  • i was hoping it would be like a dark comedy or something...this just makes it look corny

  • @PentagramSchematic Have you seen or read anything Addams Family before? Aside from some of the comics it was a silly show/movie about a silly family. Charles Addams was mocking traditional living when he was writing the comic. That's what i understood to be his main point, not the humor or the family so much. They didn't even have names when the comics first started being printed. I think you may like the comic strip, but good luck finding it. Tim Burton is making a new movie in 201?, too.

  • @PentagramSchematic That's exactly what the series was like. It looks really fun to me.

  • Vile. Charles Addams must be spinning in his grave.

  • oh my, whats this thing rated? :O

  • Ahhh my adoptive family ;) always loved the Addams Family! I have to see this!! :D

  • I saw it with bebe and brooke and i thought they were both fantastic :)

  • saw this last year when i went on a school trip to new york! it was absolutely AMAZING<3

  • I saw this, orchestra center 7th row on the aisle, on April 23, 2010.

I didn't know Lane and Neuwirth were starring in it before arriving to the theater.

It was my first-ever Broadway show.

I spent most of the show mesmerized (no exaggeration).

Anyone know how Brooke Shields is doing as Morticia?

  • @deuceloosely4711 Brooke? ....HORRIBLE!!! AHHHH!!!

  • Saw this cast last year around Labor Day in NYC...was so great!

  • Oh Timon....

  • I like Wednesday's new design, but I miss the braids.

  • I'm not so sure Nathan Lane is right for that part....

  • great voice

  • 2:03 look at Pugsley he's like "Oh stop it you two!"

  • Wait... Wednesday is supposed to be YOUNGER than Pugsley!

  • Gomez is soooo fat.... :P

  • The woman who play Morticia is sooooooooo beautiful... but the dress is more Elivira's than Morticia's :S

  • I saw this exact cast while I was in New York. It was absolutely fabulous. So hilarious and entertaining. I'd see it again in a heartbeat!

  • Bebe- BORN to be Morticia

  • @PurpleMaster958Two agreed!

  • Bebe!!!

  • This looks so goddamn fantastic. I would have given anything to have seen it when Nathan Lane was Gomez, but he's not anymore :(

  • @Duetman20 true

  • i actually love this ;)

  • dam , wednesday addams ,looks cute O_O <--typo D:

  • que alguien le ponga subtitulos en español por favor!

  • this musical was totally awesome...i loved it to pieces

  • wtf is this.........

  • omg i saw it AMAZING!!!

  • Who else was hoping for a nipslip from the MILF?

  • Sorry I wioll always love Carolyn Jones and John Astin..nathan lane as Gomez (oy vey!) and I do not care for that Morticia..

  • @ GalaxyBlasterX well that's broadway awesome performer terrible role choice, he even sings that in the 2005 producers, a role that fit him right

  • i wish i could watch one sadly i found it on TV and it nearly finished :(

  • Wedneday looks looks almost as tall as Lurch lol

  • At some point, this scene went completely insane. Now the tough question is: When exactly was that point?

  • i see it on danver 20012

  • No one, I MEAN NO ONE beats Anjelica Huston as Morticia....

    Good day:)

  • @Angel5451 Agreed. Though I doubt she could pull it off today.

  • oh i wanna see this, when will it come to the UK? Does anyone know if- like most stage show musicals- ther will be an album coming out on itunes coz i love the songs ;D

  • LOL i need to see thissss

  • I can't help but wonder, just who the Hell thought Nathan Lane fit as Gomez?

I don't even dislike him and I consider that a true example of "good person, wrong role".

  • I LOVE Morticia's voice!

  • I saw the musical on may 25th, Rachel Potter was playing Wednesday and she had an amazing voice. I loooveed the show.

  • I am so proud to have been there to see the debut of this musical :) Thank you school trip!

  • I'm not into Bebe Newuwirth as Mortitia...even though I like her. I just don't get that casting choice.

  • @jckaluv How do you not get that casting choice? She's played Lilith for probably 15 years, who would infact seem clinically dead if she'd stop walking and talking.

Pale, skinny, cold, and gorgeous. I can't think of a better person for the job than Bebe.

  • @brandiralavara5 I don't know it just doesn't work for me. Like I said, it's nothing against her talents. It's not so much her looks...her voice is extremely identifiable, and doesn't seem right for Mortitia. It's not always about what a person looks like...you have to consider the whole package. Heck, Nathan Lane doesn't really fit Gomez either...but he's just so Broadway that he could get away with anything....just my opinion!

