  • lettuce is really good for them!!!! i have a bunny and she has lettuce all the time and she is totally healthy! where did u get ur information!!!!!! seriously where!

  • My bunny is 11 weeks and 5 days (which is about 12 weeks) and doesn't seem to like romaine lettuce yet. I've tried offering it slowly, but she's not interested. I introduced carrots to her (a little), and she /loved/ it. How do I convince her to eat the rest of her veggies?

  • @SuperCheesetastic try parsley because my bunny eats it always!

  • When can i start feeding my baby bunny vegtabeles? hes 8 weeks old, and also when can he get nutured at?

  • Like what age can he get nutured at?

  • @VikaManasyan Hi VikaManasyan, veges should be introduced one at a time to rabbits when they are 12 weeks old. He can be neutered when he reaches sexual maturity i.e. 4 - 6 months old.

  • @samurai815 thank you for your response. My two Netherland dwarf 6wk bunnies are enjoying they're new home. They are running and spin jumping on my carpet for several hours a day, then they sleep huddled together under the window next to the radiator. They have an endless supply of Timothy Hay and eat all day. What are your suggestions of veggies that are healthy for baby rabbits? Also, they seem to be attracted to pooping on my bed in the middle of the night and early morning, any ideas?

  • Hi Teeny, I have two new 5 weeks old baby rabbits. Your YouTube videos are very helpful. I feed them half a handful of pellets and Timothy hay twice a day, plus hay in the litter box. I feel as if the bunnies are always hungry, how much should I feed them? My mom thinks I'm over feeding them because they poop a lot and not liter trained yet. What should I do?

  • @cmceny hay should be accessible 24/7 to your rabbit as well as water. Rabbits digestion is not like ours where our intestines push the food. Rabbits need to eat in order to poop. We feed our rabbit once a day with dry food mix (no pelets tho, because they are considered unhealthy, very fattening). Greens we give him whenever he asks (our rabbit roams the house free 24/7 :P), what is roughly 5-6 times a day. You should let your rabbit run around on carpet or some other friction surface.

  • @cmceny Hi cmceny, rabbits aged 4 to 7 weeks are still considered babies, and should be fed their mother's milk and have unlimited access to alfalfa hay and pellets (meant for baby rabbits). Rabbits can have unlimited access to pellets until they are 7 months old. And healthy rabbits poo alot, and in big, round, hard poo pellets.

  • what kind of rabbit is sugar

  • @rockabillyjr Hi rockabillyjr, not too sure, but I think she's a cross between and Dutch and another breed.

  • and.. what are more list of veggies and fruites they can eat safe?

  • @mylittlepiggy20 fruits: oranges, apples, pears, generally watery ones, our eats even watermelons :P, generally if he eats it he likes it. small amounts are fine of everything.

veggies what are not starch based, like corn or potatoes. However beets, cucumbers, carrots are fine and they even like them. If you are going to feed him some, try giving with leaves fruits and veggies, for example they eat carrots with the leaves. But not cucumber leaves tho (spiky).

Hint: try dandelion leaves and flow

  • @mylittlepiggy20 Hi mylittlepiggy20, for a more complete list, do check out the HRSS website> All About Rabbits> Healthcare> Diet> Frequently Asked Questions> "What kinds of veges should I feed my rabbit"

  • hi.. i have two rabbits.. i feed them small amount of hay.. because we cant buy a packed hay here.. we need to cut hay for them.. and i feed them mixed pellets..its have corn mixed with it is it ok??

  • hi.. i feed my two rabbits.. i feed them a small amount of hay.. because here they dont have packed all ready hays.. so we need to find hay and cut for them. and i feed them mixed pellets.. but it have corns too..

  • hello, i have a pretty serious problme: my rabbit doesnt eat hay!!!!! he is about 5, i adopted him from a shelter about 4 months ago and i guess his past owners never fed him hay. we have tried just about every type and flavor but he wont eat it. we went to the vet but they said that we cant mke him eat it. we have been feeding him oxbow pallets for adult rabbits and greens (kale, dandelion greens, and collard greens) but i still hope he will eat hay. any advice?????

