This is pretty dark, but Lou Reed's "Berlin" gets my vote for most depressing. That album gets to the very essence of what it is like to be deeply DEEPLY hurt by someone you love more than anything and how it feels to hurt them back.
Anyways, I probably should have written that on a Lou Reed video, but my point is still valid. =P
I don't think so , to each his own , i'd have to go with " closer" by joy division or "songs of moors & misty fields" by empyrium and "seventeen seconds" by the cure those are for me the three most depressing albums i've ever heard.
I would just like to add David Bowie's "Low" onto that list, as well as Bauhaus' "Mask."
With Bowie, it was less his vocal tracks (who could possibly be depressed when listening to "Sound And Vision") but by the time "Always Crashing In The Same Car" and the synth songs came in, the man had laid the foundation for Joy Division and the brooding sound of goth rock.
Bauhaus just hits you in the face, reflects on how pointless what you hold dear is, and does it all over those dark guitar lines
This is about as painful as it gets. This song is so hopeless, it makes me want to curl up and writhe in pain - which I used to do while listening to this, many a nights of my youth. Glad that's all behind me, but the feeling this song conveys lasts forever.
This is the best of their darkest work. Followed by "The Figurehead". An opinion, of course..
Some others that come close would be "Faith", "Same Deep Water As You" and "Homesick".
@IseeNow96 No. Emos listen to EMO ROCK, believe it or not. This is goth rock, and the whole album Pornography was written before the emo subgenre even existed!
pornography is sooo great , so deep , i remember when i bought this album .. seventeen seconds + faith + pornography + disintegration = their best albums by far !
what songs do you think are the highlights of the cure?
See my channel and let's have a talk about what songs I should add or remove.

This song makes me quite happy and euhoric to be honest - no, not 'circus-happy' of course ;)

No such thing as 'their best song'.The Cure has made several great songs, but in their uniqueness, impossible to compare.
17seconds, Other Voices, Three Imaginary Boys, A Forest..... All unique and genius...
