Thank you for The Deck of Cards, I grew up listening to Country. Today I went to visit my old aunts, and along with my mother, they asked could I find this song. Easy to find the song, but the only one they wanted was from Red Sovine.
@montana44820 I have to disagree. I think it was written back in WWII, because the oldest version I have found on you tube was done by Hank Williams back in the late '40's.
the first time I heard this song was when I first got out of jail, and my mom played it for me which made me change my ways immediately and I've been straight with God ever since
Wasn't Red Sovine underrated. He had the perfect recording voice. His greatest hits CD is brilliant, he doesn't "Deck Of Cards" on it, but there are some great songs on it, even if some are the biggest tear jerkers ever. Songs like "Teddy Bear" (crippled boy) Little Rosa, Giddy Up Go, Roses for Mama, just to name a couple.
Anyone wanting CD, was released by TEE VEE records TVCD0700. Red Sovine's All Time greatest hits. Red and the great Johnny Cash had the best voices ever for narrating etc.
this is for all the men and woman who is fighting the warright now and for those that haved died fighting for us canadians and we should all pray for them and that they all come back home soon.
this song is so old, but sadly - very sadly, remains true to this day. I loved it then (for no other reason than it was played by my parents) but means so much more to me these days because no-one of my generation should have to see their "kids" go off to war (political or otherwise) I do not judge just hope that every mum's little boy comes home safe and sound xx
Glory to be to God in Heaven,.. how much better off this world would be if we all remembered to give our glory to God and thank him for all he has done for us.
