Agreed. Having a round robin in every weight class would be the best idea. Still can't believe the super middleweights agreed to that. What are the chances of getting promoters, managers, fighters to agree to a series of fights against A-list opponents at one weigh...with no PPV dollars? This is only partially true. Zab was winning, but Floyd makes adjustments. He sees what you're doing then corrects what he's doing to counter your effectiveness. He's one of the best at that. While I agree that Pac will give him some fits, it's not farfetched to say that Floyd will outclass him to a UD. Pac makes too many mistakes and, against the best boxer in the world, they will be exploited.

An Elite boxer who is ranked by most as P4P no.1...coming out publicly and calling for things like one belt for one weight division. Until the top level fighters demand this type of situation and stop protecting themselves this won't happen.

MMA (UFC and Dream in particular) is definitely a more exciting sport right now, but that's because they are constantly putting on exciting fights. Sometimes UFC will have a ppv and there will be some undercard fights that I'm more excited about than the main event. Half of the time I order a boxing ppv I don't even know who any of the fighters are outside of the main event. Boxing needs some promoters that care about the sport first and their wallet second. I don't see that anytime soon.

I think there should be some sort of salary cap for both fighters and promoters. This wont stop them making their money, it just means they have to fight more often. I dont think this would mean less people go into boxing either. I doubt any boxer got into it for the money at first, they dedicated their lives to it beause they loved it and that would continue to be the case regardless of how much money is in the sport. This way the fighters get their money and the fans get to see more fights.

Strikeforce is a smaller Cali based org, whereas UFC is USA/UK/Canada - basically worldwide, so I understand maybe that it is a smaller organisation.

Dream is Japanese and big, not just over there. But my point is, say a fighter fights for 'dream' or 'strikeforce', this apparently makes the fighter a b-list fighter (which is not always true).

The UFC (especially at lightweight) has some of the best talent, but it's crooked.

Lots of fans buy into it completely.

MMA isn't only the one organization of the UFC, my friend. Even in the U.S. there's other prominent companies like Strikeforce and Bellator, as well as a number of smaller promotions doing regular shows. Japan has the DREAM promotion now as the top draw over there, in addition to Sengoku, Shooto (longest running MMA org as far as I know) and some others that I can't think of right now. Brazil has some promotions like Jungle Fight, etc. I believe the UK still has their Cage Rage promotion. Lots.

Bottom line is theoretically there are no boundaries in boxing, any fight can happen. Sure there are some obstacles but thats the case in EVERY combat sport. In MMA, the biggest promotion in the world of MMA refuses to cross-promote. So the question of who is the best will theoretically never be solved because MMA'ers will continue to fight in different orgs around the world without actually fighting the best from other orgs.

It may better serve us 2 sometimes restructure the debate from MMA vs Boxing 2 MMA & Boxing. It's pretty obvious they are coexisting, at least until further notice, and benefiting from each other. Boxing PPV's are breaking records, even in light of a dominated HW division, and UFC is also growing. There's just as much beef between Boxing promoters as there is between Boxing and MMA promoters as there is between individual MMA promotions. It's pretty much 1 fight business with many competitors.

I completely agree Blood. Heres the thing, I think fighters nowadays are too scared to take chances, and you really have to put some of the blame on the fans for that. Nowadays if a guy loses a fight he's a scrub and a bum. We put these boxers in a position where they aren't fightin for things that are real, like being champion and being the best, but they are fighting for things that are artificial like holding a shiny strap.
