  • WTF the skidpad and the slalom, this is a rally car, a ZR1 has WAY more grip. Although maybe for the gymkhana he need less to slide it. Not setup for road grip. The 0-60 is crazy and the quarter mile is really good.

  • i think what people dont realize is that this car is meant for gymkhana which = drift. therefore it would naturally not have maximum grip as it is tuned to drift. if crawford had tuned it for grip im sure that number would be much larger

  • @glazealotabrass420 he minimum has two fiestas...if you take a closer look you'll see, that they are not even the same model... the gymkhana is a 5door and the rally is a 3door, and they has different bodykits on so...

  • @TheRottenChicken966 - Actually this car was on street tires, the same tires that were used during the Gymkhana 2 filming, g-Force T/A KDW 2 with a tread-wear rating of 300, you can tell by the skid-pad.

    These are not a sticky tire by any means, but they love to smoke. If it had slicks or even something stickier it would definitely be quite a bit faster in the 1/4, slalom, skidpad, 0-60 and 60-0 tests. Would love to see how fast all the Gymkhana cars are against each other. :)

  • @snowyphil65 its not jus about skidpad numbers, its how the tire behaves at the limit and gives a controllable slide. Though having a high ass limite past 1G and STILL giving smooth breakaway characterisitics would be even better.

  • Eh....I thought it would be better. The AMS evo runs 10.17 1/4 miles so im sure the 0-60 is about upper 2s. 60-0 in 116ft, slalom is 72.7 and 1.02g. But the suburu is pretty hot though. BTW the evo was a GSR. The duel clutch transmission would improve the time, but we will see. But otherwise, the wrx is pretty steller.

    oh and they use the hatchback shape because it's a sturdier frame than a sedan and equates to less body roll, which means better handling.

  • @PigeonLaughter I think you're mistaken there. This car is designed to let go unlike a regular car as if it's driving on gravel. If it pulls 1.5g it mean it will not slide at all which will be faster around a track but not that entertaining to watch.

  • @PigeonLaughter actually no... subaru decided to switch to hatch for AERO reasons. With WRC cages the torsional rigidity differences between a sedan and hatch is a wash.

It's setup is very similar to the drift cars and not even drift cars can pull .9Gs. You have to remember that this car was never built with maximum grip in mind.

  • @PigeonLaughter Your contour can pull 0.9gs maybe but your missing out the dynamic handling limits are different than a flat skidpad result. When dynamic forces are applied to the suspension and body, the car can easily exhibit unpredictable handling characteristics that limit the real life road cornering conditions where the roads aren't always flat like the skidpad.

  • @TheMentalFlakes , Its called a roof scoop , they take fresh air into the cockpit ( where the driver sits ) , and on rear engine cars they can even be made to bybass the cockpit and take air straight to the engine at the back of the car to cool it down.
