Definitely watched this before the starwars vhs tapes I had in my house including all the original aired commercials from the same time period. Good days.
When I see and hear this wonderful and EPIC logo and music, it reminds me of our old VHS of the musical Scrooge... :') *<3* As well as the original Star Wars trilogy.
@tyler60396 I'm not quite sure I understand that haha but I have a guess. :) Are you referencing the line said by tiny tim in the movie Scrooge(one of the VHS's that had this CBS/Fox intro at the start)? I'm probably way off haha but that's what it reminded me of. =P Peace.
this was first seen on vhs copies of "Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi" and "S Club 7 in Miami: Vol. 1" (the CBS/Fox Video logo follows after some 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment logo fades to black, followed by the BBC logo).
The music is called "National Trust", composed by Keith Mansfield. It was recorded in 1978 for the Bruton Music Library of London England and found on their LP volume BRN 1 "Heritage". This is the fanfare only, the full theme runs 1:58. CBS/Fox Video used that 17 second fanfare under paid license to the Bruton Music Library.
Reminds me of the Rocky movies. I used to see my grandmother every other weekend, and she would always rent Rocky 2, 3, and 4 for me because I loved them so much. I think I've seen those movies 10,000 times each, and I still love them. Partly because they're great movies, but also because they remind me of my grandparents. Thanks for posting this...brings back a lot of good memories from my childhood.
hahaha, I just had an intro to film class today and this came up, the first time i saw it was when the red wings won the cup in '97 and this was the intro on the vid
Wow, I haven't seen this intro clip in YEARS. I was reminded by it when my mom and I rented a vacation home, and it had a VHS with star wars in it. I played it, and it seemed like this was in the back of my brain.
I have this on my brother's old VHS copy of "The Albert Achievement Awards." It's followed by the NBC Sports logo. The tape is from sometime between 1991 and 1993.
@crazyfunny23 yes I agree and I really love this logo too I first remember seeing this in my Aliens VHS and those were good times! Very excellent and a classic logo!
I remember this logo from when I was a kid back in the 80's, boy it brings back memories, my favourite video logos from the 80's were channel 5 video, c.b.s fox video, c.i.c video, entertainment in video and guild home video, I think it's a shame these logos are not around anymore cos they were the best, I say bring em back as dvd logos, cos modern day logos are shit.
@MrSteveo80 I Love the CBS FOX Logo, its a classic and the way it starts was very epic and so very 80s and I loved it. this is my favorite Logo Ident,it brings me back great memories and watching 80s movies.I miss this so much.I also Love the Virgin Video 1986 Logo i am a big fan of nostalgic 80s Logo Idents.
This was one of the long-lasting logos from 1984, until 1998(in which throughout most of the 1990's, specifically from 1991 until 1998), the company's releases would alternate with Fox Video releases, meaning that THIS logo would be seen, mostly after Fox Video's logo, which CBS/Fox Video had re-named it's company into, though it continued to release VHS releases also with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment finally until 1998.
Taken from the 1989 VHS of "Die Hard", the 1996 VHS of "War and Peace", "Wallace and Gromit: A Grand Day Out", "Wallace and Gromit: The Wrong Trousers" and the 1995 VHS of "Wallace and Gromit: A Close Shave".
You're wrong about Enter the Dragon - Warner Bros. put that timeless classic out. Now, Bruce Lee's other movies did have this, as did original releases of the Star Wars trilogy. I also have a copy of Michael Jordan's Playground, which if I'm not mistaken also has this logo.
I remember seeing this logo in those Garfield VHS tapes and also on the 1980s VHS release of the Pink Panther movies (The Return of the Pink Panther was also in the package, making CBS/Fox's release the only time ALL the films, including Return, were released together).
I remember this most from when I watched BBC Britcom videos, as well as Doctor Who videos when I got into that as well. It was such a shame that CBS/FOX ended and Warner Home Video started distributing BBC video in the US... their logo is BORING!
In 1996, when I watched the My Fair Lady video, I have not seen this logo but the CBS Video logo with the CBS Eye which has in the CBS Enterprises byline in 1997-98. Can you upload the 1996-1998 CBS Video logo and not the CBS/FOX Video, please if you see it? Thanks.
Thank you for uploading this logo! I've wanted to view this one for long and is that logo that i talked about during my comment on the MGM/CBS Home Video logo.
This video made me sexually happy.