  • @caseylayla Hi caseylayla, yeah, for rabbits who have never been fed hay, it's a challenge to get them to eat it. If you have tried every hay type and brand, countless times, your rabbit is probably not going to be a hay-eater. Then, you want to ensure that you give your rabbit as much fiber as possible - high quality, high fiber pellets and loads of fresh green vege. You can still try giving hay occasionally to see if he changes his mind. =)

  • @TeenyTeh thank you! i feed him "oxbow adult pellets" and kale, collard greens, and dandelion greens:)

  • this makes me feel excited, I also don't understand why no to lettuce

  • I thought cabbage was okay for rabbits, what other veggies can I feed my rabbit...Ive never head of the greens youve mentioned XD

  • @KerryCObihara Hi KerryCObihara, cabbage will upset the rabbit's digestive system and give them unnecessary gas. The veges mentioned are local veges found in Singapore. For more international veges, do check out the HRS website and search for "Suggested vegetables".

  • @TeenyTeh Oh, and i've noticed there is mixed info on the web about feeding lettuce. I knew iceburg lettuce and cabbage were bad (because of my experience with guinea-pigs), but have read in numerous places different views on feeding lettuce. O_O

  • Hi! I NEED HELP HERE :( MY RABBIT ATE TOMATO LEAVES. I've searched in the internet and it is bad for the rabbit.:( what will i do to my rabbit?:( is there some kind of medication i have to give her?:(

  • @alingdionisia1000 rabbit tomato leaf medication

  • My rabbit loves cereal. Please tell me this is okay he just loves it. He gets the rest such as apples and veg fresh hay and dry seeds and dry veges. If cereal is bad please tell me what cereal he can have lol great vid

  • @ilovejamesandmoney Hi ilovejamesandmoney, your rabbit loves cereal because it's sweet (all animals love sweet foods). However, it is not healthy for him as it has too much sugar and preservatives. For your rabbit's health, do stick to hay, pellets, green veges and fresh fruit (as treats).

  • One a more serious note. I do not know what those vegetables really are seeing as they are not called the same where im from. Would *normal* celery be fine? And i have no clue what xiao bai cai is. Any help would be appreciated.

  • @Krauz85 Hi Krauz85, apologies as this video was made more for the Singapore context (thus the introduction of the local veges). Yes, normal celery is fine. For a whole list of international veges that you can feed ur rabbit, do visit the HRS website (rabbit.org)> Search "Suggested Vegetables".

  • @TeenyTeh Okay, thanks for the help ;-)

  • @Krauz85 Hi Krauz85, as mentioned, the veges mentioned are local veges found in Singapore. For more international veges, do check out the HRS website and search for "Suggested vegetables". Celery is ok but do feed them more green leafy veges.

  • Looks very cute. The rabbit looks cute too;-)

  • can you feed them carrots and celery? Or Iceburg Lettuce! I'm worried I'm getting a bunny on the 17th and I was planning on feeding him these nutritions every night! And I'm now really confused on how much they should be fed what they need to be fed and how often to be fed! PLEASE help me :S

  • @nomnom195 Hi nomnom195, carrots shld only be fed in limited quanities due to it's high sugar content. Celery is fine. Iceberg lettuce should be AVOIDED as it will give your rabbit gas. For a list of veges you can feed your rabbit, visit the HRS website (rabbit.org)> Search "Suggested Vegetables". Good luck!

  • @TeenyTeh Thank you SO SO SO much I delayed my bunny to wait for you to repsone now I'm getting one once I move to my new home I'm quite excited now!

  • im allergic to timothy hay what kind of hay should i give my rabbit? and i love your videos sugar looks so happy and healthy

  • @greenfunkymonkey Hi greenfunkymonkey, thanks! Sugar is a gem and we love her so much! =) You can try Oat hay or orchard grass. These are very high in fibre too - which is what adult rabbits need. Alfalfa hay is for baby rabbits and not for adult rabbits as it will cause adult rabbits to be overweight.

  • im allergic to timithy hay what kind of hay should i give my rabbit? and i love your videos sugar looks so happy and healthy

  • Hi Teeny luv all the videos...My mini lop Mocha is 3 yrs old & hasn't been eating her timothy hay like she use to so I bought oat, wheat, barley hay & mix it with the timothy hay....She's funny bc she'll eat now mostly the oat hay & leaves the timothy hay..; ) but recently I ordered timothy hay mixed with marigolds (dried) & oat, wheat, barley hay with dried rosemary & bay leaves (dried)...Is that ok??

  • @MiniMochaLop Hi MiniMochaLop, not too sure about the marigold, rosemary & bay leaves but oat, wheat and barley hay is ok. Sometimes it's that particular batch of hay (not as fresh etc). When you find that they have a sudden change in their eating habits, it is seldom because they have had "a change of taste". A lot of times, its cos of something bothering her of because of a tooth infection or abscess. Do monitor it for a while and if she still doesn't eat her hay, do get it checked.

