I'm getting a kick out of listening to this. Kent Hatteberg was a student teacher at my high school in Iowa, so I guess we could stake a claim to being his "first" choir?!?!
Is Dr. Hatteburg still at U of L? I'm an ex student of his myself, but I'd heard he went to Florida or something. (He's pretty good on the basketball court too. Go figure! =) )
Yes, he's still there, and still on the basketball court when he has time. Would you believe that I've followed him for over twenty years and am just now watching these YouTube videos? Shame on me!
I don't know if is the right tempo, I agree with everything else you said. I'd add that the armonies (don't know how to spell it) are very clear and undertandale. I find it a little bit bored and slow, but very very very nice!!! awsome work!!!
I rather like it that slow; it is a calm song, giving comfort and encouragement... "For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone."
I have another recording from some European choir, who sings very much the same tempo.
Thank-you! UofL is a FINE school. Dr. Kent Hatteberg is the finest conductor I've worked with, and one of the best I've ever seen. We had a blast performing this.
That was quite lovely. Quite a lot of sound too.

Yeah, Hatteberg is still there. Though he's not playing much ball these days.

Just great. Very beautiful, the right tempo, and perfect German pronounciation. And one of my favorite pieces from Mendelssohn.

It's probably the acoustics or the recording, but I'd like to hear more of the men. Otherwise very nice indeed! I love the focus everyone shows.
