This is our country too and if the majority of people want to leave the UK and become independent then it is just something not only you have to but will NEED to accept ! @TheErmerm999 Scotland would have a border in exactly the same way it has now. If Scotland and England become EU member states then there would be no need for passports or even immigration checks, just like you don't need passports to enter Germany from France.

@glasgow1234 Exactly, but you need passports to enter France to get to Germany! If Scotland became independent and joined the EU, it would be obliged to join the Schengen Area (passport free area). Since the UK and Ireland ARE NOT part of this, there WOULD have to be immergration controls as Scotland could not control who came in from inside the Schengen. Say for example someone from Sudan, entered Greece, they would then be allowed ANYWHERE in the Schengen Area without a passport cont. 1

That would mean boarder and passport checks between Scotland and the UK and Ireland (as Ireland is also not in Schengen). Scottish people would still be allowed to enter visa free, but would still have to go through immergration control to stop non-EU citizens entering.

@glasgow1234 Ireland never helped us and they were independent. The point is we fought together, and we share the same culture. I love the the United Kingdom, please stop trying to erase our history and divide our island.
@ShitMovies2000 Ireland never helped us? Are you serious?? The country may have been neutral but that didn't stop irish men and women fighting in the British, American armies. Over 20,000 Irish people died in WW2 fighting with us. And we DO NOT share the same culture. Scotland has a completely distinct seperate culture from the rest of the UK. British culture is English culture. And i am not trying to erase anything. We will always have our shared history.

When people think of British culture they think of the queen, tea, red buses and phoneboxes, fish and chips. Have you ever heard of British bagpipes, kilts, british haggis? NO!
