Vikings were largely farmers, not raiders. The raiders did kick arse though.

@mistyChacha I don't want to come off sounding like a dickhead so I'll refrain from voicing how much I hate Avenged on an Alestorm vid but if you're in need of some real interesting modern metal, check out Moonsorrow, Primordial and Ensiferum to name a few. They do some really great things instrumentally and I think they're some of the best bands the genre has going for it right now.

@MegaMrPieman Trust me man, everytime I hear someone praise A7x as the modern flag bearer for metal or something like that I die inside. I don't want to start a big flame war here between A7x fans and haters on an Alestorm vid. All I'll say is that I think that there are many bands who are completely overlooked by the American media whose music really captures the epic romantic grandeur of metal and I don't think you can really find that with the "core" bands.

Let's face it, when I was 10 I thought Slipknot was TEH MOST BR00TALEST THING EVER and right now, A7X is probably the heaviest thing being played on mainstream radio etc. so I can understand them. Had I heard early Priest or Maiden when I was young, I probably would have written it off as bad because it lacks gutteral screams and isn't as "heavy" as a band like Slipknot.
