a dick you hollywood bitch
@TheNewMusicNetwork haha you suburban l.a. fags may have killed hardcore, but you sure as hell didn't create the scene douchebag. why do you think all the good la bands turned on the scene after all those trendy rich punks turned pussy. besides black flag and circle jerks those bands you listed are actually surprisingly shitty. get over yourself you hollywood fag. did i really hurt your feelings that bad that you had to comment on the last five posts i made? lol fucking pathetic
the sex and drug talk y'all are having is fun gossip stuff but it doesn't take away from the fact that was good rock and roll. boohoo to you who felt left out. do something else, that's what the documentary talks about anyway. this was a moment of time. it was worth recording to history (I know that he who records makes, but if you've got a gripe, make your own documentary), thanks to the makers for the great footage. cheers.
The Bob Zombies were the band at 0:43. Sten now plays with the Oblivion Seekers out of Portland. I played with The Cleavers, the band at 0:28 for awhile, but I don'y appear in this documentary. Either does my first band, The Inputs (boo!). But on the back cover is a poster from a show the two bands did together (yay!). Great times those were.
The DK's of course weren't from up there but seemed to play enough shows with most of the bands in question to be appropriate for the movie...which was awesom except for the noise tracks that were playing too loud over the interviews.
Does anyone know where to find stuff from the band Stand?
We played @ the Hawthorne Theater with the unseen this week. If you want to see some Punk Rock that's still alive and relevent, check out my videos from the show.
I've been playing in one punk group or another in Portland for the last 13 years. I think the Portland scene is often overlooked. A lot of great bands have come out of here.
Mish from Sado Nation is a SLUT! If you are one of the many guys that had a one night stand with her then go get tested! All you sluts make me sick! POISON IDEA is great (on a lighter note) :)
She had a one night stand with my best friends boyfriend. Plus, I've heard she has given numerous other guys an STD. I don't have any respect for people like her!
Actually it IS her fault-she made the decision just as much as the guy did to have a one night stand with each other. I don't have respect for people that go out and have one night stands. I think it's immoral, trashy and disgusting.
@pinupgirlprincess Very good !!! How nice you know of people mentioned in this movie, you are practically famous!! You heard she gave people STDs? Did you know she worked in healthcare and it is highly unlikely that any kind of a medical ailment she had would go unchecked or ignored? Poison Idea said they gave you more turns than a doorknob.... at least that is what I heard.
I was there watching it all happen. Didn't realize the impact at the time. I was wishing that I had been of age during haight/ashbury. Now I look back with pride for having been a part of the underground scene in Portland.

@forward300 <---------hippie tree hugging fag-bitch, know your role+ shut your vagina hole little bitch-girl.
you cock polishing pansies were still pogoing in 1982 while L.A. was in its second wave of hardcore.
We created the scene. you losers just copied + failed miserably at it.
btw, not from hollywood. hollywood didn't have a hardcore scene, places like hermosa beach was the first area for it.
the circle jerks, black flag, middle class, dickies, detours, tsol, d.i. etc fucking housed P.I.
