I was wondering if you heard of the Kickstarter project by Double Fine heads Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert to create an adventure game. They asked for $400,000 and got over 2.4 MILLION dollars so far, enough to make 6 of these games.
So you say adventure games have the quality of NY Times best sellers. Just to let you know, Twilight is a NY Times best seller. It just means what sells the best and says nothing about quality. It's purely statistical.
@CrazyCheeseMagee So what you’re saying is that gexup is not allowed to make a comparison to adventure games to NYT best sellers because Twilight was one of them? You’re depicting Times for just one series that you don’t like while there's SO many of them that offered the greatest stories ever told like Blankets, Green Mile, Harry Potter, and thousands more. Something tells me that you should read a book if you want the best story cause games abandoned great stories for action
@hoobajoe All I'm saying is that NYT Bestsellers has nothing to do with actual positive reviews of books from, say, the NYT Book Review. Gexup seemed to be implying that there is a connection. It's a strictly statistical list. You like something that's a bestseller? More power to you. I like stuff from that list too, like Harry Potter and I was Told There'd be Cake.
You know how some popular stuff is good and a lot of it is bad? But they're both still popular? Same deal.
you should so one on Spooky games like Luigi's Mansion or Nightmare Before Christmas Oogie's Revenge which are Halloween based games that are family friendly but can still make you jump (those ghost appearing in Luigi's Mansion always make me jump)
My sister was like 7 and she got stuck. I was like 3 or 4 and couldn't talk yet,but I kept pointing at what my sister should do. When she listened to me it actually turned out I had everything right xDD.
I've played I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream when I was 8. And it changed me... On the other hand Blade Runner and The Last Express are possibly the best cinematic adventure games I've ever experienced.
i just finish Machinarium and i realy love it and now i am searching for more games like that, i am fucking borde of FPS..... But the most of the adventure games came out before 2008... anyway if u know anything good pls tell me
@gexup review my fave game shenmue? Its a game that involves fighting task and exploration and a very suprising plot twist. I seriously suggest you play this because i think this would be a great game for you
Adventure games were really complexed and because back then people couldnt go to the internet to find answers, they had to think really hard to continue the storyline. but cant you agree some of the puzzles were hard and annoying. like in "the day of the tentacle" you had to send bloopers from the future to the past and then make a costume to the future again
you forgot to mention exploration at the part where you were talking about the things that make adventure games adventure games. exploration is even more important then puzzles.
@mkocja5a Then how can you explore without unlocking the puzzle? Puzzles are there to keep you from exploring and reaching to your goal.
Not to mention that there are other video game genre that "have" exploration like 3D Platformers, FPS, and more. So really, to say that adventure games are the only genre that has exploration is irrelevant.
@Hentarded False. Tell them that if you've played any FPS or seen an action film then you've pretty much played CoD too, since it just borrows the most basic gameplay elements from any FPS, and cliches from action films. Also, tell them Activision is helping kill the gaming industry by releasing expensive rehashes year by year, all based on 30+ year old cliches - not to make any landmarks innovation - just for more and more money. Lastly, the online community for CoD is among the worst.
You are the best video-game reviewer on youtube, just in my opinion. You have the passion and knowledge. Are you working for Video-game industry? I would not be surprised!
17:10 I'm 13, and I would gladly play Secret of Monkey Island over another rehash Call of Duty FPS. My friends at school say that CoD is their favorite game of 2010, but I loved Heavy Rain much more. I know games aren't about story, but I love to play a game like Sam & Max because I can sit back, laugh at the cutscenes, and figure a way to solve the puzzles. The swiss cheese part of Episode 1 was the most creative thing I've seen in a game! And that was just the beginning of the game!
How... HOW DO YOU MANAGE IT!? To put in emotional stuff like waning franchises and issues of modern society while remaining viewable for all audiences, in a genre review!
By the way, if it wasn't for TellTale releasing the Sam and max games AND the latest Back to the future games... I probably wouldn't of realized how fun Adventure games actually are.
you know what you should do, review the myst trilogy (MYST, RIVEN, and EXILE) theres a fourth one too but i havent played it and i dont know anything about it, but if you want........
Excellent job dude. Lot's of top-grade titles. I also found it interesting that you borrowed footage from that Discovery Channel programme. =D Saw a lot of games that I recognised which was great. Keep up the good work.

So, i recomend that you play these games before you make coments.
@simboyc100 STFU, Halo and Half Life 2 are the same shit as to all other FPS games; just shoot every bad guy. Plot twist and fucking cliff-hangers does not qualify as a 'good story" PERIOD! Read a book and play an adventure game, then you can speak.
Calling Halo & Half Life a "good story" is like saying Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a good movie. Judging by the way you spell, you must be a kid because the word "they" is not spell "thay." Fuck sake, read a book and get smart, dumbass
