Hmmmmm... I thought it would be less fancy and luxurious. I wouldn't like showing off that I have money :|
Maybe if painted matte black... and instead of the chromed windows borders make those also matte. Or in carbon fiber. Yeah that should look good and subtle :)
I definitely wouldn't mind buying the Tesla Model S. One White one For Me and a Silver Blue for My Lady. However the question remains whether the Battery Electric Vehicle will last the time I want it to Last. I commute 12,500 Miles a year. That's plenty of work for a Pure Battery Electric Car.
Outstanding Design, People Keeping Buying Gas Engines or Hybrid's and that is all they will produce, stop buying GAS POWERED ENGINES, invest into companies like TESLA and the ENVIRONMENT
According to Wikipedia, Tesla Model S "A 45-minute QuickCharge of the 42 kWh pack will be possible when a 3-phase 480 volt, 100 amp circuit is available (80 amp continuous draw from a 100 amp breaker)". This Quickcharge will charge ~70% of the Battery and will reduce Battery life time. GM-Volt reports that to extend the Volt's Battery life time, they will only discharge (and re-charge) 50% (8kWh) of the 16kWh Li-ion energy capacity. An On-board CE-Charger charges slowly and extends lifetime
@gekados I seen one at a BP station in Switzerland next to Zurich airport but I never asked about pricing. I suppose you could call them up. chances are somebody speaks English.
I am definately going for the S model over the Chevy Volt or Cadillac Converj. Tesla people are on the right track. With more people thinking this way the US is going to dominate the car market again not like chevy people building those plastiky, non-sexy cars what so ever. exept for the corvette but it is still plastiky in the interior.
Christ, this thing looks sweet in white! I've only seen the gun-silver one in the vids so far - I'm loving the fact that Elan will be getting the first one off the line and it'll be in black!
Now don't get me wrong, I would much rather have a Model S over the Volt. But it's good to have options. The average layman will like the Volt for it's extended range and ease of use (no lifestyle adaption needed), while others (like myself) will accept the Tesla's range with open arms in exchange for telling big oil to go suck it, and adapt my life accordingly. I am all for options and competition between companies. Now I just have to decide between this and the Mitsubishi i-MiEV Air Sport :P
Why put down the effort of others? Both are trying to do a positive thing here. I'm not impressed by the business model of GM but I do hope they will be succesfull.
ipbalkenende: I'm not putting GM down. I'm just giving GM constructive criticism. Tesla Motors built a superior car for less money, and they aren't sucking BILLIONS from us taxpayers.
What do you mean for less money? Production cost you mean? Because the sticker price will be higher (as it should be this car is easily worth two times a volt). Btw Tesla did get half a billion from taxpayers to produce this car (I think it's a loan). Money well spent imo, Bush era policy anyway (2007). The money spent on GM and Chrysler was more to save 1-2 million jobs than it was to produce green cars. Giving Tesla the same amount would not have preserved or created 2 million jobs.

Is there any Country in Europe witch has gas stations with electric charging option? And how much would a full charge cost?
gekados 2 years ago
Tesla will have to add an "On-Board CE Electric Generator" to slowly charge the car's Li-Ion Battery during driving.
Otherwise the driver will have to wait for hours for the Tesla to be charged..... (CE = Combustion Engine)

Actually they say a full charge will take around 50 minutes at this model!

The Tesla Model S is a spectacular car that blows away that piece of crap called the Chevy Volt.
