some points are quite interesting there. when the Gundam was shot out, it carrys a bazooka, but the next camera shows him carrying a beam rifle, and after it lands on the island, it only carry a shield... same as the doan's zaku, it has been damaged on its head, but when he prompting his final move, the head is fully recovered!!! ps. doan zaku will be later featured in some gundam games... serving as the most powerful and fastest MS ( in gundam UC is faster than the RX78)

Partly the reason why Tomino-sensei decided to opt out this episode from the US English-dubbed release~ the Zakus were drawn substandard, used stock footage erroneously(e.g. the infamous magical 'rifle to bazooka' swap) and the story does not lend heavily to the main plot. It is a pity.

The acting for one. It's ridiculous, and so dry that they may as well be grade schoolers rehearsing a play. The animation is slightly worse than in the rest, the fight with the Zaku has come out of nowhere, with no real reason, not to mention Amuro's paranoid behavior that makes him look like some brat. Overall, the whole thing could have been executed better.

@BTIsaac That and the episode is unexciting and really does nothing for the series at all. I like the idea. Amuro meets a Zeon and find out that he's not a bloodthirsty murderer like he envisions them all to be. Except that Amuro doesn't seem to really learn anything from this nor does the audience really get moved by the story. Alsoit has a sappy ending. in the end the story seems half assed, and if say this show was longer than a half hour, they might have had more time to develop it.

@BTIsaac u do no this was made in the 70s right. of course ur gonna think it sucks ass compared to the modern gundam series out there but at the time this show was good. besides amuro is like 15 and hes killed lke 50 people by now, and hes almost been killed of course hes gonna be paranoid. would u complain about our troops comin home from war with post dramatic stress disorder. i doubt it. and that still didnt answer my question as to why this ep didnt get dubbed.

I was talking about this particular episode. And it wasn't dubbed because the author requested it, because he KNEW all the things I said earlier, and was afraid it will affect the overall image of the rest of the series.

@andredanielgiant back in the day all the cells were hand drawn and colored and all that junk. Which is a ton of work. So if they can reuse the same few scenes for the same thing happening it just cuts down on the amount of work you have to do to achieve the same thing. Give the geezers from 79 a break.