  • @pryia101 u don't really clean a bunny because they groom themselves...what u can do is use plain water to spot clean the dirty part. Check out Teeny's grooming video!

  • i am getting a baby bunny so if the bunny is dirty how do you clean them

  • When you say no lettuce..You mean no iceberg lettuce, right? Romaine lettuce and green leaf lettuce are alright..aren't they

  • @AlyssaAndTashee Hi AlyssaAndTashee, yes you're right. No iceberg lettuce, but romaine and the darker leaf varieties are ok. In this part of the world (Singapore), the word "lettuce" is used very often to describe the iceberg type.

  • @AlyssaAndTashee Normally, no. Any type of lettuce (especially iceburg) can give rabbits upset stomachs and loose stools.

Here are some I suggest that you can feed every day:

    Kale

    Bell Pepper

    Parsley

    Basil

I hope this was helpful. (Although very late) (:

  • And also I can't get her into a trance...I still couldn't and she tends to bite my clothes when I play with her so I get scared that she might hurt me.

  • @stephylove10 Hi stephylove10, has she been spayed yet? The aggression could be due to the fact that she has reached maturity. Spaying your rabbit helps alleviate that.

  • Teeny my bunny is fine with everything else...it's just she isn't eating her veges that's it. She eats everything else.

  • @stephylove10 Hi stephylove10, maybe you can try other veges (on the suggested vege list) if she doesnt eat the ones you give her?

  • @setorando2 Hi, yes, bread is too high in carbohydrates. It's advisable to feed them items high in fiber (hay, green veges, good quality pellets) instead.

  • Oh hello! Have you considered intellectus diet (search on google for intellectus424dietcom)? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my cousin lost crazy amounts of weight with it.

  • @rsraj1989 was your cousin a rabbit?

  • Teeny my bunny is no longer eating her veges...eat do I do!

  • @stephylove10 Hi, is she eating her pellets and hay? If your rabbit is not eating well, it is a sure sign that she's not feeling well. Do bring her to the vet asap.

  • Hi, I was just wondering is spinich ok to feed each day? Thank you!

  • @TheBinkiebunny Hi, Spinach should be given sparingly as it may be toxic in accumulated quantities over a period of time.

  • @TeenyTeh Thank you for the help ^_^

  • hello! your videos are for sure the most helpful out there. but i have a question: i am growing sweet basil, parsley and wilflowers in my backyard. can i let my new almost bun (getting one soon!) nibble on them, and how much? also, if it attracts other rabbits is that ok to leave an extra pile out for them? thank you!

  • @caseylayla Hi, basil and parsley are ok for rabbits. They can eat as much as they want. Not too sure about wilflowers though, thus best to avoid feeding them to your rabbits.

  • Thank you :D . your bunny videos are so helpful. i will most likely be getting a rabbit soon and have been watching your videos . thank you so much for the help :)

  • my bunny chews on a cardboard box thats in her cage as a "hidy hole". is that ok?? it bothers me. i want to know if it is hurting her digesting system or not.

  • @NatCat1997 Hi, if the cardboard is untreated (no colour or not laminated etc) it should be ok. Rabbits have tons of fun with cardboard boxes (running in and out of em, tearing and destroying em etc)

  • Spinach??? My bunny eats spinach... is that ok?

  • @sulax081 Hi, Spinach should be given sparingly as it may be toxic in accumulated quantities over a period of time.

  • wow, never thought lettuce was bad for my bunny. I used to give her a little out of my salad in the mornings before i left for the day. thanks for the helpful information.

oh, and also, thanks for the litter training. much obliged.

  • i just want to let you hat your tips are sooooo helpful! i might be getting a holland lop and i thought i already knew everything...Apparantly not!

  • can you give 10 week old rabbits vegies??? i want to know!!

  • @NatCat1997 I fed my 7 week old rabbits veggies and it's alright for them. Once their teeth mature well enough, they are able to eat veggies.

  • @NatCat1997 Hi, veges should only be introduced (1 type at a time) after rabbits reach 12 weeks old.

  • i have three, questions one: is it ok for a bunny to eat a dandelion, two is it healthy for the bunny, and three: if so, is it a snack for the bunny or could he get a couple at a time

  • @fatlizzard19 Hi fatlizzard19, Yes, dandelion greens and flowers (with no pesticides) are good for rabbits as they contain Vitamin A (so you can give them more of it - not only as a snack). When giving rabbits their veges, ensure that at least 1 variety contains Vitamin A. Other veges high in Vitamin A are watercress, parsley, Romaine lettuce & endive.

