  • I have a big muff and I may switch over to this.

  • so, is this one better (more versatile?) than the big muff?

  • I loved the oscillation!!

  • @Danthehorse

which is why it has been heard on countless recor- oh wait.

  • Can somebody please tell me that intro song? Before the demo even starts.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheSpearsProductions Three months late, but I believe the song is "Red House" by Jimi Hendrix

  • can someone explain to me the difference between fuzz and normal distortion

  • @skull9111 Distortion focuses more on that saturation to get nice and thick tones. Fuzz is more along the lines of a REALLY pushed amp, partially broken speaker kinda stuff. Fuzz is just dirty and gritty.

  • @skull9111 fuzz is fuzzy

  • After trying a lot of fuzzes, this one is still one of my favourites.

  • Hey PGS!

I'm having trouble deciding how to accomplish the guitar tone used by the current noise-rock bands like No Age and Japandroids, as well as that classic My Bloody Valentine tone.

    Would this pedal achieve that?

  • @0xYurix0 what kinda bullshit is that

all fuzz-pedals aint cheaper than distortion-pedals

  • This one or...Big Muff?

  • @snk07 depends on what you want. this one sounds a little closer to a fuzz face than a muff. i find the muff has too much gain for my liking.

  • @snk07 if you go muff DONT buy the EHX, its an unmusical POS. Plenty of other far better muff variants out there, Stomp Under Foot Ram Head & Civil War, even BYOCs muffs are far superior.

  • @snk07 the MXR...Big Muff sounds nice and wooly , but a litttle to metal and smooth for my taste. its up to you.

  • I use a drive pedal through the lead channel of my amp and get a similar sound, does it ruin the tubes ?

  • @SavageDutchman Nope.

  • Can you imagine Varg Vikerness used some of these effects for his solo project 'Burzum', just because he hadn't money to buy real distortion. He used it in 'Filosofem'..

  • Anyone put this pedal before your ODs ?

  • so.. this or he way huge swollen pickel fuzz?

  • I feel like it may be a silly question, but would this be a good pedal for Kyuss or stoner-rock/metal bands?

  • @Falling2Grey29

    Of course =]

  • Hartman geranium fuzz(orange color) is wayyyyy better :) Dont get me wrong I love MXR

  • i want a 65 amp SoHo.....

  • Has this pedal a good sustain?

  • Does anyone know how it sound with an MxR 10-Band EQ??

  • i need FUZZ

  • This is a great pedal but it has one flaw, namely that the LEDs are ridiculously bright, like arc welder bright. I'm probably going to do some surgery on mine and put some series resistance in there to tame them.

  • @1Doz or just put some tape over them.

  • RED HOUSE!!!!!!! I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THIS TONE FOREVER!!!

  • Awesome! The buffer putz the fuzz on a leash, seems better to control... looking foward to use one of these to play pink floyd!

And also, PGS demos always with pristine clean tone! You guys rock!

    Cheers from Brazil.

  • One of the best and underrated fuzz pedals out there.

  • red haus!!!

  • Avoid "annoying oscillation"?

    Wtf!?!

Fuzz+Wah oscillation is the most beautifullest sound in this world. Too few use it though.

  • what's the difference between this one and the jimi hendris fuzz

  • PGS, MXR m173 classic fuzz or electro harmonix muff, which of the two would you advice?

    thanks!

  • @plectrum94 They're nothing alike. Not all fuzz pedals make the same sound. The Big Muff makes a completely different "fuzz" sound to this.

  • what song is the intro song

  • @ilovegibsons1 red house - jimi

  • @bumsex4me hah i know that i meen from 0:01 to 0:05

  • @ilovegibsons1 its something Andy made up with PGS, he sed in another demo vid

  • is this good for playing faster stuff with distortion, like paul gilbert, or steve vai??? if not what pedals are good for that...

  • 0:07 anyone hear red house?

  • Comment removed

  • Check out my page...new videos soon

  • you guys are all fucking nerds!! get watsed!!

  • @TheRedscarfs I refuse to watsed myself!

  • it has a nice sound, but i think im looking for a fuzz that more "extreme" sounding.

