And back to Charlotte Church vs Girls Aloud: Charlotte I would pick for classical, dirges, religious, opera. And I would take Nadine Coyle any day for jazz, soul, pop. Looks like a lot of people feel the same as Charlotte's singing career tanked when she tried to cross over. She does have a beautiful voice, I agree, but it is best suited for certain styles. Other singers have at least equal value in other domains.

I love both Girl's Aloud and Charlotte Church. What Charlotte said may have sounded mean and she could have been a bit modest about her ability but, to be honest, I think Charlotte would sing any song better than Girl's Aloud especially if it was live. Their singing ability is on a different level. Charlotte is a classically trained proper singer - no comparison with Girl's Aloud. Having said this, I prefer the songs Girl's Aloud sings - they have good team (composer and producer).

You think they would do better than Michael Jackson, David Bowie, James Brown, Dolores O'Riordan, Beth Gibbons, etc....So those artists are of lesser ability? That's a narrow view, tbh Emily. It's different styles, apples and oranges.