  • i love the addams family musical i want to see this but i can`t i live in the netherlands

    greets from the netherlands

  • What I'd give to see this!!! Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth!!!! So glad they incorporated Uncle Fester's light bulb trick too!

  • I saw this play twice and it was amazing both times

  • I saw the show on broadway and it was so good. Krysta Rodregiez and Nathan Lane Were so GOOD!!!!! I could see it over anover again. I want to be apart of the cast.

  • Yeah Gomez is not supposed to be Mexican! That was just Raul Julia's interpretation. Gahh was hoping the musical would be more true to the original comic.

  • @mineowyn he's supposed to be a, spaniard, actually - according to Charles Addams' interpretation.

  • gomez is not a mexican tubbo

  • I saw this. It was really good

  • I hear a lot of people are really mad about this, but personally, I think this show looks awesome and I honestly can picture this as a musical better than I can picture Spider Man as a musical.

  • I'm tremendously shocked knowing granma is younger than Morticia...lol

    Bebe never gets old!!

  • Definately something that I would wanna see when I get up to NYC this summer

  • This is totally badass

  • I think Bebe is amazing. I think she tries her best, I really enjoy your performance. :) <3

  • Lots of people are giving Bebe a hard time about her voice and how she doesn't sound great but I think its a choice. Like something weird she's doing with her voice for the character because if you hear her sing anything else, she doesn't sound like that.

  • love this????!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw the entire musical Wednesday night, pretty great.

  • I love it when you talk sexy.

  • omg this look so good does any1 know if it's comin 2 philly?

  • The show itself was ok. Honestly, I thought Nathan Lane was phenominal in this. He was by far the best part. If anything, see this to see him.

  • Just saw this over the weekend and it was painful. Do yourself a favor and save your money.

  • Mr. Addams really let himself go o__o

  • You now, I saw this for Christmas and it was.....bad. I was really looking forward to it, but if the tickets weren't so expensive I would have walked out. The actors were fine, and some where even great, but the plot was awful and stupid. A bad adaption.

  • RIGOR MOTIS!

  • Bebe is amazing

  • The orchestra needs a bit more oomph. Without that this scene sort of feels... well dead.

  • i wish i lived in or near new york!!!!!!

  • @md1980s They're going on tour! i'm going in New Orleans!!!

  • OMG this is soooo awesome! we're doing this number in our dancing concert this year.. its going to be great.

My favourite part is at 1:36 when Morticia laughs... then shes like serious straight away afterwards! so awesome. lol. i'd give it a 7 out of 10... and i havent even seen the actual stage show!

  • ... oh, this is painful. The songs are terrible. Nathan Lane is awesome, but he's no Gomez. This entire thing is campy, and not in the good original TV Addams Family way. Just... bad Broadway adaption bad.

  • i'm gay, and i think this is gay. not the good gay, the bad gay straight people use. couldn't get past a minute and a half. seriously bad gay.

  • I bet spending an evening trying to flirt with Nathan Lane, even unsuccessfully, is probably more fun than "yes" from most guys.

  • hey. hey. hey... hey.... hey..........hey. That is not how Wednesday's hair is supposed to look.

  • they cut out my fav part of that song

  • in the movie Wednesday is my favorite character

but in the musical i think in MY OPINION she is the worst character

  • @msalsoso it's a very poorly written part i agree

  • @msalsoso you mean because she wants to be "normal" and have a boyfriend? X_X

  • WOW. This truly is a borderline insult to The Addams Family. Especially Gomez. I love Nathan Lane to death but after Raul Julia, NOBODY can play that role well. Just like with Heath Ledger and the Joker. It's basically the role of the century.

  • This an insult to the Addams Family. Nathan Lane is totally wrong for the part. This music is cheesy.

  • rigor mortis! lol I cracked up!

  • They couldn't get a kid to play wednesday? It annoys me quiet a bit.

Still as a fan of the old show I would like to see this.

  • @BlackChinca In the musical Wednesday is supposed to be 18 years old.

  • @BlackChinca You don't understand. Wed is supposed to be in her teens in this and falling in love with a boy. That's pretty much what the play revolves around.

  • i thought Wednesday could be better. But all in all Id buy a ticket to see this. Lane is always fab and u can never go wrong with Addams family.