  • Amazing video series! You're tips are so helpful, and Sugar looks so happy and cute! <3

  • @YokaiAkito Thank you so much, your comment means a lot. We'll have more rabbit care tutorials coming soon. Again, thank you for your support:-)

  • where am i going to get all these veges

  • @SailorWolfFang Hi, are you in the United States? If so, you can get them at your grocery store. But these veges are more readily available in ASEAN countries. For a list of veges available in the States, visits the HRSS website>All About Rabbits> Healthcare> Diet> Frequently Asked Questions.

  • Hi Teeny at what age should i get my Rabbit ? PLEASE RESPOND [SOMEONE]

  • @liamroy5 Hi, u're asking what age e rabbit shld be when u get her as a companion? The legal age of rabbits to be sold in pet stores is about 2 mths. However, note tt rabbits get more aggressive (spray urine, scratch & bite) when they reach sexual maturity at 4-6 mths. Sterilizing/ neutering em after they reach sexual maturity minimizes this behavior. Why not give a rescued rabbit a 2nd chance at life & adopt frm HRSS or ur local shelter? All adult rabbits from HRSS have been sterilized.

  • gaz8015 if your Rabbit isn't eating it's Hay I would take him/her to the vet. It might not seem like a big problem but Rabbit's don't show there sickness unless they are dying. I know it's weird but it's true.

  • hi Teeny a lot of people have been telling me that your supposed to feed your rabbit lettuce and not celery is that true?

  • @liamroy5 Hi liamroy5, iceberg lettuce (the light green one) is a no-no for rabbits as it causes gas. Other darker lettuces are ok i.e. Romaine lettuce. Celery is ok for your rabbit. For a complete list of veges that are ok for your rabbit, go to HRSS website>All About Rabbits>Healthcare>Diet>FAQs.

  • my rabbit doesn't eat hay why wont he?

  • @gaz8015 Hi, 4 rabbits who hav not been given hay (but fed solely pellets + vege etc) since they were young, it takes a while to get them 2 eat hay. Some of these rabbits refuse hay altogether. For cases like these, after u have tried everything (lessening their pellets + veges etc to get em to eat hay ensure they get their fibre frm high fibre pellets & dark green leafy veges. If ur rabbit has been eating hay & suddenly stops, do bring it to the vet, it cld hav dental problems.

  • Today fed my rabbit some apple romaine lettuce carrots and a little orange in a small bowl and I give her living worlds bunny food (extrusions) I think they are called is that ok?

  • @elainey0007 Hi, apple, carrots & orange r considered treats - & shld b limited due to their high sugar content. Give em only 1 serving per day - 1 serving size equals size of 1 grape. You shld be feeding ur rabbit (adult rabbit) between 2 to 3 cups of vege per day. I have not tried living worlds bunny food but as long as it's high in fibre (at least 25%) & doesn't contain unhealthy items like nuts, seeds and beans, it should be fine. Rabbit pellets shld be made of mainly timothy hay.

  • Hi!

My rabbit is 7 months old. I've went to HRSS website to see the diet guide. But i'm a little unsure on how much vege should i feed my rabbit. Please help. Thank you!

  • @hameedah87 Hi hameedah87, depending on the breed & weight of your rabbit, you can feed your 7 month old rabbit between 2 - 3 cups of vege per day. You can cut up the vege into 1 to 2 inch long pieces if you like.

  • @mrsoniclover333 Hi mrsoniclover333, as mentioned in the video, corn and nuts are harmful to the rabbit's digestive tract - thus please do not give your rabbits corn or nuts or any other veges or fruits that could upset their tummies (NO NO veges: Cabbage, Iceberg Lettuce, yam, potato, any kind of beans, corn, nuts etc). Parsley on the other hand is safe to feed your rabbit. Rabbits love both the English Parsley & Chinese Parsley (Cilantro).

  • hi teeny do you only give a rabbit one tablespoon of pellets for the day or one tablespoon of pellets at night as well? thanks! love your videos! always so helpful!

  • @meconbon Hi meconbon, thanks for the encouragement! =) I give my rabbit (who is coming to 9 years old) only 1 tablespoon of pellets but more fresh green veges & unlimited hay as too much pellets is not good for older rabbits. Depending on the age of your rabbit, you might want to give your rabbit slightly more pellets. A guide on how much you shld feed ur rabbit can be found at the HRSS website>All About Rabbits> Healthcare> Diet> FAQ. Hope that helps!

