Only 3 years ago this was a sad area where drug deals happened in day light...it took the effort of the local community and the help of the police to make this a place were we feel safe and proud.....I remember closing my business on weekends because people involved in illegal activities owned the streets. Police was some how too tolerant of this and we called the police many times (theydid not like us complaining)..then we com[lained directly to th mayor and slowly things improved...
I can't wait until the demolish that parkade on Front Street and bury that railway. If this land was in Vancouver you just know their mayor would have jumped on the opportunity to build a spectacular billion dollar waterfront. this is prime land and we've got a train on the SURFACE that desperately cries out to be buried below ground with every blair of its horn. I hope the mayor also puts those so-called "heritage buildings" on notice to clean their shit up. They are falling apart...
...and being "heritage" does not excuse itself from looking like a sorry sack of SHIT. I dont care if it costs millions to fix up...if you dont have the money you dont let the building stand ruining the potential of the neighbourhood. We are sitting on amazing real estate - we need the right people who are willing to make this place rock! I hope we dont have to wait another decade to see further progress. Lets get this party started NOW!
That "railway" is comprised of three very profitable railway companies and is a major transfer point to Surrey and beyond linking an extensive network across Canada and into the US. I agree with the parkade coming down, but as for your dream of burying the railway? It will never happen as long as we have trains in North America. And I'm sorry to say, the trains were three a hell of a lot longer than you. If you don't like trains, you shouldn't live in New Westminster.
Great way to show what this under construction site will look like. As a resident at the Quay, I'm excited such a development is being done for two reasons: first, to provide needed services and retail stores close to those of us at the Quay as well as downtown residents and second, to hopefully clean-up the present Sky Train station through the power of having more people in the area, discouraging loitering and other nefarious activity.
Can't wait till it's finished. Station looks awesome but the graphics of the video and the music are awful. Still better than anything i could do. lol
Going from Ki Sushi then to the movies is going to be awesome now.

I love how the doors of some buses are on the wrong side of the coach. Makes it look like we're in Europe somewhere.
