@Eleetnessful This couldn't be more wrong, those were army pilots 160th SOAR. There are several accounts of Seals providing sniper and long range support at that incident. I believe everyone who died at the Mogadishu battle was attached to the Army and no other branch.

To put a number on anything who killed more people is just wrong anyway. Rangers are special operations qualified and the only Special Ops in the Marines are technically MARSOC. Marines are maybe at the same level as airborne (as far as infantry not airborne qualified)

Because the marines are part of the navy and are not their own branch, they have always had the "special operations capable" tag, until MARSOC was created a few years ago. Division Recon marines are easily on the level or army rangers, while Force Recon operators (although operating under USMC operations and not SOCOM) are right there along side Green berets, Seals etc. MARSOC is now the elite tier of the marine corps.

DEVGRU is formally SEAL team six. SEAL team six is what it was was called "informally." As "Delta Force" isn't formally called Delta Force. It's real name is Special Forces Operational Detachment- Delta, or commonly seen as SFOD-D.
@xXRiskyChoiceXx SEALs do have snipers in their units. Each member of a SEAL team specializes in something, including sniping. Scout Snipers get all the attention but that doesn't mean other kinds of snipers are not worthy of such a task. Even the Coast Guard uses snipers to disable the engines of drug running boats from helicopters.

This is total bs. Team Six is so secretive that not even the normal SEALS know who they are. The name "Team Six" was created to fool Soviet intelligence of how many elite SEAL teams there are - which is two at this point. They don't operate under standard military protocol as they mostly run black ops. So given that they are the most secretive division of the U.S military I think that they can keep their members free from popping up Google images. Cool video but none of these guys are Team Six.

Fort Campbell is the home of 160th SOAR (special operations aviation regiment), the helicopter pilots that flew DEVGRU to Pakistan, thats where the president met both units involved in the operation.....
@fitzyuc It's never been confirmed, but the person who made recommendations to the President and basically oversaw the operation was VADM William McRaven who is a Navy SEAL. I don't see why a Navy SEAL would recommend Delta Force when DEVGRU is just as capable, if not more capable, as they have been operating along the Afghan-Pakistani border since 2001.
if you want to be part of this specific group in the seals youll have to be capable of running 5 minute miles for half an hour be able to do push ups for 3 minutes straight at a high pace as well as sit ups and pull ups. and be able to swim like you were a mermaid. which believe it or not for the people who do this is fun lol.
For a year all I've been doing is learning about 'em. I know more about SEALs than almost any other civilian, and I'm super, super tough and never quit. A year may not seeem that long, but you can learn a LOT in a year.

I know it's hard, but I am preparing every day both physically and mentally for BUD/S. I hope I can have the honor of being a SEAL some day. And the other thing, Grenada and Somolia were completly diferent than the Beslan mission. In Grenada, it was to protect Scoon's house and and attack and radio station, and in Somolia, for what I know, it was provide sniper cover while Delta fast-roped in and took the prisonners. Hostage Rescue is totally different from the three missions I mentioned above. I know Spetsnaz is good, I just think the SEALs are a little better.
(Continued) if the spetsnaz would've used SEAL tactics, they would've relized you're not supposed to commit suicide by running through the fatal funnel, you're supposed to throw in a flash bang grenade, or snipe the terrorists from outside the building, which the spetsnaz eventually did. The SEALs would've ecomplished the mission right the first time, and without losses. The spetsnaz is really good, but not US Navy SEAL good. @TheNavysealsrock you can't outright say that SEALs would accomplish and mission the first time without getting it right. They have been to hell and back in many missions losing men. I didn't see them doing all their missions right in Somalia, or Grenada.

@Eleetnessful When you say team 6 selection isnt a buds x2 and its just a this and that is just a pure guess because the truth is no body knows much of anything about it except that it is called the "green course" and and interview is part of it.(just like there is in delta's selection) And Black Hawk was entirly an army operation thats why rangers and delta were front and center. A few members of ST6 were only there just to help out as part of a cross branch intergration.

Because the marines are part of the navy and are not their own branch, they have always had the "special operations capable" tag, until MARSOC was created a few years ago. Division Recon marines are easily on the level or army rangers, while Force Recon operators (although operating under USMC operations and not SOCOM) are right there along side Green berets, Seals etc. MARSOC is now the elite tier of the marine corps.

This is total bs. Team Six is so secretive that not even the normal SEALS know who they are. The name "Team Six" was created to fool Soviet intelligence of how many elite SEAL teams there are - which is two at this point. They don't operate under standard military protocol as they mostly run black ops. So given that they are the most secretive division of the U.S military I think that they can keep their members free from popping up Google images. Cool video but none of these guys are Team Six.

And the other thing, Grenada and Somolia were completly diferent than the Beslan mission. In Grenada, it was to protect Scoon's house and and attack and radio station, and in Somolia, for what I know, it was provide sniper cover while Delta fast-roped in and took the prisonners. Hostage Rescue is totally different from the three missions I mentioned above. I know Spetsnaz is good, I just think the SEALs are a little better.

(Continued) if the spetsnaz would've used SEAL tactics, they would've relized you're not supposed to commit suicide by running through the fatal funnel, you're supposed to throw in a flash bang grenade, or snipe the terrorists from outside the building, which the spetsnaz eventually did. The SEALs would've ecomplished the mission right the first time, and without losses. The spetsnaz is really good, but not US Navy SEAL good. I'm just stating the facts and am not trying to offend anyone.

@TheNavysealsrock you can't outright say that SEALs would accomplish and mission the first time without getting it right. They have been to hell and back in many missions losing men. I didn't see them doing all their missions right in Somalia, or Grenada.

@MH60KSOAR well, ok, I admit it, I was exagerating a bit about not losing men,but in Beslan, all you had to do was throw in a couple of flash-bangs, SEALs run into building while terrorists are still disoriented, their snipers give tthem cover, and you kill all the terrorists and you've won. I mean, SEALs train for all the time in those kill houses.
