  • 1:17 .... those are some child bearin' hips.

  • I remember these commercials.... I am one old son of a bitch. Thanks Youtube for reminding me...

  • I am getting old! Seems like I watched this yesterday!

  • @historyeducator I feel you... when I was young, and they did flash backs like this, they were in black and white, or crappy 70's color.

  • Beep deep doop deep times, you say?

  • ahhhhh...i loved 1989

  • Guess I aint missin' nothin' to great anymore...think I'll go w/o cable a bit longer. These clips bring me back to a time when TV was so enjoyable to watch. Especially NicK At Nite. I miss the days when I would just light up a doobie...lay back..& watch "The Patty Duke Show." AH! Memories!!!

  • Ever feel these commercials and promos had more effort put into them than the ones you see today? Also notice many of the old black-and-white shows you never see on TV anymore.

TV Land is just as bad. They have broken their 50s-70s programming tradition in favor of reality shows (High School Reunion) and more recent sitcoms (The Cosby Show).

If you look at their main webpage, they have Scrubs listed as a classic. Please tell how that is in there with the likes of ILL and Andy Griffith.

  • @KratostheThird OH. MY. GOSH. you took the words right out of my thoughts with that first question!!!! lol i was just thinking about that today too!! lol...it feels like the commercials these days have hardly ANY effort put into them and the commercials back then were so catchy and creative and could have the jingle stuck in your head all day! lol

  • @KratostheThird ..but now, it's so..bland. it's kind of like they just get right to the point "eat this"or "drink this" and that's it. when that commercial came on talking about "love at first bite" i was just thinking to myself "wow, you don't hear anything like that anymore"

  • @KratostheThird I agree. I don't watch tvland at all in the evenings or night time. I cannot understand how they skip one complete decade (the 80s) and go right to the 90s and 00s. I like some shows from the 90s , but I do not think they belong on this channel.

  • What's with the beeps?

  • they were so that local cable companies could drop in their own promos/commercials in.

  • Nick at Nite only airs 5 shows today- with nothing older than Roseanne. They should show more '80s/'90s shows rather than the few they have right now! And let's keep TV land to the 50's-70's.

  • Omg I remember some of these.

  • Thank God theyre starting to release SNL seasons on DVD

  • If you are sick of the new TVLand please visit their forum and express yourself.

Added bonus the forum moderator TVlink is a douch#bag. Behind the scenes we have a secret contest to see who can get the longest reply out the moron. • The "new" Wagner Power Painter? Has it only been that long?

  • @MizNelson

The first one was invented in 1953 by the then 15-year-old Josef Wagner, a Polish-German painter. Wagner first made its U.S. presence in 1972, establishing its own U.S. manufacturing operations in 1978.

  • 1989 was a great year. Too bad it was tainted by Milli Vanilli (ugh)

  • This looks older than 89, I think.

  • this is got to be done either the first of 1989 or springtime of 1989. the best of saturday night live commercial was one of my favorites!!!! I used to have the best of saturday night live taped you know with the original coneheads, but my grandad taped over it with war shows, medical tv, and the like. It was tape E4 I believe, too bad I didn't take the write protect tab off that one.

  • @foxxyloxx it's 89.

  • Does anybody have that infamous Crunch n' Munch ad from the late 90's---a snooty blonde girl is going out on a date, and after she makes some thoughtless remarks about the fact that her roommate{who is eating Cn'M}is staying home tonight, she asks her how she looks, and the roommate chooses not to tell her that her skirt is bunched up and her underpants are showing?

  • I remember that! Even though she was a snob she was still hot!!

  • I remember when Nick at Nite were showing The Best of Saturday Night Live, I even remember some of these commercials too! My brother liked Crunch 'N Munch, I was not too big on it lol. :p

  • Many, many years ago I taped a Nick at Nite special called "We'll Be Right Back", a collection of TV commercials from the 1950's to the 80's. I will be posting it on Youtube very shortly!!

  • Wow it sounds great I can't wait! :)

  • Thanks! I actually did post it back in January, but due to copyright infringement Youtube pulled it off.

  • Aww that sucks, I would have loved to have seen it! I hope your able to get it back up here one day! :)

  • Me too!

  • cool. :)

  • I am trying to find a specific Mr Coffee commercial from the early 80's. I think it was about the invention of Mr Coffee. The only part of it was the middle, I remember it was "In 19-- the (Yunt) brothers tried to patent the (Yunt) combustion device----BOOM---they failed". Plaster from the ceiling fell onto this committee at a desk after they fired their cannon device. (Yunt) was only my guess as to how the name was spelled.

    Anyway it was hilarious.

  • They still had those weird beeps during the commercials? I thought those went down with the old silver pinball Nickelodeon logo.

  • So this is what Nick at Nite was like before it became hugely popular.

  • To me this is when Nick at Nite WAS popular! It was GREAT back then!! Now all it is is 24 hour Fresh Prince, Family Matters and COsby.

  • I meant before it became too widely known.

  • i know exacty what you mean. i get so tired of seeing the fresh prince, george lopez and home improvement. i wish they had better old shows on nick@nite like different strokes, punky brewster or the love boat (just examples).

p.s. i've never seen family matters on nick@nite.

  • family matters is soon 2 b aired in like may or april

  • @slydawg221 FM is on N@N now and has been for a couple years now.

  • @entertainme3000 i know it is now because i just finished watching an episode. but 2 years ago when i made that comment it wasn't.

  • @slydawg221 WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT FRESH PRINCE AND GEORGE LOPEZ IS LEGENDARY THEY ARE FUNNY

  • @michaeljackson9054 at first, yea. but not after you've seen every episode more times than you can keep count.

  • @slydawg221 well i still like

  • @michaeljackson9054 They may be funny, but they haven't been around long enough to be considered CLASSICS in the truest sense of the word. When Nick At Nite debuted the whole point was to showcase shows from an earlier era, shows you couldn't see anywhere else but were still worth watching - and in most cases far better than the new stuff. The two shows you mention are fine, but they're too modern.

  • Family Matters never aired on Nick @ Nite.

  • Until now

  • Soon

  • It airs now. since 6/29/08.

  • @jt62786 it does now!

  • Thank you, these kinds of videos are what make YouTube really special.