  • Bebe's vibrato pisses me off, but i still think she is fabulous!

  • I just got second row, center tickets to this and I can't wait. I don't care what the reviews say, with this cast you can't go wrong!

  • Matt and I have been listening to this for days now. Oh, to be an Addams!

  • krysta rodriguez is so Fucking Talented!!!

  • I can't wait till it goes on tour!

  • I loved this !

  • I saw these acouple of weeks ago and yes it was good. The people here complaning that it was bad must of not watched the show that much. It has the same dark humor as its past. Alot of laughs.

  • I love nathan lane, I'm a fan of Bebe.... but... SHITDAMN this is miss cast.

  • my favorite part of this musical was definitely the dancers (the addams ancestors), and their costumes.

  • Hey, Lear it ain't. But the public eats it up.

It has melody harmony and intelligible lyrics. .

Nathan Lane is a classic musical comedy star.

    Eat your heart out.

  • Boadway unhip ? RENT, Spring Awakening, In The Heights..... FAR from being unhip.

  • This show relies on its recognizable characters to create the enjoyment and doesn't bother trying to actually tell a good story. The jokey puns can be seen from a mile away. One last thing: This show uses tentacle porn as a plot device in act two. I'm not even kidding.

  • @dramagirl99 Agreed, it's embarassing.

  • I saw this show last night and I'm hoping this comment will save you a couple hundred bucks. Sure, it has cute moments and one or two jokes that will make you smile, but if you've got half a brain and you're looking for something to stimulate it, this isn't it. Now, I'm not talking about some serious dragging drama. La Cage was upbeat and campy and full of jokes and it was a hundred times better than this show. The jokes in La Cage were actually well written.

  • I saw this on Broadway on opening night.

  • I saw this during my vacation! Totally worth it!

  • That was a reay great musical. The best i saw on broadway this year.

  • Just came back from seeing it. So funny but there were a couple of scenes which weren't necessary and weighed it down a bit. Overall, very entertaining and very funny, especially for us who grew up with the Addams'.

  • I LOVED this musical! My favorite bit was with Wednesday, Gomez and Morticia:

Morticia: Its always with the Lucas! Lucas! Lucas!

    Gomez: Always 3 times?!

    Morticia: *Nods*

    (Later)

    Wednesday: Oh Lucas! Lucas! Lucas!

Gomez: O_O *Just like you said*

Morticia: -_- *See, I told you*

  • i saw this before it hit broadway with my band after performing at the midwest music festival it was awesome!

  • Saw this musical yesterday. :)

    I don't get the joke at 3:08 ???

  • @yourfaceismissing He says "Rigor Mortis" which is the medicolegal term for the fact that you body goes stiff when you die.

    I like this song!

  • I saw it 3 days ago

  • I'm doing this for show choir and I'm gonna be the Grandma!! :D

  • Nathan Lane is the voice of Timon!!

  • @iloveponandzi Nathan Lane is awesome.

  • @iloveponandzi NOO!

  • Yes, Bebe's voice isn't flawless, but it's very full of, I don't know, I just like how much it sounds like her speaking voice. I love her voice. I think she's excellent at playing Morticia here. Anyways, I'm seeing this on Sunday. Super excited!

  • oh, God... jajajajajaja, this is so unexpected and strange, but I really wanna see this!! :D

  • does anyone know how old Wednesday is?

  • @dragoness71998 shes supposed 2 b like 18 and is now "coming of age" yet Pugsley is still like 10. Interesting twist. I'm seeing it tomorrow!! Yay!! =)

  • @dragoness71998 she's 26

  • this is fantastic, the show was soooo funny and the music was great, i love keep playing the cd, nathan lane was amazing and i loved him in the show, nathan lane is a fantasic actor and a fantastic comedian

  • this is truly a good musical. definatly deserves to be put up there with wicked, avenue q, etc.

  • @KeepItGayStageNazi

I completely agree. I saw it this past Sunday and it was so clever and so new from everything else I've seen. Fuck critics. So what if they said it was bad. I liked it. Bebe, Jackie and Nathan were phenomenal as were all the other actors.

    Love this show. :)

  • I saw this on Broadway on April 1 of this year.

  • OMG I love the dance! The Addams family is freakin awesome!!!!

