  • i love the volorization proccesbehind it.

  • the old weekly ritual, sit down with nan and granddad and watch dads army. If only I was 6 again.

  • The sound quality is amazing!

  • Thanks so much for posting this!!! I'm only 16 but I've loved Dad's Army since I can remember, me and my grandad would watch a couple of the VHS tapes back-to-back when I was five, and he bought be the whole set on DVD when I was eight =] As odd as it sounds, Dad's Army is a part of my childhood xD

  • we in the netherlands love all the comic series from england.....frank spencer , george and mildred , are you been served , etc etc but dads army was the best.

  • Ian Lavender has aged well.

  • loved the receptionist jibe "stupid boy" lol

  • St. Wilson and his type are people whom I cannot stand. He is so mean-spirited.

  • I really should start complaining about this video, because my previous YT account had loads of Dad's Army episodes on it. And they had to be removed due to copyright, which would technically mean this episode shouldn't be here either!

But I enjoy them all so much I cannot be bothered, as it is so nice to watch them. I could upload the lot as I ve got every episode that is available, except for the special called "Guarding Buckingham Palace". Although I have got the audio of it...

  • 3:33 for start

  • I think all these episodes are national treasures ..

  • It's not something that can be done with every monochrome telerecording - it depends on someone having forgotten to throw a certain switch that should have removed the colour information at the time.

  • The first two series of Dad's Army were filmed in black and white so would probably be impossible to colourise. Room at the Bottom, as Ian Lavender says in the intro, was filmed in colour but had a black and white telerecording made of it before the original colour tape was wiped.

  • This episode was broadcast in colour 19/10/2010 on BBC2

  • @stamford09 It was first shown again in colour on 13th December 2008.

  • now time to revert all the older dad's army episodes and turn them to colour

  • Impressive colour restoration results from a revolutionary technique. Hopefully many more episodes of classic series can receive this treatment.

  • Hooray! Thanks for posting this. It was great to see an episode of Dad's Army get a bit of TLC.
