I think he meant that you could take the items from the chest and then resale them to shops and stuff. if this didnt answer you question please let me know, im happy to help

you don't need to wait 2 days. Just talk to the blacksmith and ask "what you have for sale" and quit the chat. his chest will get filled all the time.
