From wikipedia ... about Blind Lemon Jefferson ... "He was the author of many tunes covered by later musicians, including the classic "See That My Grave Is Kept Clean". Another of his tunes, "Matchbox Blues", was recorded more than 30 years later by The Beatles, albeit in a rockabilly version credited to Carl Perkins, who himself did not credit Jefferson on his 1955 recording."
@zuluzebra Carl Perkins' father, wanted Carl to record the Match Box Blues, but all his father knew was that verse and didn't know who sang it. So Carl took that verse and wrote an entirely different song. So that's is why Carl never credited Jefferson, because it wasn't until decades later he knew who wrote Match Box Blues. The Beatles are covering Perkins' Match Box, NOT Jefferson's Match Box Blues.
you can tell that back when they were first famous, they had to sing the cute stuff, since it was commercial, but when they get a chance to play the stuff they like, they rock it. this, 'twist and shout', 'money'.
Aren't these clips anything but matchbox?

@zuluzebra Match Box Blues & Carl Perkins' Match Box are 2 different songs. The only part of the song that is the same is
"Standin' here wonderin' will a matchbox hold my clothes
I was settin' here wonderin' will a matchbox hold my clothes
I ain't got so many matches but I got so far to go"