  • @theillfrisch totally dude. maestro fuzz will do the trick but you wont find those anywhere. (same with tonebenders)

  • Dunlop's epic!!! They make my favourite fuzz pedals, my favourite ping-pong bats, tyres & plectrums :D

  • what song its in 00:05?

  • @nirvanalive4ever Red House by Jimi Hendrix

  • @McFro95 im sorry, i didnt ask for Red house, i made a mistake, i was asking for the song of the beginning, i dont know if its a song of PGS or a real song

  • @nirvanalive4ever you mean 0:07 ?

well, my honest friend, that's "red house" from hendrix.

  • @nirvanalive4ever

    red house - jimi hendrix

  • Guitar compressor

  • i just bout the voodoo lab super fuzz. Definetly aint super ima change it or this

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos or anyone else! I'm quite new to the world of effects pedals. Can you tell be what's the difference between Fuzz (like this pedal) and distortion (like you can get on the amplifier itself by turning the pre-amp gain up on the non-clean channel). I may be being silly, but can't tell the difference. Thanks!

  • @christhesnaildriver They are both technically distortion but fuzz is a very un natural sound and is called fuzz because of how much fatter and fizzier it sounds than regular distortion. Just look up some vids of distortion pedals and amps on here and compare their sound to that of this fuzz pedal. You have to hear the difference to understand.

  • great fuzz!!!

  • Does this pedal handle buffered input signal? Like form a wireless system for example...

  • i played the pedal its great.but it has not enough distortion...the reason why i didint buy it

  • i hated the sound of fuzz till i just heard this pedal....

  • I have GOT to get one of these. This seems to sound even better than the Dunlop JH-F1 (at least in the videos you made). Same amp? And yes, I appreciate you playing the chords with it. So many guys just noodle, and it makes it hard to get a real-world idea of how it sounds. That said, I''ll be bringing my Fuzz Haze with me when I play tonight. Glad I gave it another shot before selling/trading it for something else. It's got way-more of a silicon texture to it than I had remembered.

  • voice: from apple? (i know absolutely unnecessary)

  • is this a good pedal for the price? Or is very expensive?

  • @eukicos judge for youself

  • now I want one...

  • PGS, is the phase before or after the fuzz? Thanks

  • Would you recommend this pedal for Maggot Brain solo?

  • @Alu122112211221

    Definitely.

  • How much does it cost?

  • hmmm im looking for that bluesy rock sound from the classic rock era...this pedal might do the work

  • wow this is what im lookin for for a little dan auerbach feel that sounds great

  • Comment removed

  • PGS.

i just bought this fuzz. en when i play with it . the sound will some times swoop in and out. the kind of effect when you close a noise gate to far. is this normal?

  • Is this for stoner/doom metal. I'm trying to get an Electric Wizard type sound.

  • @Imptheshrimp - Jus from EW uses an old BOSS FZ-2 - which aren't made anymore. The current BOSS fuzz, the FZ-5, is NOT the same as the FZ-2. A Big Muff will get you closer to EW's sound than this pedal here.

  • @tony93666 I was looking closely at the FZ-2 also, didn't know it's not made anymore. I think I'll probably end up getting the Big Muff, then. Thanks mate.

  • What's the song in 0:00 - 0:07?

  • is this good for some white stripes

  • @PMOCAPALDI if you want white stripes get a big muff dude.

  • is this good for some white stripes

  • dont like it because it dont have too much gain

  • @riquelme64 mongo only like metal, he want more gain. gain good for mongo who understand only one tone

  • Red House!)Cool)

  • silicon- they make boobies out of that

  • @TheSchoolsux345 Boobies are birds, Titties are breasts

  • @TheSchoolsux345 No, it's silicone that they make boobs out of, not silicon. Nice try though.

  • @GrahamYoungGuitar however boobs and guitar pedals put together would be sorta cool

  • @VictorC53 put your guitar in your woman's input and your amp in your woman's output and try to select the Volume and Fuzz by squeezing your woman's left / right nipple

and tell me about the sound! :D

  • There's a red house over Yonder, that's where my baby stays...

