I've listened to her since I was 8 years old. Matter of fact - I'm a friedland. (her mother's maiden name.) But you know what? Yes. She's stayed too long at the fair. Watching her in concert was disappointing. Her voice was weak. But the grammys sealed it. Her voice is gone. Now selling newly recorded songs is just stealing.
Since the age of 13,(way back in 1973,lol),this woman has been a constant thread.I am not the kind of 'fan' who thinks evey single thing she has done has been pure gold, but she certinly wouldn't have endured 5 decades at the top of her game if she was just a one trick pony! One of her albums is entitled,"Barbra Streisand, and Other Musical Instruments" That kinda sums her up for me. An early Happy 69th Birthday for the 24th/4th,Ms Streisand! No-1 will ever rain on your parade!
I think thats she's so cool. But some of her songs are a little bit weird . As this first song she's singing about some bell xD I don't get the song , but I'm from Sweden . So i dosen't get so much;P

Excellent, I have had the privilege of seeing Barbra twice. Once in Las Vegas on New Year's (2000). I will never forget that.
Her last concert I saw in San Jose. I must admit, the San Jose venue (hockey arena) was not nearly as good. The acoustics weren't there. She may also have had a bit of a cold, at least it sounded as if she did. I'm still glad i went, but I won't go to a hockey arena again to see such a extraordinary performer again.

I am still shocked about the prices she asked for in the european tour...the reason why loads of gigs were annulled!! Why? Could not understand it...900€ for a front row....it is weird. She missed an opportunity...such a shame.
Don't ya think she's earned the right to charge that much. Listen, if I had had the money, I would have paid 5,000 dollars just to be able to have seen her. I don't really think that you can complain, since Streisand released the concert for all to enjoy including me!!!!!
No, honestly I don t think so!! 5.000$ dollars!??? to see her??? what a sense of money/inportant things in life that you have uh! I can complain as I have the right to express my thoughts, simply for that. At the end, that's it: most of her concerts in Europe were cancelled and many had few attendees. It is not only me as you can see. Ciao
I certainly can agree with you that the prices would be considered high for a pedestrian singer, but we're talking about Streisand(the greatest singer of our century!!!) Please understand that I do understand what you're saying...but a once in a lifetime event is just that. I was lucky enough to have seen Ella, Sarah, and Frank just before they stopped concertizing!
I've watched the concert around 50 times and never ever tire of it. I love it that Barbra includes the verse to People. Her rendition of "Funny Girl" is amazing, and she is so aware of the meaning inherent in the song which Jule Styne so creatively concocted from "People" by using the first two notes of the song "People" he then goes on to create a truly marvelous song!! Love the Q& A session with Barbra drinking Starbucks at her own personal coffee outlet lol!!! LOVE her tongue placement!
wow - i just happened onto this video and i'm so glad i did! i hadn't considered myself a proper "fan" of her's before, but i did choke up a little at her rendition of "too long at the fair" after the interview context infused the lyrics texture and meaning and a little sadness. and she is still so totally sexy too. an american icon!
Just got my DVDs. The quality of this concert is phenomenal. I bought another for my mom for Mothers'Day. She also loves Il Divo and there's 2 more bonus songs with Il Divo.
Barbra: I still have my tickets and memorabilia from Auburn Hills; sorry I missed your last concert....I was thrilled to see and hear "The Music That Makes Me Dance"..I melt everytime I hear it ...have a fabulous day!
i love barbara's voice , and her persona .. she comes across as a very warm person with a beautiful voice and a beautiful heart. thankyou to laurie for sharing this with me ...
How I enjoyed your TV concert. It was phenomenal! I loved your son's song too, and was touched by your honoring him and his talent, with your singing and public acknowledgement of him. Please don't ever retire. Your voice's power and beauty is as amazing as ever. I'm 56 and have been enthralled with your amazing talent; singer, actress, director, producer. . .
I have seen that performance, Barbara, and might I add, it's like...YOU NEVER LEFT! Bravo! I grew up with your music, movies and memories and I have to say...I enjoyed them more and more because it is a rarity to find you singing live and in person anymore. I am glad you decided to keep performing for us! Your voice still carries a beautiful note.
Thank you for posting this Barbra, really enjoyed the footage. Wish I could have gone. I'm definitely going to order the DVD and drive everyone nuts in the house here, playing it over, and over, and over again.
I thought that after so many years, no one could sing as well as they once did, but after having heard your opening number to the new concert (Starting Here, Starting Now), I was astounded to learn that you're singing even better than ever. I'd like to see you create a great role on the screen, once more. I'm back in your temple, scrubbing floors. Call it, "The Watermark," if you will. Tar Pits are for sinking.
I've been fortunate enough to have seen you perform live many times, beginning with your appearance at the International hotel in 1969. Have you ever sung "I've Been Here" in any of your concerts or live appearances? Would you consider it? And btw, thanks for making me happy so often, for over 50 years...what a wonderful gift to be able to share with people. Patrick
thanks for the good memories of that year for me ....i was crying when it was over on sat night ,,,,,saw u in St Paul...I knew u could sing and so did my nephew ..is 5 ...thanks for the concert and not faking it
Hello Gorgeous! Thank you, thank you so much for posting this video. I was there that day, and I think noone has your class and elegance. I will be getting this set on Tuesday and I will treasure it. Thank you for your magnificent and always welcomed work. But always remember we want more. From Miami, Ana.
Overall this was a marketing masterpiece for those who saw it. Concert/infomercial with its different sponsors announcing their exclusives products in between. I'd be curious to see if fans line-up to buy on Tuesday. I hope CBS reruns it just before Mother's Day.
I thought the special was amazing. Up till now, I'd seen only the youtubes several times but this on my 27" TV (unfortunately not HD) was breath taking. The super close-ups were so real you could see every single different emotions she was exuding. Barbra is truly a real life angel coming to this earth to bless us with love.
The editing was superb. The choice of songs was, well huh? Not my favorites but I completely understand Barbra wanting to deliver HER message to the masses.
WOW!!! Almost like being there again in Atlanta on 11/2/2006. What night, one of the greatest "moments of my life." Thank you for being. I am sitting here in front of the TV ready to record, just like I was when I was 13.........31 years...... Thank you for bringing such joy and meaning to a less that great life. You are pure Joy......
