Everybody talks about the Roaring 20's but nobody ever talks about how it happened. Coolidge cut taxes and spending over 50%. Intern, the roaring 20's. FDR spent us into oblivion and only cut taxes. He only did half the job. They didnt put term limits on FDR IMMEDIATELY after he left for nothing. Cut taxes and cutting spending works every time.

Investors on Wall Street started taking out loans to buy more stocks. Investors started risky speculative investing. The system they had at the time delayed the current stock prices. That led to panic selling. The crash took place over 5 days. It had to do with risky investing NOT taxes and spending cuts. That doesnt cause crashes

The great depression is the history lesson, the job "creators" had all the money during the depression. It was FDR's New Deal that lead to economic prosperity.

If you ask Sarah Palin just one substative question on world policy she wouldn't know how to answer it. We need a president who can deal with the world not a hockey mom. Like her all you want but believe me she will never come close to the presidency.

What is your evidence of this? From everything I hear and see, she is exactly what we need. She has the common sense EVERY mainstream politician lacks and is for small government and more individual rights. Sarah is not caught up in the political machine like Obama is that leads to trillion dollar so-called "bailout" that do nothing more but pay back those who supported him at the taxpayer expense.

Forget about politics and ask yourself one question? Is she able to negotiate a treaty, or does she have a handle on important issues. The first time I see her make a intelligent argument I'll change my mind about her.

Yes I do. And Sarah has a GREAT handle on the issues.

Economics- she wants less spending and less taxes. (Good luck finding that anywhere else by someone who actually means it)

Corruption- She has a track record of fighting it and not getting involved in it! Who else can say that!?

So these are the two major issues as of now and I can thin of no one else who is willing to take these common sense steps.

Roosevelt had the depression to deal with and the only way to get this country out of third world status was to spend our way out of it. We aren't facing normal times hear.

Now I know you do don;t really study economic history and are going by the democrat talking points. If you care to do some homework, you will learn the spending under Roosevelt actually lengthened the depression by devaluating the dollar and creating an environment that made it harder for businesses to grow as well as destroy America's buying power. And now we have Obama doing it and an even faster scale and the same effects are taking place but worse due to the democrat controlled congress.

That bail out money was done by Bush and it needed to be done. No one liked it but if we didn't do it our economy would have collapsed thanks to the 8 Bush years.

What needs to be done is for congress to cut spending by 30% immediately! But the democrat controlled congress is more concerned about buying votes and fulfilling their narcissism than doing what is right for this country.

You can have the audacity to think that one view point is the only possible answer... look at what Mr. Harding did to solve a recession more dramatic than the great depression. He pulled the us out in less than a year by letting the market work. And I don't like bush either.... but Obama is a Bush that spends EVEN MORE. And beyond simply saying 'the economy would have collapsed", tell me HOW AND WHY it would have collapsed.

Well although I do agree with you that they need to cut spending. I must respectfully disagree on the premise that the reason they won't is because it is a democrat controlled congress. Politicans in general are not interested in cutting spending. Some are against increasing spending but even fewer are interested in cutting spending. They all want to spend money in their own state.

You are correct both spend, but congress last had a balanced budget when republicans were in control of congress. You can check the record yourself. When the stopped doing that, they were voted out. Unfortunately for America, they voted in the democrats to control congress and we are now spending at the fastest rate in history at a time when we can afford not to. Our country us sure to fail if they continue with programs like health care and cap and trade.

Only the first one was done by Bush, which involved Fannie/Freddie and they have a government component to them. Most Republicans voted against Bush's bailout, fyi, and most Democrats voted for it. Bush and McCain sided with the Democrats.

However, the continued bailouts of private companies, most notably the auto industry, were 100% Obama and the Democrats. Nearly every single Republican opposed those bailouts if you look at the vote breakdown.
