  • Wow this brings back memories. spent thousands of hours playing this in college. It is literally responsible for my GPS being at least one point lower than it could have been

  • Game 1884

  • This is such a ripoff of Tank Wars 3.0

  • Love this game. I installed it on all of the computers in my high school Journalism class, much to the annoyance of my teacher. (Class of 1997.)

  • looks like a very lame rip of the Amiga's "Scored Tanks" ... will never beat that game

  • @mikeyb2k9 You do realise that Scorched Tanks came out after Scorched Earth, and was based on this one.

  • Back in the days of windows 3.1; My childhood.

  • my girlfriend hates this game kuz shes a fuckin boogerface!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The mother of all games...

  • This game set the precedent for games like Worms and Gunbound. Epic game.

  • Oh man, I loved this game. we spent hours playing SE instead of writing the programs the teacher instructed. :)

  • finally found it back lol, i used to had it on a floppy disc but i lost it.

  • It was an amazing game. I was so young at that time i didint even know how to shoot properly :D good times :)

  • I remember playing a version of this in the late 90s where the battleground was the solar system and I think you controlled space ships instead. Anyone know the name of that one?

  • @Alianger Scorched Planet

  • this brings me great memories. LOVED napalm :)

  • nice hit in 1:33

  • best game ever!!! i remember when i was i little boy i loved playing this game on my cousin's pc. i didn't have one... so many years have passed and that's the only old game i could play on and on.

  • trippy

  • :D joooo!!!! boží hra!!

  • LOVE this game.

  • This game was epic at it's time. We used to play this on the shop class computer back in the day. This game defintiely deserves a resurgence.. but it better come with a shit ton of weapons, upgrades, etc that made this game to amazing back then

better keep the classic Death's Head, Funky, and Dirt Clod bombs!

  • Alright, so I got DosBox, and I already downloaded Scorched Earth a while ago, how... um... do I start all this?

  • @TheMudDragon if your still don't know how to get it going is place the scorched earth game files in a c: directory something like Scorched, then boot dosbox and then at the prompt type Mount c: c:\(directory of the game you want to play) then c:, and then run scorch.exe(I beleived that was the name of the exe)

  • Too bad I can't get any sound out of mine, I don't have a built-in speaker in my tower.

  • @TheMudDragon you need to use an app called "dosbox", it emulates the full DOS environment, and outputs PC speaker sounds through your standard sound device.

  • ale zryte

  • Oh man, I miss this game so much, used to play it aaaaaaaaaaaages ago!

  • @ZandurOfBronte still is alive you know

  • @ZandurOfBronte you can download it...

  • I spend so much time on this. Lol.

    And Canon fodder:)

  • This was the best ever 2D game to come out for a PC, I miss it :(

  • You can still get it. just do a google search on DosBox and shorched earth.

    It is free! :-D

  • helll yes this was a good game

  • no ur just gay

  • And your a Fag. :-p

  • Das und Howitzer waren die absoluten Party games zu DOS zeiten damals :)

  • i REMEMBER THIS YOU PLAYED IT IN MS DOS

  • Man in our days, this was the best shit of all time! Large variety of weapons, multi player, and edit texts used in before fire and before death scenarios. Excellent game.

  • Nice video!

I was hoping to see one Death Head before the end though :O

I used to shoot those things high into the sky.. Everyone dies!! "Don't do it man!! Don't do it!" Boooom!

  • I love that sounds!!

  • its absolutely incredible how customizable this game was for its time :D i mean there were physics options such as air density gravity ratio and much more. awesome classic 5/5

  • I wish there were some way to buy that version

  • I loved this game. I wish we hadnt gotten rid of our old computer with it. it was the best game EVER!

  • This game deserves a PROPER remake. Yes, I know about Atomic Cannon, Pocket Tanks, etc... but none has the variety of terrains and options that Scorched Earth had...

  • I would love to see a 3-D online multiplayer version of this game on the three consoles today. Co-op and micophone compatible too. I miss the animations from this game like the vertical beam explosion and the red radius of death. Such sweet nostalgia...