  • hi! what type/brand of treats do u recommend? and how often shld i give them treats?

  • @hameedah87 Hi hameedah87, treats shld only be given in small quantities - one serving every 2 days max. One serving = 1 grape. Avoid commercial treats like yoghurt drops & nuts as they r harmful to e rabbit's digestive tract. Fresh fruits make e best treats. Some safe fruits are: Apple (remove stem and seeds), Blueberries, Melon, Orange, Papaya, Peach, Pear, Pineapple, Plums, Raspberries, Strawberries. Sugary fruits like bananas & grapes should be used only sparingly, as occasional treats.

  • but i always feed my bunny lettuce, its her favorite :(

  • @kostaapessos Hi @kostaapessos, if it's iceberg lettuce, do stop feeding it to her as it will give her digestive problems. If it's a darker lettuce like romaine lettuce, it's fine. Iceberg lettuce also has very little nutritional value. Do feed her a variety of green leafy veges so tt she gets sufficient fibre, vitamins & minerals. Btw, just because the rabbits love eating a particular food, it doesn't mean it's good for them - it's like the relationship between us humans and potato chips. =)

  • i have 8 weeks netherland dwarf bunny and i would like to know if i can feed her all these veggies that you said.? do i still feed her 1 tablespoon of pellets?

  • @maria22aris Hi maria22aris, for rabbits 7 weeks to 7 months, feed them unlimited pellets, unlimited hay and once they reach 12 weeks old, introduce vegetables (one at a time, quantities under 1/2 oz.).

  • Can I feed my bunny cucumbers?

  • @stephylove10 Hi stephylove10, I have heard that cucumber does not have much nutritional value, thus I have not personally tried feeding my rabbits cucumber. I would stick to the recommended list of veges just to be safe.

  • When they sleep they clse their eyes right? Cause I just see her close her eyes adn when I walk up shhe stands up.

  • @stephylove10 Rabbits can sleep with their eyes closed or open. They sometimes sleep with their eyes open so that predators will be less likely to attack them. Smarties!

  • My rabbit is only eating the leafs of the veges no the stem. And I saw her eat her own poo! Please help me!

  • @stephylove10 My rabbit eats only e leaves of her veges too - no worries about tt. They're just being picky as e leaves are e most flavorful part. And yes, rabbits eat their own poo! =) Besides the hard, round poo that you see in her litterbox, rabbits have soft, stinky poo tt r stuck together in clumps with a mucous coating. These are called cecals pellets. It is from these cecal pellets that a rabbit gets the majority of her nutrition, not from the first passage of food through the gut.

  • Teeny I never see my rabbit sleep.

  • @stephylove10 Hi stephylove10, rabbits take short naps throughout the day. You can tell when they are deep in sleep when they lose control of their body - their body goes limp and you will see them grinding their teeth (a little like us when we sleep). They look super cute when that happens. =)

  • teeny,my rabbits are always eating weird stuffs like newspaper, rusty metals, hard plastics and all of things that they could reach of..is this normal?

and one of my rabbit is always having diarrhea..what could possibly be wrong with it?

  • @harajuku2640 Hi, rabbits need 2 eat constantly 2 keep their gut going - which is why they need unlimited hay. They gnaw at stuff like furniture, plastic, flooring etc as they try 2 wear their teeth down. Some do it 2 relieve boredom. We need to provide safe toys 4 em - like willow balls, straw mats, untreated cardboard, apple twigs etc. Rabbits having diarrhea is dangerous. The rabbit poo u see shld be round & hard. FYI, the poo they eat is soft (but they don't leave em lying ard).

  • Teeny I have a question. Um my rabbit some times run into her hiding spot and shoots out really fast then jump over the hay rack and runs really fast into her hiding spot again. And when she does this her bedding flies everywhere cause he kicks.

  • @stephylove10 Hi, that's normal, your rabbit is just having some fun/ playing. Rabbits are such amusing creatures. =)

  • Yeah I feed her afalfa hay.

  • Teeny my rabbit seems hungery for pellets. Not really eating her hay.

  • @stephylove10 Hi stephylove10, if your rabbit is not used to eating hay, it will take awhile to get her to eat hay - as pellets are much tastier, but not necessarily healthier, than hay. How old is your rabbit? If you rabbit is still a baby (less than 3 mths), she shld be eating alfafa hay. If she's an adult rabbit, she should be on Timothy Hay, Orchard Grass, Oat Hay etc. An adult rabbit's diet should be primarily made up of hay, followed by fresh green veges then pellets. Hope this helps.

