  • I WAS A BUSBOY AT A HOTEL IN THE CATSKILLS AND MICKY BELL PERFORMED THERE MANY TIMES....THE HOTEL WAS THE PLAZA IN SO.FALLSBURG N.Y.

  • Thank you for this and the others.

  • My mom told me he dances like a faggot. lol

  • @Quetzalqoatl99 How classy of her.

  • @Quetzalqoatl99 Looks like the apple didn't fall far from the tree. Go back to watching Jersey Shore or whatever you young idiots do.

  • @DevoBassGirl: Stupid bitch just because i am young doesn't mean i don't watch black and white tv shows but i do. I DON'T watch Jersey Shore or any other shows like that. Don't assume shit like that to people you don't know. Dumb cunt! lol

  • Nice to see Joan Davis. A very funny and underrated gal. Died much too young.

  • The quick clapping move makes me really uncomfortable.

  • There's an urban legend that Cantor requested his tombstone read "Here I lie in nature's nestle, free at last from Georgie Jessel."

  • Isn't the gal who appears as Susie played by Joan Davis?

  • @WytZox1 YES! Another beloved star who left too soon, Joan Davis could be

as funny as Lucille Ball when she had the right material. As for Eddie Cantor,

I remember his movies & TV show when I was a boy and he was really one of

the finest fathers, husbands & Americans ever. His Cagney-like bounce and

"banjo eyes" made him a favorite of us kids, & what a sweet guy too!

Cantor Quote: "Its nice to be important, but its more important to be nice."

Words to live by! RIP Eddie we miss you.

  • This is what happens when you let octogenarians on the internet.

  • @nsofast I'm not that old (28), but I'm sick of hearing these dumb kids complain or not know about anything that took place prior to 1990. God forbid you should get some knowledge and culture! Sheesh!

  • Accepting advice for New Virtual Time Travel to the Era of YOUR choice....

  • This is what Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra sing in Anchors Aweigh, referring to "Aunt Susie" (Kathryn Grayson)

  • He must have been incomparable on the vaudville stage. And at the end of this clip, Cantor and Joan Davis. Two of the greatest.

  • Like if your name is Susie! Mine is xD

  • Love the eyes!

  • I always hated this song and didn't care much for Cantor, but my feelings aside, he was one hell of an entertainer. He gave 1000 percent.

  • My song! Lol x

  • Susie's brief speaking makes her sound like A-Pack-A-Day Girl.

    "Pack a marlboro lites?"

  • @yuritim They didn't have that brand in those days, feller.

  • @lazurm but they had Feller, fella

  • @edo91639 Tell me about your dad too!!!!! totally cool he knew those two...John-hans

  • Holy cow the girl on the left (his right) is beautiful. Anyone know who she is?

  • @therealasiacarrera I THINK SHE IS SISTER TO THE GIRL ON THE RIGHT

  • @caloscalante1518 Exactly what I was going to say!

  • Love it!!!!

  • Talk about CAMP! Wow ...

  • does anyone have al jolson recording of this song?

  • Jolson would disagree!

  • "Susie" resembles Meryl Streep to me

  • As mentioned in 56Edify's post, the girl on his right is Joan Davis,

  • Who is the girl who is on Eddie's immediate right?

  • Joan Davis. She later starred in I Married Joan

  • When I was kid I first saw a movie shown on the "late late show" on NYC television. The Eddie Cantor Story. Liked him ever since then. Didn't the woman, Joan Davis, act in Hold That Ghost with Abbot & Costello?

  • This is the 1948 movie If You Knew Susie.

What an astonishing entertainer Eddie Cantor was! He was before my time but I discovered him (thanks to YouTube) a couple of years ago and he just knocked me out. Brilliant!

  • What was the film? Mum always sang this song to us when we were kids.

  • Does anybody know the name of the movie and the year it was made?

  • Eddie Cantor the greatest entertainer EVER. I met this gisnt at age 5 in my hometowen . he said "A good jew always talks with his hands." I followed his advise. so true. The greatest ever on film, radio stage tv, BANJO EYES himself. YOUTUBE should put him on Colgate Comedy Hour for all to see. Humanitarian. activist ,show biz legens, legend & lover of mankind & God, .Im a tv film historian .i knew msny old time performers but EDDIE is the best. Bless him. TOMK a man who knows what he likes

  • Quite shapely women!

  • He never had a moustache - you are thinking of Gerry Colonna.

  • I always loved Joan Davis..she was talented and beautiful just like Lucille Ball. We'll remember you, dear...

  • Yes, she was amazing. What an astonishingly sad ending and short life she had.

  • I'm a longtime Jolson fan, and I'm just discovering Eddie Cantor. What a great talent! Thanks for posting.

  • Well then you'll love Cantor! He has tunes just as catchy.

  • One of his most famous songs. Thank you for posting.

  • yes he is!!!

  • I love this movie. It is such a fun, happy musical.

  • classic

  • Oh, what a girrrl!

  • LOL! Thank you : )

  • Great to see Cantor with the wonderful Joan Davis. It's sad to think that Joan died so tragically and Eddie passed only a few years later. His high energy fit the Cantor name. Only heart troubles later in life prevented him from carrying on to the end in 1964.

  • The gal in the video looks like Joan Davis of the: "I married Joan Show" with Jim Backus as: Judge Bradley J. Stephenson

  • It is Joan Davis.

  • Was her show aired before the "I love Lucy show? or after? Squirrels probably followed here around...she was funny.

  • "I Love Lucy" aired from 1951-1957, not counting the hour-long specials. "I Married Joan" ran from 1952-1955. Although some regard Davis's show a knockoff of Lucille Ball's, their comedy styles were different.

  • By the way, Cantor fans, a MUST READ is Herb Goldman's book, "Banjo Eyes."

  • You guys know that Cantor and Davis were quite a hot item. Poor Ida.

  • Micky Bell in the catskills? no idea.... tell us about him

  • Absolutely a joy to watch this man. Does anyone have WE'RE STAYING HOME TONIGHT from Thank Your Lucky Stars (WB 1942)? If so can you post it please?

  • Eddie Cantor...a true classic.

  • This makes me smile.

  • Grand, Cantor!! Who do you compare his rendition with that of Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly in Anchors Aweigh?

  • What year was this?

  • He was one of a kind .... but Joel Grey reminds me of him a lot ....

  • the second part of the clip has him pairing with joan davis, another great ham.

  • About as classic as classic gets.

  • Now THAT'S entertainment!

  • Eddie Cantor! Oh, what a guy! He was one of a kind and a fantastic entertainer. Thanks for sharing him here!