  • Scorched 3D.

  • Yeah but I want one BETTER than that like for Wii, Xbox-360, PS3, etc.

  • @ rogerpenna: have you heard of Scorched 3D? I haven't played it, just know of it :P It also has online play!

  • @rogerpenna Better, I'd love to see mobile versions, Android, iPhone, etc. And a Flash game on the web. :)

  • ha...my brothers and I would play this. We use to send messages as we fired at each other. fowl language ones too. My mom gave us shit!! good times

  • This game is a freaking classic!! If you like this try Atomic Cannon it ROCKS!

  • Thats the best game ever made! Realy. I know Crysis and so on look nice, but this was much more fun. I realy love this game.

  • I found scorched 3d quite fun, its a 3d remake of this

  • this game rocked... and rocks !

  • Such a great game I would go to my cousins house every saturday and play this for hours!!!!!!

  • Such a great game, even still. I tried downloading and running it under XP but with no luck.

  • ahhh the good old days :)

  • 8 player deaths head. Bouncy walls. Insta- win.

  • this reminds me of my childhood. good old days i used to play scorch with friend for long hours

  • ive been trying to remember the name of this damn game for 3 months, and it just popped into my head a moment ago... now i get to find it and play it!!!!!!!

  • set the bomb scale to max.

  • LOL 1:43, the computer gets struck by lightning!

  • ishoot on the iphone is basically this game reincarnated

  • Love this game.

If anyone wants to play, there is an online version at scorch2000(dot)com. You can play with AI, or with other players if they log on.

Its almost the same as the original, but some of the nastalgic sound fx have been changed. However, this makes it a little less annoying.

  • does it work on vista?

  • Sorry, I'm not sure about that, as I am not exactly "tech-savvy". I play it with XP.

I guess its worth a shot.

  • poor comment

  • Comment removed

  • and that's supposed to hurt my feelings kid? grow up and make better ones yourself

  • sorry for the double response, but still its a poor comment. Not trying to hurt your feelings MISTER.

  • poor only to you, and you don't matter.

  • I don't know why you are so upset over this. All I said that it was a poor comment. Its not that big of a deal.

  • i used to play this game in high school all the time lol favorite weapons were the funky bomb and the dirt bomb used to love covering them in an assload of dirt i miss this game

  • Oh hells yeah! This game was king shit, oh for the days of freeware, wendell hicken is a god in my books.

  • beautiful! *tear of joy falls on keyboard*

  • When I was 13 & 14, I played this damn game to DEATH! I first saw it on my friends 386SX/20Mhz with 2MB of RAM. What an amazing game this was and still is. I love the types of attacks and the terrain that slides down. This game was endless fun and NEVER repetitive. I loved the NUKE type attacks and the wide verity of attacks. The Dirt bomb was effective, to bury a foe underground while you muster an attack, while they blow themselves up trying to get lose! Thanks for posting this!

  • I remember when I used to play this on lunch break when I was like twelve in the library . Lol 2 mb lol my laptop has 60 GB I thought was alot , dad buys a computer like a a year or two later and his got 250 GB shows how much computers have changed.

  • I tried to run it on vista and it says it does not support full screen. What do I do? Thanks alot for the help

  • run it in window... and with compatability for xp or lower...

  • Install DOSBOX.

  • Wow:)) it was the best game my life, I played it 14 years ago:D

  • LOL! I remember this game! The shields was the best part... :)

  • Awesome. Would have loved to see some wild Sandhog action, shield bouncing, or possibly the infamous "fill a shield with napalm" manoeuvre added to the mix.

  • Haha I remember that, it was fun. I just made the video after playing a while, and forgot about those :(

  • classic! i'd played this with 10 friends in front of 1 computer ;] pure fun! :D

  • Ah, loved playing the game :P Had an old Packard Bell.

Now, of course, with a processor 30x faster, I'm pretty much screwed xD

Brings back good memories though... The full 256 colors and PC speaker sound.

  • Soo true soo true