  • LOL "no no veggies" "wash your vegetables thoroughly before feeding them"

  • A question umm how much money will an average bunny cost ( food, hay, litter, bedding etc) cost for a year?

  • @stephylove10 Hi stephylove10, it entirely depends on the quality of food, bedding, amount of toys, medical costs etc of the bunny. I spend about $80 a month of Sugar. Breakdown: Hay ($40), Pellets ($5), Vege ($30), Litter ($5). Thankfully, no daily medication for now. Thus estimated cost for a year is about $1,000.

  • my rabbit is a bit fat. how do get her skinny? i fed her lettuce and she never eats carrots.she chews up newspapers and papers and wood corners. help

  • @annagong963 Hi, its tough getting an overweight rabbit 2 slim down. I suggest givin her more run sessions (let her out of cage/ play pen 2 run ard rest of e house - ensure tt home is bunny-proofed thou. The lettuce is not iceberg lettuce right- its not gd 4 their digestive system. Chewing on newspapers & wood is normal as they r exercising their jaws n teeth & it's their way of relieving boredom. Do provide bunny-safe toys 4 her like willow balls, hay mats & untreated paper & wood pieces.

  • @TeenyTeh thank u the lettuce is............ i don't know the name. i have her some wood to chew but she doesn't chew it. my mom fed her buns and cereal which is bad but my rabbit won't stop eating it.when i take her out she chews everything in cluing the carpet

  • @annagong963 Hi annagong963, if u r unaware of e name of e lettuce, u might want to stop givin it just to b safe. Bunnies like wood tt is tasty (to them) like apple twigs, untreated willow etc. Bread, buns & cereals r strict no-nos. Do stop feeding her those tasap as they do long-term damage 2 bunny's health. If bunny chews something she shouldn't, u can train her not to by saying "No!". Do not hit her but just a verbal shock (reinforced a few times) shld be enuf to deter her in e future.

  • @TeenyTeh Thank so much now my mom thinks I am crazy when she sees my taking the cereal away from Roxy. I told my mom to not feed her cereal but my mom puts a bag of cereal on the cage. I took it away i think i am over reacting. I let her out and she does a few weird jumps and run and stills bite corners (do u know what i mean when i said corners?

  • @annagong963 Hi annagong963, good job on taking away the cereal. You should see your rabbits poo getting rounder and bigger - with brown specks in it (that's fibre!). The weird jumps where the rabbits kick their legs high in the air & propel themselves straight up in the air and land on their feet r called "binkies". Rabbits do it when they are happy (they are happy when they are let out to run and play). Binkies are a rabbit owner's ultimate satisfaction. =) Bite corners? Of your carpet?

  • @TeenyTeh It is on the corner of the carpet and the wall border near the ground. Roxy bites nearly everything. binkies? I let her out and then when i walk near her she runs back in the cage. Her poo is ....................... not so hard. Thanks on the info. is there such think as a mini lionhead?

  • I Recently Just Adopted A Rabbit Which I Decided To Name It,Brownie..A Male,Healthy And Active..

As Refer To This Video, Teeny stated that rabbit should be fed one tablespoon of fresh pellet every morning..i did as what Teeny Told..But Brownie Seem Very Hungry..

  • @fadzlinayu Hi fadzlinayu, amt of pellets 2 give each rabbit varies - depending on breed & age. Bout 1 to 2 tablespoonfuls of quality pellets per day per adult rabbit is gd. If you feel that 1 tablespoon is too little, you can up it to 2 no prob.

My Sugar is coming to 9 years old now, thus I need to give her less pellets and more hay and veges so that she doesn't get too overweight. PS: Sugar always seems hungry for her pellets. =)

  • This was very helpful c:

  • i just got a male & female rabbit that's about 5 months. they're both albino... & i have yet to neuter them. soon though.

i need to know how much pellets should i give them? do i need to separate their food?

  • @sololoner Hi, amt of pellets 2 give each rabbit varies-depending on breed & age. Bout 1 to 2 tablespoonfuls of quality pellets per day per rabbit is gd. This should b fed together wif hay, water & veges. 2 separate rabbits during feeding, depends on speed at which rabbits eat. I used 2 hav 2 separate my rabbits during mealtime as e female rabbit woofed down her pellets - leaving little 4 e male. She got overweight & he underweight. You cld try feeding em 2gether 1st & monitor their weight.