  • My aren't there some nasty posts here. Regardless, the sad part of this show is that a VERY untalented composer was given a golden opportunity and talent was wasted. There are lots of talented, creative people out there and Andrew Lippa is not one of them. David Yazbeck is also awful and he has a new show coming in this season. What a waste.

  • Just by this I can tell that Bebe is a great Morticia! Just by her actions and how she keeps her eyes! lol it's kinda hard to explain! The Show sounds wonderful I really want to see it!!!

  • hahaahahaha!

  • I am very proud to say that my name is Caramia, and that's what Gomez calls Morticia! xD

  • brilliant! and it's made accessible to younger kids too, with the jokes and dancing which is good :)

does anyone know if it's on itunes yet? i can't find it :P

  • i just watched this in new york. it was flawless!

  • Appropriate that Letterman is looking geriatric, presenting the kind of quaint grandma shit that was already tired when he was young.

  • @funboy7979 Quaint grandma shit? I was at a Tony Awards party the other day where all the guests were all 18-29 (and there were quite a few of us). I'm 24 and know many, many, many other twenty-somethings and teens who love theater and musical theater. And can I just point out that what we do in a theater is sit and enjoy entertainment, which is exactly what you do when you go see a concert or a movie or even watch a tv show? Theater is hardly quaint grandma shit.

  • @funboy7979 First of all, I don't see what my name has to do with it. One's online handle hardly says everything. My opinion on The Addams Family musical is that their are a few well done songs but overall the music is forgettable. Personally, I'm mostly a fan of the old classics and cult hits with a few current gems like Next to Normal thrown in there. I'd hardly say anything is a safe brand name currently on Broadway though with shows closing left and right.

  • @funboy7979 oh shut up with the cynicism

  • @WickedQueen314 To be critical of cynicism is not cynicism itself. You embrace the product of cynicism, making you part of the problem.

  • awesome

  • whats with gomes and wendsday

    ???

  • Stage Right wasn't lit very well. I feel sorry for Jackie Hoffman.

  • Honestly, I think that while Bebe Neuwirth doesn't have the best voice, there aren't many actresses nowadays who could play Morticia like she can.

  • @talesgamer54321

    Bebe Neuwirth is so hot

  • @talesgamer54321 I totally agree!! Unless they get Angelica Huston back... or try out Angelina Jolie or Helena B-C...

  • I actually saw this the day after it opened.....so amazing. best musical ever

  • this show was amazing if you ever get the chance to see it you must cause it is awsome!! some crude humor but it fit in well with the show

  • I loved this show in Chicago. The only thing I had a problem with was the fact that Wednesday's character completely changed. Wednesday was always my favorite character.

  • @jokeris1

Yea he throughput the show will call her Cara Mia and so forth. :)

  • the little boy sounds great!! his little solo was awesome!

  • Did Gomez use trademark phrases like "Cara Mia" or "Cadida"when he talked to Morticia?

  • the only good song in the whole show. ive never seen lanes talents so wasted

  • I love the Addams Family and as a musical its even better

  • please tell me this show is still gonna be playing in august

  • Comment removed

  • Krysta Rodriguez aka Wensday is so beautiful, IM IN LOVE!!!

  • I saw this in previews, I loved it!

I wasn't a big fan of Bebe as Morticia, the wobble in her singing did it in for me. Morticia is supposed to be a sweet, sultry, sexy, motherly-like character. I just didn't get that feel from her. I got a very (pardon my french) b****y feel from her. But anyways, I LOVED how they made the chorus as ancestors in all white and from different eras! Kevin Chamberlin is magnificant as Uncle Fester, and Krysta Rodriguez blew me out of the water as Wednesday!

  • @missmay2013 I know. i saw it in chicago. and honestly Bebe's singing was AWFULLL. i just didnt like her at all as morticia. believe it or not i thought SJB would have been really good as morticia. Bebe just wasnt funny or intriguing. she couldnt hold her own..and I thought I was the only one who didnt like her Morticia.

  • @Xwildwoodxflower Agreed. I think we just might be the only two that realize that her in this role was a no no.

  • @missmay2013 hahah i think so. :) I just hope they got her singing lessons and it's improved since chicago. cause everyone else is fantastic. and she just cant keep up with them!

  • @Xwildwoodxflower Lol she definitely did not improve! I saw it in New York and she was still... "ehhh"

  • so cool. lilith as morticia!!

  • Oh man. I wish I could see this. But i l
