According to compubox(meaningless&inaccurate but pactards have taken an affinity for it since Nov) JMM was MORE CONSERVATIVE with punches thrown in rounds: 1(32), 2(30), 5(34), 6(28...huh?), 7(31), and 8(34) than he was in rounds 9(56),10(37), 11(36), and 12(36). So according to compubox, JMM was just as active in the last 3 rounds as he had been at any other point of the fight.

But Manny was pressing the whole fight, and that counts for a lot with some judges. 90% is hyperbole, but a lot of people thought Marquez did enough to win. But doing enough to win and not getting the nod ain't getting robbed. Holyfield in the olympics got robbed.

Sometimes a guy just has another guys number. It's that simple. It would be a mistake to extrapolate too much out of that. It could mean that a top quality boxer at the top of his game is going to give Manny a very hard time. Or it could mean that Marquez is unique. The only way to find out is pretty obvious.

As much as Marquez is a tremendous warrior and certainly possibly won, how on earth can you say he was "robbed" ? I personally scored it 7-5 to Pacquaio but its a matter of opinion and i completely understand if someone has it the opposite way for Marquez but in no way should you put either fighter down simply because you believe the other won. @ace12333794 points are given on the basis of each round, i agree pacquiao got several awesome combo's in and some really good punches however... those were in the few rounds that he won, dunno if you noticed but marquez dodged the majority of pacquiao's punches and in the majority of rounds were pacquiao punched nothing but air, marquez counterpunched him with epic combinations, i had it 7 rounds to marquez, it shudna been a majority decision, at the very least, it should have been a draw

How can you say you win this fight when all you do is too move backwards & wait for pacquiao to punch first then you will try to counter punch then runaway, all the time & whenever you move forward, it is to step on Pacquiao foot to prevent him from moving, it was like trapping him to force him to fall. There were a number of close rounds which could have gone either way. "Win period" means it's not up for discussion. It's definitely up for discussion. It was a very close fight. Marquez can't bitch. The fight was too close for that. He didn't control the rythem of the fight, Manny was the aggressor the entire fight, and Marquez could not put Manny down.

@logprome3 I disagree. Manny has an aggessive style which has worked for him. He's done what nobody else could do. If Marquez fought Clottey, he'd be annihiliated, and quickly. But Marquez understands how Manny's offense works and is able to counter it. Every fighter has an achilles heel if you can figure it out. Marquez has, and Manny hasn't been able to figure out how to deal with that.

I just thought that Marquez landed the harder, cleaner shots. But Manny was pressing the whole fight, and that counts for a lot with some judges. 90% is hyperbole, but a lot of people thought Marquez did enough to win. But doing enough to win and not getting the nod ain't getting robbed. Holyfield in the olympics got robbed.

@Prem488 It's too hard to say whether this is what happens when you put "a true boxer in front of Manny who isn't drained" or this is what happens when you put Marquez in front of Manny. Sometimes a guy just has another guys number. It's that simple. It would be a mistake to extrapolate too much out of that. It could mean that a top quality boxer at the top of his game is going to give Manny a very hard time. Or it could mean that Marquez is unique. The only way to find out is pretty obvious.

This wasn't robbery, but it was very close and I had it for Marquez 115-113. But a lot of close rounds. Assess one for Pacman that I gave to Marquez and it's the other way around.

last week I posted on this video on how i felt marquez won. I origionally watched the fight online (streaming), the fight kept on pausing, and the picture was a bit distorted. I watched the fight yesterday on my big screen, and watched a totally different fight! @reece9886 I don't think he could. His high work rate was a reflection of his dominance. You can't do that when you are getting popped every time you throw a combination. It slows you down. The problem with Manny is Marquez. They fight again, you will get the same result.

Marquez can complain all he wants but its way too exaggerated, and he should just look at it like this: The aggressor is always more exciting than the person waiting. Simple! If Manny did exactly as Marquez, the fight would have been slow and boring. Manny took risks in getting hit as the aggressor to give the fans a show. Just giving credit where credit is due!

If you know anything about boxing it doesn't matter who is more exciting or the technique the fighter is using (aggressor/defendor) What matter are the punches connected. Marquez was counterpunching as his technique because he knew that is the way to beat pacquiao as he did in the fight. If you saw the same fight that I saw Marquez ended with more points than Pacquiao.

@elpicklish Firstly im neutral and not mexican or filipino. Are you? The aggressor/defendor is an important aspect. Manny was more active in coming forward.. if Manny had relied on waiting and counter punching, he would have won by more points maybe? The point is Marquez did'nt earn the title convincingly. If he had knocked him down for the first time in his career then maybe! If Marquez came forward more as the aggressor then maybe the decision for the judges would have been different.

@1SugarRayRobinson1 I did too. But there were a lot of close rounds, and Manny was pressing the action. Marquez was countering effectively, but he certainly wasn't dominant. He can't really complain. Lots of close runds, you can't put your opponent down... Marquez reamains subject to hyperbole. It certainly wasn't a robbery.

Manny shook his head after the fight, not because he lose, but he knew that most of his fans bet for a knockout and they didn't make money. I lost $100 for KO bet against the Mexican, well, I blamed myself, losing is all part of gambling. I respect Manny for his thoughts "Don't I have the right to win a close fight? Marquez is a tough opponent. I'm not a superman". The fight was a good one, no regret buying HBO. Every Pacquiao fight is barbecue and drinks time with friends and relatives.
