Apophis is not large enough to cause the end of the world. It is big enough to affect the world climate but not to the degree that the whole world is wiped out. To the neysayers, yes Apophis is real, yes it is a NEO or near Earth Object.

Then the sun will shrink because of gravity and turn into a white dwarf for the rest of its life. Though this will happen in around 12 billion years or so. Won't effect us.But in 2036 there is a asteroid that is most likely going to his earth,but it can easily be moved by a Satellite being placed or even shot down

Apophis is 270m(not km) in diameter. This one is the size of a small moon! That's the difference. Some people won't be even affected much by this. It certainly can't destroy civilization. It will only make a tsunami wave that's going to wash off shores (about 1,2 km deep). It will be worse than Japan tsunami, but not the end of the world!

Everyone seems quite calm about this. We're spending out money on IPhones, and IPads, instead of developing technology to get the hell off this rock when Apophis hits. This in not science fiction like the 2012 doomsday scenario. There's hard science behind it. It's going to be a near miss in 2029, and a possible collision in 2036. It'll get closer every 15 years, until it hits.

Actually if you look up the 'JPL small body Database browser Orbit diagram'(available online) of Apophis(and then click 'show orbit diagram') on Dec 20 2012 you will notice Apophis is at a close approach to the Earth. I'm not one of those fringe science people however...I just think it is a cool coincidence...I might even raise the awareness of this close approach with those fringe people just for fun, I'm sure they'll freak out! Also check out April 14 2060 & 2091, both close.

It's on a 15 year cycle, and will get closer and closer until it either hits something else like the Moon or keeps missing until it spirals out again. The thing about 2036 is that scientists say it could enter a "keyhole" area between the moon and earth that can lock it into an inevitable collision with Earth.

@catraquinze Cant see the point really - realistically, the world wont just "end" - there will be bloody obvious signs for some period of time before hand :P Relating to the video, when the asteroid is 10 years away from Earth it will be close enough to accurately prove whether it will hit or not beyond a doubt.
And if God decides to end the world before at some point before then, then there is nothing you can do and we'll be going to a better place anyway ;)

What the fuck? That's not Apophis! Apophis isn't some dead planet. It's an asteroid 270 metres wide. The odds of it actually hitting Earth are 1 in 250 000. Even if it was going to hit us, it's not until somewhere between 2029 and 2036. That's more than enough time to devise a way of blasting it out of the sky.

Asteroid Apophis will definitely won't impact Earth in, 2036.
Around the year 2029 it will orbiting us, but it won't enter our gravitational keyhole.
It is about 300m wide, so even if it does, it will break up into smaller size & burns up in the atm.
