You never trust a computer to fly an airplane?? Most air carrier operators, in their (Standard Operating Procedures) require the use of Autopilot for the intial climb out, cruise descent, and if the visibility is below defined instrument minimums, then autopilot is used the land the aircraft...so pls...if ur gonna post, post something with sense!
Replying to Apachecobra, it was automated a bit as its an airbus, the pilot didn't push the TO/GA button to put it into go around mode, instead it stayed in landing mode and didn't want to power up the engines. You hear the engines spool up as he presses the go around button but by that time its too late!!
I'm an A318 pilot for MXA; Airbus has the GA config, but it's not used, instead we use de FLX and the FMC must be configured before setting FLX. If it's not, the FMC will not set the right N1 configuration for you to go-around. In this case the problem was a bad configuration of the FMC. Captain Hugo Azamar.
lol.. i remember this... the Airbus A320 crew lived, thank goodness.. they were doing a flyby for an airshow. The host is talking about computers because in this case, the computer wanted to land, and the pilot wanted to go back up
the reactions of the people filming this are a tad worrying . they watch the plane land in the forest and then they watch it blow up in the forest , and then (!!!) they react to it and say "oh no , oh no" . lol
my god you mac fans are fucking relentless. SHUT THE FUCK UP

I wouldn't fly anymore then. Unless you're on Northwest's DC-9s.

It must have been programmed by Microsoft. They're pretty good at making things that crash.

You are nineteen and a pilot, when the education atleast takes three years...?

Maybe next time!!! Computers are not at the level for full control of an airplane.
