Not Steve Vai's style. Vai's playing is more sterile and clinical, with perfect technique and relies more on tricks and gimmicks with his playing. Hampton reminds me slightly of Clapton insofar as they just most of the time they just close their eyes and let their soul and figures argue about what's going to be played, how and when.
Btw, look closely and you will see he has a similar playing style to Dave Gilmour
Eddie Hazel actually played most of the guitar on Hardcore Jollies with the exception of Cosmic Slop which was played by Michael with Garry Shider coming in for a solo at the end.