  • I had a Boss Heavy Metal HM-2 and now I understand that what I had was actually a fuzz pedal.

  • oscilation! gives me goosebumps. sounds like hendrix, and thats why i like that sound. lol

  • hey Andy was that The Black Keys at 4:16?

  • ouch that sound with the fuzz @ full and with the buffer... oooohhh that sound is nice

  • what guitar is this played on?

  • Lookiing for that early Sabbath tone check out the Seymour Duncan Tweak Fuzz . The price is right and it gets the job done very well. Its not a heavy fuzz as far a sound goes but it does work. Look here on you tube there are a few examples of the Sabbath vibe going on.

  • was he using a les paul

  • can this give a good stoner metal and stoner rock and sabbath tone?

  • maybe I'm spoiled by Devi Ever and ZVex but this doesn't have enough FUZZ!

  • PGS, is the wah before or after the fuzz?

  • The wah is placed before the fuzz. That's where you will run into unwanted oscillation without a buffer.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos

what will happen if you place it after the fuzz

  • @TheGuitarMartin it just sounds a bit different, nothing more. I know so many players (including me) who prefer to place them like you said. Hendrix placed his wah before the fuzz as PGS suggested, though. So i think it's just a matter of taste.

  • @SpeakToMe73 the wah is always before any other pedal. it needs the most power

  • @Liq0ur Power? You get power from your power supply. I personally like wah before distortion but after fuzz. Besides, octave and pitch bending pedals come first.

  • I bought this pedal for my girlfriend on her birthday, and she doesn't play guitar, but I do.

  • you are a horrible boyfriend.

  • @HalfBillion haha

  • LEGEND.

  • Nice

  • What a great idea! We've got an anniversary coming up! The wife could be getting one of these! HA HA!

  • @HalfBillion lmao. hell yah.

  • @HalfBillion lol, you rock :p

  • @HalfBillion lol, you rock :p

  • @HalfBillion lol!

  • @HalfBillion WIN :D

  • @HalfBillion lol

ur girlfriend must hate u for that

  • @HalfBillion THAT'S F**king AWESOME!! lmao

  • @HalfBillion ...that gives me ideas,lol

  • @HalfBillion How much did it cost?

  • i cant decide between this or electro harmonix big muff

  • have the same problem.. just with the boss ds-1 distortion pedal

  • This is way better for Jimi than the Fuzz Face....

  • this IS the fuzz face

  • So should I get this or the Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face?

  • Andy, I've just gotta ask you if you have got any band or if you record any music yourself? I'd love to hear that.

  • was that red house i heard? :)

  • yep ;)

  • I never use the buffer. Good ol' oscillation.

  • im new to getting into pedals im in a pop punk band and im looking for a good fuzz pedal but idk what to get can anyone help?

  • @hyp3rspaz101 BUY THIS !!!! or a BOSS !!! are the best !

  • Blackout Effectors!

  • i might be able to help, my advice/recommendation: GET OUT OF THAT PUNK BAND!

  • devi ever fuzz pedals are way better

  • nice, red house was always one of my favorite hendrix tunes, I'll really look into buying this pedal.

  • what is the best fuzz pedal for jimmy page/ early zeppelin stuff?

  • @TheFoOl2411

I don't think that Page used fuzz but rather distortion... If your looking for something cool, i dig the Blues Driver BD2.

  • @TheFoOl2411

I believe he used a Roger Mayer fuzz but there is so much bull about his early gear.

In the studio it´s probably only those Supro amps he liked but live it certainly sounds like he´s got a pedal of some sort. I´d like to know myself :)

  • @drSwan77

Live was the natural overdrive of his Marshall 1959 SLP that he had modified with KT88 tubes to bump it to 200 watts. no overdrive pedals live.

  • I read somewhere on the web that he used a cranked up Vox AC30 on the 2 first albums of Led Zeppelin, then I tried to put my Telecaster into my AC30 which I crancked up and played Communication Breakdown, that was exactly the same sound... So I don't think he used any fuzz il the very early Led Zep.