  • Hi, Teeny! :) I am getting a bunny on Friday and i was just wondering if you have any helpful tips. I know allof the thing i need to know and have done hours and hours of research, but i have never owned a rabbit before so any helpful tips would be great :) Thanks, Jayda

  • @Jaydeygirljayda Hi Jaydeygirljayda, do check out some of the other videos like "How to pick up a rabbit", "How to litter train your rabbit", "How to groom your rabbit", "Rabbit sterilization" etc. Do also go onto the HRSS website to find out more about basic rabbit care like proper rabbit housing etc. You can never know too much before you get a pet - the more you know the better. Btw, I do hope you are adopting a rescued rabbit instead of buying one. Have fun with your new friend! =)

  • @TeenyTeh Hi, i am adopting a mini lop :) It came from a place where it was kept outside in a small dirty cage and people found it shaking in the corner so they called the shelter.

  • @misssuperstarbellz Hi misssuperstarbell, interesting to know tt rabbits like fresh Ireland grass. Rabbits do not eat grass tt's grown here in Singapore. A lot of irresponsible pet owners think tt rabbits can survive on grass we have here & abandon their pet rabbit in parks & reservoirs. =( HRSS also encourages rabbit owners to house their rabbits indoors - away frm potential predators, harsh weather, fleas & ticks - thus rabbits don't & shouldn't get too much contact with fresh grass.

  • hi there. i love ur videos. they're very helpful =)

i've got a baby lionhead. i don't know how old is he but he's obviously not an adult yet. i'd like to know what should the serving size be for veggies..

  • @Eubehski Hi Eubehski, baby rabbits (before their reach sexual maturity at 4-6mths) should be exposed to vegetables gradually. Their main diet should consist of good quality pellets (for baby rabbits), unlimited hay, water and small qty of vege. For starters you could give him a cup of assorted green leafy vege like the varieties listed in the video and increase it gradually to 2 - 3 cups as he reaches adulthood.

  • Thanks Teeny these videos are great!

  • can i feed it bok choy?

  • @myalovesparamore Hi myalovesparamore, yes, Bok Choy is also known as Xiao Bai Cai here in Singapore. =)

  • @myalovesparamore yes rabbits can eat bok choy

  • They can eat green and red leaf lettuce and romaine lettuce just not iceberg lettuce also for hard vegetables does regular celery count as a hard vegetable? Like can they get kidney stones from that?

  • @tazio998 Hi tazio998, yes, they can eat green and red leaf lettuce and romaine - just not iceberg. And there are debates on whether regular celery is a hard vege - some say is it, some say it isn't. To be on the safe side, I feed my bunny celery only twice every week. Hope that helps!

  • is this ok? i feed my rabbit a winsy bit of milk chocolate like once 4/5 months, is that ok? Also you menioned pellets, my rabbit refuses to eat pellets, he is also a VERY fussy eater, got any replacemnts???!

  • @ThePoshPetz Hi, many rabbits hav died or got serious digestive probs frm chocolate, thus I wld advise 2 stop feedin ur bunny chocolate & switch 2 healthier snacks like apples, grapes etc instead. I personally haven't come across a rabbit tt doesn't like pellets. Cld it b cos he has access 2 better tasting (but not necessarily healthy) items? If so, he might get full on tt & not want pellets. Do try to remove (gradually) unhealthy stuff & try 2 get him on diet of hay, green veges and pellets.

  • @TeenyTeh My rabbit eats vegedables and fruit and hay. I feed him a fruit rabbit food for a main diet, is that ok? It has pellets in it but he prefers to eat the dryed fruit and leaves out the pellets. For snacks i feed him fruit or vegedables and he enjoyes them! but he has neverever eaten pellets asept in the pet shop.. i think! He has not eaten pellets in ages but what can i do to make him eat it? Should i take away some of the dryed fruit and more pellets? please relpy:)

  • @ThePoshPetz Hi, yes, it is clear that your rabbit is not eating pellets because he has the option to eat sweeter, yummier items (like dried fruits and fresh fruits). When your rabbit consumes too much of these sweet items, he will grow fat and become unhealthy. Do try to gradually reduce the amount of sweet items in his diet and introduce hay + pellets + continue feeding him fresh green leafy veges. Fruits should only be fed sparingly (1 grape per day max). Good luck!

  • Thanks teeny, another question Im just wondering what is the common age for rabbits to pass away?

