@jonatcer This is painterly pack. It can be fount at painterlypack(dot)net. Another good pack is Brown and Bloom. There's also a pack called "Arid" or something like that; it looks pretty cool too.

Using the number pad on a keyboard for locations:
Put redstone dust at 5, and a gold bar at 2, 4, 6, and 8! It's just like making a compass, but with gold instead of iron.

Your question about brightness, if you're using Vegas just add a Brightness VideoFX filter to your clip(s) and start with around 5%.
Just remember YouTube seems to eat gamma for breakfast :)
