I don't know about anyone else, but I had teeth pulled, will definately need partials and eventually full dentures, but my jaw shattered where a tooth was pulled on top, and on bottom I have small bone fragments coming through my gums!! it's painful, I had these teeth extracted 1 month ago and my jaw is still tender ( dentist said it should take 6-8 weeks to heal) I've had teeth pulled before and had fractures, but this was crazy!!! worst pain ever
...happens after surgery. I just found that I have diabetes too so my level of freak is really HIGH! The only up side to this for me is that I could lose a few lbs. and from what you said it looks like I might just do that! Thankfully I have God on my side and I'm going to be praying for strength and I know he will comfort me. Now I know what to expect, thank you so much for your time and insight, it helps me to know now what I have ahead of me and what I need to do to prepare for it. Thank you!
I'm really glad I found your post, I'm having a full upper and lower extraction on Nov. 9th and right now I'm freaking out! I just had a 360 disk replacement surgery in May of this year and the pain from that is still fresh in my mind and to have to have a second major surgery so soon is totally blowing my mind to say the least! I'm terrified to be honest. I had no idea what to expect from this surgery so I'm really glad I found you and learned what you went through so I have a idea of what.
First of all I just want to say that you and your smile are beautiful. I was told last week that I needed to get my top teeth pulled all 5 of them lol. I,ve had a parcial denture for about 10 yrs.At first I said no. then I went on the internet and came across your videos, and they changed my mind. I am worried because I have the county med. program and I'm worried about the quality of how they will look and fit.Should I be worried ??
Hi there!! I haev my left up and under tooth extracted last week (16th)... It has going very well and I can eat allmost everything. but now I have this weird feeling my cheek (espacially in the upper jaw-area) is sort of numb... It feels like my muscles are still sedated... Is this a normal thing? (I wouldn't appreciated it to watch out not to drool my whole life;-) )
I had imm. dents made by a dental lab about three ago and the dentist who pulled my teeth was cranky about putting it in since it wasn't one he made. Well, he basically handed them back to me in the same bag I brought them in and the denture clinic has been working with me ever since to get them in.
Well, I can say that you are on the spot about how you feel when you come home and look in the mirror. But u have to let the adult side of ur mind run the show and do what we have to do.

You can be a model even with your dentures. I go for surgery on June 17th. Dentist said my teeth are strong but medicine I am on is hard on them. Great videos!
Thanks so much for opening up and making these videos...I'm 26 years old and just two days ago I had 15 teeth extracted for partials. It goes without saying that I felt nervous, to say the least, and ashamed about my predicament. Right now, my face is starting to really swell up...and I guess the reality of the situation is really starting to sink in. They told me it's going to be 4-6 weeks before I can be fitted. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks...this really helps a lot.
@SavingEverySecond Hey no prob- So we are around the same age:-) I get plenty of emails from people our age who go through the same thing so I feel fine with the whole thing. If you watch my very first video, you could probably tell I was a little nervous about the whole thing- and I was. I still had some insecurities. But after doing this for a few months and speaking to so many people in the same boat I realize it's not THAT bad and definitely could be worse! Good luck with everything!
i have to commend you for this post, it took a lot of courage!
I had beautiful teeth all my life so im a bit of a different story but my teeth kept getting worse and worse after the meds i have to take wreck them , plus abuse. My parents took great care of my teeth so it is NOT from neglect, etc.The advice of 7 dentists. YES 7. I had 6 root canals and 8 cavities and my teeth just disinigrated...I was heartbroken . after a few days it got better but the knot under my nose. Thanx for this!
I'm 41 years old,and having my extractions tomorrow morning! I'm so very scared. But wanted to thank you for all your videos and information. I'm having full upper denture and lower partial. I have given birth three times naturally and wasn't this terrified. I really appreciate all the information you have given. It's nice to here what is about to happen to me. Hope I can get through this!!!!!Begging for prayers:)
@333oakley333 You absolutely will get through it. Recovering from childbirth takes months- this sets you back a couple weeks LOL. I could have never delivered naturally so I applaud you for that haha. You will do just fine. You will probably be out of it. You are gonna look pretty goofy for a while, as we all do, so expect it. But once you get past those first couple weeks you will see it isn't bad at all. If I can help answer any questions, message me!
Your next reline should stay tighter longer because by then your gum shrinkage should start to slow down. With more practice your tongue and cheeks will prevent them from shifting around. Give it a couple of more days and your eating should improve.
@Racer079 My eating has definitely improved. I still can't eat tough meat or crunchy foods but I have started eating things like chicken, fish and sandwiches again;-p
The looseness you are feeling at this point is perfectly normal as your gums continue to shrink. The shrinkage will continue for up to 12 months. I think that you are doing very well with your dentures.

@Racer079 Well that really sucks LOL. Do you know about when I can expect to eat again without them shifting everywhere?
