I respectfully disagree. I don't think there was any irony at play at all. This is a cheap production for kids with limited props, with everyone hoping that their young audience wouldn't notice. I'm just surprised that cast and crew couldn't see that this was extremely weak. Although.....on a production like this, I doubt input from cast and crew to the producers was not very appreciated, so everyone just got on with it.
