  • I hear this and I go back in time. I have so many good memories from around the time this song was released. If I could do it all again, I would and I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you for bringing back some really happy memories for me :)

  • Savage Tune!!

  • Awesome song!

  • I remember playing "The Long Acre" for the first time way back when after seeing the band on some late night TV show - played the album for weeks, endlessly. A few years I met a girl who knew who I was talking about when I mentioned the band - that was a first. "Don't Fear Me Now" remains my favourite song of theirs but this runs it a close second. Thanks for posting this - greatly appreciated.

  • Wonderful song from an underappreciated album! I saw them in Chicago in the fall of 1988 with a crowd that the band said, at that time, was the biggest they had ever played in front of.

  • pure pop

  • I was amazed when I "discovered" this group in the 80's and found out how underrated they were. They are amazing and Leslie has a super voice.

  • Leslie Dowdall was HOT then and she still is now . In Tua Nua brilliant , not manufactured boy/girll band crap like today !

  • Fantastic voice, great song, very pretty girl.

Perfect band? Maybe not but close.

  • not only a great singer but very pretty.

  • Gawd she's so sexy! They were a good band. Much better The those awful Cranberries.

  • 25 years ago today (6/6/86) In Tua Nua were the best band playing at Ibrox Stadium, Glasgow. Who else was there, oh yes, The Waterboys, Lloyd Cole & The Commotions and Simple Minds. No mean feat in the 'No Mean City' !

  • @whisky110 I remember it well, really hot summer that year and that night was thunder and lightning in Dublin and listening to this gig being broadcast on RTÉ radío 1.

  • Wonderful song (and album)! First heard it in Boston (on WFNX-FM) in August '88 ... and then saw the band live in Chicago a few months later. Thanks for sharing!

  • brilliant

  • must have listened to this tune 18000 times myself love it just before simple minds in croke park excellent show

  • Love this group. So underrated. I stumbled accross them by accident. I bought a joblot of cassette tapes and the album 'The long acre' was in there. Played it and absolutely loved it straight away.

  • stonking good tune and like other stuff too, gorgeous singer!!!!!!

  • in tua nua please release this song again and get the new itunes music genaration a classic to buy one of irelands best bands of the 80s

  • Used to dance to this song at the Malibu nightclub in Lido Beach. I always requested this song when calling into WDRE (aka WLIR)

  • @pcetra030965

I miss Club Malibu / The Loop. So many awesome bands that played there. I believe Club Malibu was U2's first stop on their first Untited States tour in 1980. Toadies in Connecticut was next. Joan Jett, Blondie, Apb...I could go on.....

  • @musicman89503 Never did see any groups perform there, we went there to hear & dance to the music that was being played at that time on WLIR in Garden City, L.I. N.Y.

  • one of my all time favourites, just as good now as it was back in its day. CLASSIC

    nikey 1967

  • Bought this on vinyl 12" in the late 80s...great upbeat song.

  • should have been massive....

  • Thanks for posting this !

There was an earlier posting without the video that disappeared from YT.

Excellent quality audio and video too, technical kudos.

  • First time I heard this song I thought it was Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders

  • Yeah song.. brings me back to the 80's... still sounds as modern as it did then

  • Leslie, if you are listening, re-release it..you guys were the biz!

  • Sometimes a record gets released without much airplay. You only hear it a couple times but instantly know what a hit it really is. You try to buy it, but can't find it in the store. Decades later, you find it on you tube and suddenly you're 20 again. It's as great now as it was then.

  • Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Treasure.

  • i seen them supporting simple minds @ ibrox in 1986

  • she has such a beautiful smile too..

  • loved in tua nua ,and still do ,great live ,...

leslie we want a reunion tour PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE..............

  • At last,I get to see this beautiful piece of music, and the artist-come on down to my kitchen

  • great feel good song, she is simply gorgeous too.

  • Brilliant song which brings me back to my teenage disco years.

  • Oh wow... this takes me back. With all the techno and synthi-pop kicking around in '88 it was a breath of fresh air to have this diamond in my collection.

  • 'The long acre' was a fantastic album.

    Leslie Dowdall...what a babe.I had a huge crush!

  • Ah leslie wow.i remember this song well always thought it should have been massive great singer and talented musicians i really thought they had the whole package

  • hi paul,i just have to ask why this band never made it huge, there was so many amazing songs

  • Fab Song Great Band!!!!

  • Another gem from the eighties resurfaces on Youtube. Thanks for posting.

  • You don't need fancy computers, pyrotechnic effects and 'cheesy manufactured' wannabe celebs to make a hit record like this should have been. But most of the world disagrees. I am so grateful for finding this vid and superb recording of an 80's subversive classic. I absolutely agree this would be a hit now, but it should have been them as well. Great Song!!!!!

  • This song should have been a hit world wide. It really is a great song and leslie was so attractive back then.

  • .... and a brilliant bass line too !!

  • I bought this record when it came out and helped it to number 69!!

I heard Peter Powell play it on his Saturday morning show and have loved it ever since. What a DJ! What a record!!

  • I've fallen in love with Leslie - AGAIN!

    thank you for this video!

  • Die Sängerin und das Lied sind toll. Schade das sie bei uns so unbekannt ist.

  • I saw this band in 1988 at the old 9:30 Club in Washington DC. Got free tix and got backstage thanks to working at a good college record store. The band was great and very friendly. I always thought they should have been more popular.

Luka Bloom opened up and he was great as well -- just a mic and a guitar.

  • God, this band was so underrated. What a great song. If it was released today it would create a huge buzz. Ahead of their time, for sure.

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

I love this song sooooooo much!!

I cannot believe I'm watching this now!!

    What a tune!!

Thanks so much for posting, wherever you found this video from, you deserve a medal.
