A beautiful piece that I never get tired of hearing and sometimes playing. Love Ken Griffin's music and he had a distinctive style that is difficult to copy.
I can never get tired of hearing this. I used to roller skate to Ken's organ music many years ago. Thhose were the best years of my life. It bings tears to my eyes as I listen to the organ music.
Whoa! Back in the late 1940s and early 1950s this little record was played at EVERY American rollerskating rink. Thanks for bringing back those memories....girls wearing layers and layers of crinolines under their skirts while rolling around the rink...kids laughing a lot...kids seemed to be happier back then,
LOL Soap Opera music! All kidding aside though, I have a whole Ken Griffin Columbia Records album of that, and I enjoy Ken. He did a lot of "needledrops" for roller skating and that vocal version [by a guy named Jerry Wayne] may be one of the first instrumental track first, vocal track next, in other words, kareoake style done in the studio, and you can kareoke over the instrumental! Long before the term was even coined!
Yes, a lot of rings had that..you know? Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park,Orange County, Calif.,m still has that 1955 organ soundtrack in their "MIne train ride".
Such a lovely piece. Brought a tear to Eye & seems now can't get this off mind. Connie Francis too, she sings it soooooooooo Beautiful. TOP 2 For this Song.
Thanks for posting this along with the covers of the various albums of Ken Griffin. I still have a lot of His 78's yet, still in good condition, including this selection. Ken sure was one of the finest Organists going & did so many different things on the Hammond. A true Artist.
I'm 60 now but my mom loved Ken Griffin and this song so very much. When I was 2 years old mom got a radiophonograph for her birthday and this record she always put on last so that it would play over and over again. I was a captive audience since I was fascinated with watching the record changer drop each record between songs.
Another old favorite is Naughty Waltz
As well as a record album of Romantic Waltzs.. Love Cecil waltz on that album and "I remember when"
This was the record that first got me interested in Hammond organs. I bought the record and played it over and over it is from this that my life with music was started, I do not regret any part of it. 5 Stars. BryanHereford.
Yes I am, I'm in my 60's, My husband and I both play organ. So nice to sit down and play the old songs. Ken Griffin, Ethel Smith are always nice to listen to.
Great organ playing from Ken Griffin. Thanks for sharing. Many years ago there was also a vocal song in german" Du kannst nicht treu sein " very succesful
DU KANNST NICHT TREU SEIN (Hans Otten / Ken Griffin / Gerhard Ebeler) Die Lustige München Musikanten Du kannst nicht treu sein Nein, nein, das kannst Du nicht Wenn auch Dein Mund mir Wahre Liebe verspricht In Deinem Herzen Hast du für viele Platz Darum bist Du auch nicht Für mich der richt'ge Schatz
