The best spagetti western ever. Ennio Morriconi at his best. James Coburn and Rod Steiger have never been better. The dream sequences in Ireland were filmed in Toners Pub. It's still the same as it looks in the film.

Dear friends I remember from my childhod a homan whistle version of this song, can't find it, been looking for years for the version I mention, any hint??
My favourite film ever. Thanks so much for posting this. Not for the video, but for the music. I shut my eyes through this and just listened... Shom shom - shom shom!
Absolutely beautiful score. The fact it is still played at various music festivals in Europe (ses clips for Ennio M.) speaks for itself. Excellent movie as well. I actually first viewed it upon release in at a theater in Seattle. Still puzzled why the local newspaper reviewer trashed it.
THE MUSIC IN THIS MOVIE IS ONE OF THE BEST, I WILL SCORE IT EQUAL WITH ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST , well to make it fair lets say Equal to the best lol
one of the best western , parallel with once upon a time in the west, my name is nobody, the good the bad and the ugly, trinity etc etc along with other western of the late 60's and early 70'sthe music is wow , during the vietnam war we use to play this before going to battle against nva
An absolute classic Leone film. Steiger and Coburn are nothing short of MAGNIFICENT. But why rename it so stupidly? "Duck, You Sucker" - what a travesty. What was wrong with "A FISTFUL of DYNAMITE"?
In my opinion, this is Sergio Leone's masterpiece...and the score is Ennio Morricone's masterpiece! The music is very nostalgic and bitter/sweet which fits perfectly with the film.
Just saw "Duck, You Sucker!". I can't say that I really, really enjoyed it, but I did like it. However. I hear it gets better with every viewing, so I can't wait for the next time I see it.
One of Morricone's best compositions. Maybe his best. Everything is perfectly balanced: the orchestrations, the tempo changes, the chants, the singing.. maybe it sounds odd, but in it's oddness it's... simply beautiful.

I have just checked the soundtrack album (with bonus track)-this guitar intro version of "Gui La Testa" is not on it-would appreciate any help as to it's source
Man ya'll talk like bitches it's just a great movie no more and no less and by the way there is another man who can direcr this movie and he goes by the name of Clint Eastwood.
Havent you seen Grand Torino yet?
By the way a mercenary chooses for a living of killing an a rebel is pushed in too that way of living. Well that's at least what they think.
In their twilight years, the vanguard of the original IRA were interviewed by a famous journalist and author who discovered that many of these guys were haunted by the faces of the men they had killed to achieve an end - some to the point of suicide. You will see that in Coburn's character. And like any career mercenary, there is only truly solace in the job - see Sutherland's performance in The Eagle Has Landed. To stop, is to face the music, rather than play it ;-)
IRA.... IRB... it's not really the point. what the writer and director captured beautifully in this film was the cameraderie of struggle. The rebellious and irrepressible Irish, protestant and catholic, have always symbolised the romance of vision and self determination. But there is a heavy price to pay for violent insurgence.
great film histooricaly inaccurate irish terriorist? yeah this film is set in the mexican revolution which was i think before the easter rising so the sewing on the handkerchief is incorrect as it says IRA. the IRB would have been closer to that time period but none the less mex revo was 1913 or 1915 so there was no irish groups about then only james connolly. he was a socialist!!!!
IRB was pretty much active in second part of 19 century. There are known cases of dynamite bombs in england during that period. Main character is shown as irish veteran who came to mexico during revolution-so there is nothing historically inaccurate about film!
there is- the handkerchief! it has the letters IRA sewn onto it since when were they about in 1915 they came to fashion late teens 1919 etc. so like i said above *so the sewing on the handkerchief is incorrect as it says IRA* they werent about it was the IRB the director should have referred to. watch the dvd and listen to Sir CHristopher Frayling!
But who is the guy with that face that looks a bit like Frank Sinatra's? I don't think he was in the movie. I thought it was the commander of the dictator's army, but that face is different. It is not even the traitor or the dictatoe himself. So, who is that?.

Rod Steiger and James Coburn are magnificent, and not to forget Romolo Valli as the guy in the shadow. I've seen this movie at least a dozen times, and it has never failed to fascinate me. And the ending is haunting and poignant. Once you've seen it, it remains forever unforgettable.
most under-rated film out. The music is gorgeous, the cinamatography spot on, the cast beautifully balanced. They dont make em like this anymore - a remake would be terrible.
i agree, i think after the GBU, this film is an amazing western. the music is fantastic and there's a charm in this movie that doesn't resound in the eastwood's trilogy.

SlClLIANO 11 months ago
The fact it is resonating because the movie itself isn't that famous like the other movies like Once Upon A Time in the West e.o.
It's a matter of taste and also a matter of time, this movies are very old and very less in the picture like in the old days.
However, like a painting from Rembrandt, a good glas of red wine, a classic car, the older it gets, the better the quality

There's no question Leone was a brilliant filmmaker...up there with Bergman, Kubrick, Hitchcock, Fellini, Kramer, and John Ford.
