You did a really good job :) Some suggestions are, as pooley1234daniel said, play it pp through the majority, and as Billy said, make this piece yours..Debussy was a romanticist. Also, I don't know if it was the piano or not, but watch your pedal, some of the piece was muddy. Overall, well done.
Ha....my judge this year said the same thing about Arabesque I and gave me a 2. She said "way overpedaled" and to imagaine a "vista" as I played the piece.
Haha, I used to be a pedal whore..I won't lie! That, and I held my pinky finger down all the time..=P But that's how we learn, right? That's why things like that help. :)
A Very good attempt but if i would make it pp all the way through and have parts suddenly comin loud from knowhere to give a sense of dramatic build up.i actually performed this piece at the julliard school of music in new york if you would like some advice leave a comment on my youtube accouny faithfully Dr Daniel Johnstone
I probably could have done it, but just wanted to make sure. I played this piece again for State Level S&E (this was district) -- this time from memory. It was a better performance overall, but like Billy said (and both of my judges) I need more expression. I got a "2" (second highest rating) that time. Didn't video it, though.
hey brian its billy :D awesome job, my comment is that it seems like you don't love the piece as much as I do.
If you check out some professional recordings of this piece, you'll see how they stretch the phrases and dynamics so that its their style. So what i'm getting at is, make this piece your own :D
I think it was much too over peddled. And during the crescendo at 1:37, the speed jump was too great. :D

In this specific Liszt's piece, timing MUST go out the window. It must be ALL emotion.
Also, you know that a piano will still produce music after you lift your foot off the pedal, right?