  • @321katt Hi 321katt, with proper nutrition and care, rabbits live up to 10 - 12 years. =)

  • Do rabbits get sick commonly?

  • @321katt Hi 321katt, rabbits like humans, are usually quite healthy until they get older (from 5 years onwards). This ranges from rabbit to rabbit - I have heard of some rabbits staying really healthy till 16 years old (then they die from old age). Pretty cool! However, some unfortunate rabbits get genetic diseases or things like dental diseases i.e. malocclusion early on in life - which can require a bit more attention on the part of the rabbit owner. Hope this answers your question!

  • @TeenyTeh thank u for all of your tips

  • @SmallScottishGal Hi, baby rabbits are rabbits below 3 mths old. Below r what u shld feed em at e different stages:

    - Birth to 3 wks - mother's milk

    - 3 to 4 wks - mother's milk, nibbles of alfalfa & pellets

    - 4 to 7 wks - mother's milk, access to alfalfa & pellets

    - 7 wks to 7 mths - unlimited pellets, unlimited hay

    * 12 wks - introduce vegetables (one at a time, in limited quantity)

Note tt there special pellets for baby rabbits - these r mainly made up of alfalfa hay.

    Hope this helps! =)

  • Aw:) I wish rabbits could talk:)

  • @SmallScottishGal Hi SmallScottish Gal, apologies, the veges in this video were all veges available in Singapore. Veges that are probably available in UK (which are ok to feed your rabbit include: Basil, Beet greens (tops), Bok choy, Brussels sprouts, Celery, Cilantro, Clover, Collard greens, Endive, Escarole, Green peppers, Mint leaves, Mustard greens, Parsley, Radish tops, Raspberry leaves

Romaine lettuce (no iceberg or light colored leaves), Watercress, Wheat grass. Hope this helps!

  • excellent presentation!

  • is hard bread ok because the breeder said to give them hard bread

  • @cutieme115 Not sure what the breeder's rationale is, but any types of bread or other "human" foods are not advisable for your rabbit. Do stick to the diet of unlimited hay, fresh green leafy veges, good quality pellets and unlimited drinking water just to be safe. Thing is, the rabit's digestive system is very different from that of humans, so they need a very specific diet to keep them healthy.

  • @TeenyTeh hello teeny its me again i just wanted to say that cabbage and lettuse is not bad for rabbit right?? because i always give them lettuce and cabbage but not ice berg lettuce...and they say that pine apple juice is good for rabbits cause it helps in shedding is that right or not???? pls answer and good video

  • @a7mad1998 Hi! Too much cabbage causes enlargement of e thyroid & digestive problems - which is why I stay away frm it completely. Dark lettuces like Romaine r ok, but light green ones like Iceberg cause diarrhoea. When rabbits shed, they ingest more fur & gut motility may slow down. Many owners use pineapple or papaya juice (fresh extracts - NOT canned/bottled) 2 get e gut going again.

  • Great Video! Thanks for sharing proper diet info and storage tips!

  • Yup, very useful tips! Got all my rabbit education from HRSS ... keep up the good work

  • wow this is so video thought me quite abit, just adopted my lop bunnies from a family so i am still learning alot, kudos to you.

    Cheers

  • hey! I am so happy to see Sugar, she has the same markings as my Toto! She's a netherland dwarf too?

And it seems I have been overfeeding Toto. I feed her with oxbow pellets thrice a day and she will still harass me for more food (eg. bite my toe, start biting anything on the floor)!

Any suggestion on how I can curb her appetite? She has unlimited supply of hay but doesn't like to eat them. We feed her veggie on adhoc basis. will be sure to make it a daily thing.

  • @dippysaucy Sugar's local!=) Is Toto spayed? Tried diff hay types? Diff rabbits take 2 diff hay. Some rescued rabbits dun eat hay cos previous owner din feed hay. If urs dun 2, ensure pellets r high in fibre & right veges r fed. Rabbits nid 2 eat constantly (keep gut goin (hay!)). Ensure thou they dun get fat as they cant groom emselves, sores on feet etc. Lookin at poop's gd way 2 check health-u want big round poop wif brown bits (fibre!). I like examining bunny poop-I noe others who do 2!=)

  • Thanks for the video. I feed my rabbits 2 times day - 2x veggies & pellets..

  • I adopted a rabbit. The person said can return in 1 week if it doesn't bond with my other rabbit. That person stopped sms me and now i have to take care of it.I don't have time for 2 rabbit.
