I hate winter

What was it like in your area last weekend? How much snow did you get? We got a bunch of it down here. I was really surprised to see two different ice/snow storms during December in Atlanta,GA. That is not normal for us. I have an impossible dream because I now wish that it won't snow in Atlanta for another 1,000,000,000,000 years. It's unfortunate that this will never happen. Oh well. Have a happy new year and stay safe.

Actually, the only thing I like about snow is driving in it. I have an all wheel drive sports car with winter tires so it's fun.

What would you do if black ice on the road caused you to get into an accident? Black ice is difficult to see and it is very dangerous. Ice can also be covered by snow.

@rottiefan I don't take big risks. If you hit pure black ice, you're simply going to go in the same direction. So I take that possibility into account and give myself enough room to compensate for it. But pure black ice is rare around here and is usually only in small patches. Regular ice and snow is fine though. It's easy to test the levels of grip and have a little fun. :)

Last night I was watching the news again and they had another report about a house fire that was started by someone using a space heater. This is the second time in less than one month that this has happened in metro Atlanta and I want it to end so much. I despise winter.

You should be glad that you were not in Atlanta two nights ago. We had black ice on the roads and about 1200 accidents happened because of it. It was disgusting. This included a 15 car pile-up, cars that flipped over, abandoned cars and closed freeways. Abandoned cars on the roads made it harder for the GA DOT to put the salt on the roads. Even the parking lots of businesses had ice in them. I totally despise this winter weather and the calendar says that winter starts on Dec. 21st!

I also have Carhart fleece lined blue jeans and L L Bean flannel lined blue jeans. I love these clothes because they are so warm. Do you own these types of clothes? I'll bet money that you have to wear them up north.

When I wrote that I'm bundling up like an Eskimo, I really meant it. I'm wearing my underpants, bra, wool snowsking socks, longjohns, snowskiing pants, flannel shirt, sweater, and Ugg Australia boots. When I go outside, I also wear two muffler scarves around my neck, a coat, a hat, and mittens. This is the standard way that I dress during cold weather.

Hi xskax. How are you doing up in New England? Winter has come too early again and I'm already sick of it. It is freezing cold down here with the temperature being about 30 and the windchill makes it feel like 18 degrees. Last night on the news, they were talking about people who had broken heaters in their homes and that is disgusting for people to have this problem. This makes me feel sorry for them. I'll be changing my filters on my heaters asap. I'm already bundling up like an eskimo.

How cold is it in your state xskax? It has been so cold down here that I put posters of Hawaii up on my bathroom walls so that I can think about a warm place.

I'm dreading the weather of April because this is when we tend to get blackberry winter which is very windy and cold. The pollen count is also very high and pollen gets blown around everywhere. Then too many people have problems with allergies.

Its winter was warmer than the likes of Dallas, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia this winter season (avg. temperature). Considering this region of Canada also has the lightest average wind speeds on the continent, it had a much milder winter than Dallas and MUCH milder than Atlanta this last winter season! Need Proof?

Last Saturday was the first day of spring and it was very warm. I absolutely loved it. Then it got cold again yesterday and it is still cold today. It will be cold very night until the end of March. I hate this cold weather every night and I want it to end asap! I'm sick of it.

One thing that has been annoying me about winter is that the flowers aren't outside during the winter. This made me buy some flowers at the store last week and I did this again earlier this week. I want my home to look and smell like a springtime garden. I'm hoping that this will improve my daily mood during winter by cheering me up.

I'm glad that I bought a seat cushion for my driver's seat in my car. I plug this into the accessory power outlet and it heats my seat and keeps me warm. I have been enjoying this a lot. Do you have anything like this for your car?

I know that we have been complaining about winter and the bad winter conditions in the USA. However, I'm still glad to be in the USA and I'm relieved that we aren't In Haiti right now. We are so much better off than all of the people in that poor country and I never want to trade places with them. That sure was a horrible earthquake.

i hate when you cant get all the snow off the walkway / or when people walk on it and it packs down / then it builds up and turns to ice. and my snowblower leaves a little snow behind and that packs down.

Here is another thing to hate about winter. Too much ice and snow on your roof can cause a horrible problem called ice dams because ice gets in your gutters and under the shingles of your roof. Then it melts and causes a leaky roof,damages your ceilings as well as causing mold and mildew. All of this is gross and expensive to repair and it can also make you get sick. It is truly a nightmare. Do you use deicing cables to prevent this problem? Which ones work the best?

we don't have too much trouble with ice at my house but at my work we have them on the roof to prevent killer icicles and law suits

Another thing that I hate about winter is that some people are either too ignorant or too cheap to get a chimney sweep to inspect and clean their fireplaces before they start burning logs to stay warm. Creosote can build up in fireplaces and cause your house to burn down when you burn wood. This happened in Atlanta, GA this month but it shouldn't happen anywhere.

Another reason why I get mad on New Year's Eve every year is because idiots start shooting their guns up in the air. They never know when or where their bullets will land or who or what the bullets will hit. A 4 year old boy was killed this year. I won't shoot my guns unless a violent criminal breaks into my home and attacks me. This is another reason to hate winter.

We had absolutely horrible weather last week here in Atlanta,GA and it included an ice storm. There were about 500 car accidents that happened last Friday and one of them was a 26 car pile-up near the airport. I absolutely detest that disgusting black ice because it is a menace and I don't want to be anywhere near it. I didn't leave my home until Sunday afternoon because there was too much ice on the roads.

Why on earth on you driving drunk? It is so dangerous to do that during anytime of the year and it doesn't matter where you live when you are doing this. You can be anywhere in the entire world and you always need to be sober while you are driving a vehicle. I knew a woman who was killed by a drunk driver in the early 1980s.

Another reason why I hate winter is because the leaves fall off of the trees during autumn and we have to wait until spring to see the leaves again. It looks depressing when the leaves are not on the trees.

Here are six more reasons to hate winter: winter allergies, cold season, flu season, it's too cold to go swimming or ride bicycles, you can fall and hurt yourself when you are walking anywhere.

There are some more reasons to hate winter and here they are: pumping gas for your car when it is cold, taking out the garbage, taking a dog for a walk when it is freezing, windy weather, rainy weather, getting out of a warm bed into a cold bedroom, cold steering wheels and cold seats in cars, it takes several minutes for cars to get warm, bringing logs inside when it is cold, getting the mail when it is cold, feeling sorry for wild animals who have to live outside in the horrible weather.

Here are some more reasons to hate winter: homeless people freezing to death because they can't get into a shelter, high utility bills that people can't afford, power outages, heaters not working because they need to be repaired, people who don't bring their pets inside when it is too cold, cold bathrooms when you get out of the shower, scraping frost off of cars, cold hardwood floors which make your feet freeze, and wall to wall carpeting that isn't thick enough to keep your feet warm.
