@locouk Sure, but unfortunately this plane is out of stock according to nitroplanes website. However, if you go to nitroplanes website and click on Ready-to-Fly airplanes and find Trainers and Gliders, there is quite the selection of beginner aircraft there. Thanks for your comment.
novices should always buy a pusher prop. as front prop and motors always get wrecked when you hit the ground. wild hawk is a safe bet with the prop in a safe area.
i have a super lightning from hobby people. it looks exactly like the wild hawk. never used a flight simulator yet. i practiced on the storm launcher before thying this plane. i plan on getting the wild hawk as it's the same plane. it files well. i can land it well too. yet crashes, even small ones are inevitable. but it's all good and a fun plane to fly. are you going to change your motor to brush less? the stock motor is great but i want to cruise my plane. brush less motor youcould
Use hot glue to attach - 1/8" X 6" carbon bar along belly, centered where the tail boom meets the main body. This will keep your tail from snapping off at this weak point. Also glue small carbon rods along the sides, starting at about 2" from the nose tip, going straight back. These will keep your nose from snapping off if you dive hard into the ground.
i have a wild hawk on on the first and last flight crashed it. i glued it back together and it should still fly but i don't want to crash it in the snow so i'm waiting to try again in spring. the first time i tried to fly it i don't think i had enough space. i was just wondering how hard it is to learn to fly
A flight simulator is the best way to learn how to fly. You can crash and crash and crash, and it doesn't cost a dime. The Wild Hawk is a good plane to learn on once you get the simulator mastered. Learning to fly isn't very difficult, but learning to land is, and if you can't land, then your airplane is only good for one flight. I wish you the best of luck with your Wild Hawk, and thanks for the comment.
i bet, how to trim the stock wildhawk( with all its inherent lift) is to floor it and trim the elevator down till its not trying to nose stall- i never got it figgerd out (till now)?
a beatiful flight very cool but i have a question from germany :,,how long you can fly the wild hawk ?? and how long you have to download the wild hawk. greetings from germany
i spent my battery in the air today on my hawk- EUREKA - weeks and weeks of crashing -only can attribute my success to cutting out the wall in front of the battery and moving the battery forward as far as i could- not tail heavy anymore - a passers by said it was a beautiful flight, i thanked him- i could touch and go, and did twice, my added rudder didnt hurt at all, meat tray foam taped on, just ordered a 1400mah 8.4 and a smart charger - i read in a blog no plane should be tail heavy
where can i get the phantom? also im looking for a good starter 3d heli. im wanting to get one from nitroplanes what would you suggest? also considering the ESC because i dont want to burn one up :( Thanks!
I bought my Firebird Phantom from HobbytownUSA is Sioux Falls, SD. It can be purchased at just about any hobby shop. If they don't have it, they can probably order it for you. I don't know much about 3d helis. I'm not into helis as much as nightflyyer is.
Well, pink is a pretty color too. LOL. This plane belongs to a friend of mine, otherwise I'd make a few changes to it, but it flies just fine stock....even if it were pink. LOL. Thanks for the comment.
Hmmm....I don't know. That's a toss-up. I'd have to say the Firebird Phantom is easier to fly, and the Wild Hawk is bigger and can't take as much wind. I like them both equally, but I think the Phantom can be flown in more extreme (windy)conditions than the Wild Hawk.
I don't think that is possible with the stock radio because the transmitter is only 3 channel. I do know of at least one person who eliminated the rudder and added ailerons. It looked like it flew even better than it already does.
I added ailerons to mine and ran them on the same channel as the rudder. Worked pretty well. I tested the idea on FMS simulator first. My first two videos are of the plane in that configuration. "Wild Hawk RC Plane FPV" and "Wild Hawk RC Plane FPV -The Windy Day". It's a great plane for a beginner like me!
Well, the guy that actually owns this plane has very little flight time under his belt, and he can fly it okay. So yeah, it's a good beginners plane, but it can't take much wind. It has to be flown on a relatively calm day. Thanks for watching and for the comment, Bryan.
Hey Jeff. I bought this plane on monday and i will be getting it on friday thanks to ups! And what would you say the max wind you would wanna fly this plane in, and can it glide around good because of the huge wings? And how strong in general is this plane?
I'd have to say less than a 10 mph wind. Actually 10 mph is pushing it since it has such large wings and only steers with the rudder. A couple other tips are to GLUE in the tail assembly as the double sided tape that it comes with is too weak and allows the tail to move around thus giving you less or NO control. Also this plane is slightly tail heavy so set up the elevator with a little bit of down attitude, otherwise it will not want to come out of the sky. Good luck and happy flying!
Oops, sorry.....I'm at a friends house this morning and I answered your question on his youtube account. So the beerdreamer answer is actually from me.
Nice flying Jeff, when I try to fly when it's that cold out, my servo's don't move correctly, their real twichy and stiff, don't know how you and Dave do it, But you do!!
Well, if you figure in the wind chill, then I suppose it would have been closer to freaking 8 degrees. LOL. Thanks for the comment and rating, and as always, thanks for watching.
Nice flight and awesome landing Jeff. I know what you mean about the cold. Flying in the cold sucks when the fingers get numb and wearing gloves is a hassle. I have a project for you and Dave to work on over the winter and you guys can even keep the patent rights...heated joysticks! lol!
Well, thank you 10 times! In one of my other videos somebody had the comment that I sucked at flying rc airplanes. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the comment and rating.
I agree. The only problem I had when Vic first bought the plane was the tape/adhesive that came with it wasn't strong enough to hold the tail in place. I ended up using glue, but not before I crashed it into the pump house twice. Ever since then, not a problem, and it's a lot of fun to fly.
Hi jeff and great flight mate,i wasout today with the firebird phantom and it was only 7 or 8 deg as well mate,so i know how you feel out there but it's always worth it lol,oh and 10 /10 for the landing man,5*
You got that right...colder than hell, but we die hard rc pilots just grin and bear it. It'll warm up soon, hopefully. Thanks for the comment, compliment, and rating. Cheers
Hi Jeff, I like the way you fly. You actually turn to the right sometimes. I get tired of watching all these NASCAR pilots who only know how to fly in left-hand circles. lol
Hi Jeff, would you recommend this plane to a beginner in RC airplanes? I want one thats stable, idiot proof and easily repaired.
Thanks.

Good "preemptive" mods for your Wild Hawk:
Use hot glue to attach - 1/8" X 6" carbon bar along belly, centered where the tail boom meets the main body. This will keep your tail from snapping off at this weak point. Also glue small carbon rods along the sides, starting at about 2" from the nose tip, going straight back. These will keep your nose from snapping off if you dive hard into the ground.

how much money does a simulator cost
AirsoftStaffSGT1 1 year ago
Depends on what you get. You can spend up to a couple hundred dollars on one. The best one for the money is at rcflightsim(.)com
Winston51249 1 year ago
Realflight G4 = $200
a basic E-sky sim (not as realistic as G4) = $20
