Also, the grass wasn't as well-maintained as Wimbledon's courts are. Add that plus the fact that Australia was played around Christmas back in those days. Even when they moved to Melbourne Park, Mac only played twice there, in 1990 and 1992.

The most natural volley ever.....my opinion. This match was proof of his real talent. If he had better control of his temper I believe he could have dominated Wimbledon for years!
That court surface has always been so hard to see the ball on anyways (watching it on TV). These old matches were fantastic to watch. I graduated from high school in '84 and played first singles for my school. Loved watching Mac, Connors, Lendl and the rest back then! Wish I had all of these videos!!
