I think you must be a 12 years old, if not if your brain is ok you should understand than raising elephants is part of indian culture since a very long time. These animals do jobs for humans, in return they get good food, water and protection, which is not always available in nature. In nature elephants and all other animals die cruel deaths most of the time, being eaten by other animals, being stuck in the sand or dying of hunger and thurst.

So while you wanna celebrate I'll be planning escape routes and pay the defendant attorney to prove to the unknowing jury that the elephant has a serious mental condition called "will for freedom" and they'll convict him to 2 weeks community service at most and maybe 1 extra week of psychotherapy...

I think you must be a 12 years old, if not if your brain is ok you should understand than raising elephants is part of indian culture since a very long time. These animals do jobs for humans, in return they get good food, water and protection, which is not always available in nature. In nature elephants and all other animals die cruel deaths most of the time, being eaten by other animals, being stuck in the sand or dying of hunger and thurst.

I've met a lot of english backpackers and it seems many of them love animals more than humans. They are very politically correct yet totally unaware of reality in the world. Most of them have rich parents so it's very easy to criticize other cultures and look down on them, as they live in their own protected cocoon. in many cultures keeping animals is a way of living and how they make their life. you go tell the kenyan tribes that it's wrong to keep animals...

elephants can be domesticated, that's what indians do since ages, just like cows or dogs.Cows and dogs can attack people too, but since elephants are bigger they are more dangerous, that's the only difference.
Tigers can not be domesticated, only tamed.

@dimitrieke3 I agree with u, Its a culture that needs respect. My grandma was from a remote area in Malaysia. She told us where the elephants get mad out of the blue and they destroy crops and even kill livestock. Elephants have terrible mood swing that they get mad for no reason, when they do, they need to be put down.

Some dogs too kill children, does it mean that keeping dogs is bad? the crazy dogs need to be shot, just like people who kill other people need to go to prison and should be shot (my opinion).
