Yeah it is. You can hear Daphne's voice standing out singing "with a thousand sweet kisses" and then the person on the corner of the stage who starts singing Finale B is Anthony Rapp.
Some people thing that "LOVE HEALS" is not a song from Rent....well it is! Jonathan named this song Love Heals because its just a slower theme to season of love with different lyrics at the end.... (kinda like THE MAIN LYRICS TO RENT, if you listen closely) (oh BTW, its a never edited into the original play neither the NYTW or the 1996 versions
"Love Heals" was not written for Rent, and was never intended to be in it at all! Jonathan wrote it for a charity actually called Love Heals - the Alison Gertz Foundation for AIDS Education, in support of anyone who had gotten it and in the hopes of preventing more people from being infected. It has nothing to do with Rent whatsoever, though it certainly is just as wonderful as anything actually in the musical. :)
I was there and I was like three rows from where Anthony Rapp came out I screamed and so did my sister. We were already both crying from Jonathan Larson at the beginning and at the end we were balling. My sister saw the show eight times and I saw it six. It was really special for us to be at their last easter bonnet.
O my god... i havent had cold chills like this for a LOOOONG time. Rent and Jonathan Larson were both truly a blessing from god. May Rent and Jonathan Larson's story and legacy live on forever
Adam Pascal was present and performed at the 2008 Tony Awards, as did the 1996 OBC cast and the closing cast.
He was absent from the final Broadway stage version, because he had donated his ticket to a man who was HIV positive - as "Rent" composer, Jonathan Larson, would have wanted.
this was such a beautiful performance! I cried listening to it. the "Don't forget" part stuck out to me...Rent will never be forgotten, it's changed so many people's lives. I can't believe it's over in only one month. D'X
I recorded it for a friend in the cast of RENT. I wish there was a DVD because there were so many funny skits! Did you see the spoof of Legally Blonde that I posted as well? Search for "Legally Black"
There is a professionally shot DVD of this available. Go to Broadway Beat's website (it's both words combined with a dot and a com at the end :) It's done as a donation by the company and all proceeds go to Broadway Cares.
Yes, they invited everyone who was there that had been in Rent to join them on stage. And I agree with you, the OBC should perform the last performance!! Wouldn't that be a treat!! It was fun to see the originals at the 10 Year Reunion and seeing them f*ck up. It was great!!
Yes, it is Lea & Jon (Pre-Glee!) and that is also Tracie Thoms.

hawknelson12 3 years ago
No, Adam was not there, but Anthony Rapp was!
emmjae 3 years ago
@emmjae
Yes, Adam was present, along with most of the 1996 OBC, at the 2008 Tony awards.
He was not present at the final Broadway performance of "Rent" in 2008, because he had donated his audience ticket to a man who was HIV positive.