But I also read that Roger Mayer made him some fuzz pedals, as for Jimi Hendrix, so... if it's not too expansive for you, try Roger Mayer . (for me these are the best fuzz pedals ever made)

  • that intro sound fuzzy and really cool . any knows what type of fuzz or muff that is???

  • I think i'm gonna stick to my good old friend the "big muff" This one isn't fuzzy enough.

  • How does this compare to the Analogman Sun face Silicon???? They say its best to use a battery, also they haven't got a buffer for occilation, but Jimi Hendrix didn't have the buffer, so did Jimi Hendrix use the occilation to create the space ship noices????

  • @StefanPriceUK no, youre probably thinking of his univibe.

  • Theres a red house over yonder!!!!!

  • thats were my baby stays

  • Red House!!!!

  • THANK YOU for playing some chords Andy. All I can ever find when looking for fuzzboxes and distortions is some dude playing pentatonic blooze for 5 minutes. At least you play chords and riffs too, so we can learn what these pedals are worth in terms of versatility. I mean, yea blues is good, but not every guitarist is a blues hack. Cheers.

also, at 3^05 you almost started playing 'I'm gonna booglarize you baby' by Cap'n Beefheart!

  • Let me know your opinion of the Freekish Blues Coily Fuzz... heard good things would like your opinion of the pedal...interested in getting it...

  • pee ppe

  • Comment removed

  • is it worth adding this along with my muff

  • @leed1984 I own both pedals and I only keep one of them on my board at a time, switching back and forth. I can never make up my mind which one I like better. I think the tone of this one is better, but the Muff adds more sustain. For rhythm this pedal is definitely better. Depends on whether you want to sound like Hendrix or Gilmour, really. :D

  • AWESOME REVIEW MAN!!

That acoustic occilation that we heard when u were playing Jelly 292 was cool, but its annoying when u dont need it.

    :D PEACE

  • red house/...

  • awesome pedal.....would it work good with a bass pedal too?

  • what would you recommend. this or the dunlop dallas arbiter fuzz face?

  • this because it's the exact same thing but in a more pedal board friendly shape.

  • did andy say osiclation is annoying?? wow

  • Don't get the wrong idea haha! It's annoying in this case because the wah range gets limited

  • how much are they?

  • Is this better than fuzz face?

Plz help me im gonna buy a fuzz but i don't know wich's better....

  • It sounds a lot fizzier and harsh than an Arbiter Fuzzface (or copy). IMO a real fuzz face sounds thick and warm, but not as much distorted. Check out the Red House@ woodstock where jimi engages it at about 0:40. Or "Born under a bad sign" at 1:52 from the "Blues" album. "Jelly 292" shows you what a real fuzz face does to a wah. You even get the oscillation that the guy in the video talks about

  • By better you mean?

  • lol what fuzz is better than the other blah. Dudes. It depends on what style you play, one man's trash is another man's treasure for funks sake.

  • still nothing beats a big muff .

  • Is the dunlop fuzz better

  • Great fuzz, had it for a year now. I occasionally use it with my tc vintage dist (t rex mudhoney) and you can get some great smooth tones that way.

  • awsome redhouse

  • Im thinkig what pedal I should buy from these : MXR Custom Shop GT-OD, MXR M173 Classic 108 Fuzz, Ibanez TS9 or Ibanez Tubeking. I mostly play, blues country, rock and hard rock. Any comments what is the best to these genres?

  • very different pedals mate, blues and country then maybe the TS9 will suit (I use one) the tubeking has a valve in and will give you a great distortion ound but is quite a large pedal, the fuzz, well its a fuzz! break out the hendrix!

  • how different is this than the big muff?

  • the big muff is more distortion and has more high end you can introduce to it. this is mainly for jimi hendrix type tones

  • The big muff is closer to distortion IMHO. It's not as woolly, as unruly, and it doesn't clean up with your volume knob. It still kicks ass but is really different from a fuzz face type sound.

  • this is one of the best silicon fuzzes out there

  • Im still thinking, should i buy MXR GT-OD, This or Ibanez TS9. Say your comments from these pedals. (Sorry for my bad English).

  • Yeah, I could put this on my pedal board. A good fuzz is a good time!
