  • This was so beautiful. Amazing, beautiful girl! <3

  • WOW!!!!! That was deep...I definitely admire your courage of coming out to everyone in high school and I applaud you for that.

  • :) you just made my life a lil easier

  • i wish i was as strong as u r :)

  • hell yeah gurl u hold ur own :)

  • That was a beautiful, powerful speech, and by the end I was in tears. I wish I had had the forum, or the courage, to do what you did, when I was in high school. Well done!

  • What a brave, inspiring, incredible young lady :) Good for you for being true to yourself. You are beautiful inside and out.

  • I am not gay,and dont know anybody who has come out,but I fully support it.I mean what harm is two women or two men loving eachother?why can't they be together?I'm not religious either, although I support religion as well and respect others lifestyles.I don't know what the bible says about gay people, but I was brought up to respect people and their differences because that makes them who they are,and I am going to raise my children like that knowing that respecting others and loving others diffe

  • Thanks for that inspiring speech... I myself is lesbian... Pretty everyone knows but some people just don't wanna believe it because they feel disgusted by it.. I tell them u hate on us gay people because you don't have a life but it's not gonna affect us because we stand on r own u two feet... I have a girlfriend and I love her...-3

  • You read the bible wrong Barney. Gay or not/Right or wrong..

He still loves you a lot more than you know realize it. He always will accept you for who you are. It's wrong to be gay but I'm sure God still really loves them. No matter how many mistakes you make he will always accept, now God is a friend to count on am I right? :)

  • @Aviebizzydfreak6 im with you. Im lesbian too. People can just be so mean. But i love myself,i have a gay uncle and friends.

  • @MrBarney524 yes youre still pathetic you dumbass asshole.. no its not a choice. it a way of.living. bitch.

  • BB Baby Dike

    DOT Dike in training

    Vagitarian

  • I need to meet this girl <3

  • You chose to be gay.It is a gift from God for you not to be with anyone.

  • @MrBarney524 are you freaking kidding me? So i chose to be lesbian? I woke up one day and told myself "hey, youre a lesbian today." so im guessing tomorrow ill say "nah. youre straight now.". Youre pathetic. Being a lesbian wasnt my choice. I was made this way and fortunately i love it. I love being a lesbian. I love knowing that i can still love like any other human being. You didnt chose to be straight. You were made that way. I love myself. And people like you make me laugh.

  • @Aviebizzydfreak6

I am glad I made you laugh. It's better than crying.I chose to be straight. You chose to gay,so what!It doesn't make you,or me better than the other.Am I still pathetic?

  • @MrBarney524 you saying that she cant fall in love and she cant have sex just because you and bible said so. you have to understand that the bible have been written by human. half of it is truth and half is nonsense. bible was a gift to a man who had ambition to manipulate people. he probably hated gays so he has written it down. i think god is love. so he is not going to put someone to hell. its not a human being. god is not stupid like people...

  • @TheTheLeela

Your betting your life on it,so that's your choice.Kayla said she prayed to God about being gay.He didn't answer her.I chose to take the high road.Good luck

  • that was soo amazing.

  • I ahte to advertise on the most moving video, a video that took my breathe away! but an hour event on MTV titled "it gets better" is on tonight, 11/10c :)

  • Very good speech I agree with Kayla 100 percent, I'm sure your speech has and will touch the hearts of many people.

  • Very good speech I agree with Kayla Kearney 100%

  • Comment removed

  • @MrBarney524 i guess you are a guy. so imagine this--you are heterosexal. you love women. now someone tell you that you must stop love them. what are you going to do? your body wants you to love women.and you cant change it. its imposible. thats how gay people feel like. they cant change. their bodies are atracted to the same sex. So they can be with who they love, or they can be alone.to be homosexual is not a choice of a person. its a choice of a body, hormones.we cant judge her for that.

  • @TheTheLeela

This is what gay people do.... being with a particular sex is not a choice!

If a woman also lie with a woman,as she lieth with a man. They have committed an abomination.Now...is that a choice?

  • @dontshootmesanta Just shut the fuck up. Your degrading words are honestly no freakin match for what she just said.

  • Dude I'm crying her speech touched my heart and made me so happy and I'm still crying. It was the most beautiful courante outstanding thing to that. Thank you so much for telling these people your story (even though she probably won't see what I'm saying) thank you sooooooooo much

  • You go, girl! <3

  • this girl is a real hero! GOD bless her and her girlfriend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MrBarney524 Clearly God hasn't blessed you either.

  • fuck shes amazing :')

  • GIBBY?!! Is that you??!

  • Fucking. Amazing.

    That takes true courage.

  • .. And you can't beg God to not let it happen. God gave us free will, he gave us the right to choose. If you're apart of Christianity: Everything that is right and wrong is stated in the bible. If you know that what you're doing is wrong, and you still go along with it,it's you're choice. He wants you to repent and come to him on your own. That's probably why many straight people/religions say you "chose" to be gay, but they're not as calm as I am lol

  • I'm straight and I don't believe in bullying/humiliating human beings because of their sexuality. I don't believe sexuality can be compared to racial oppression either, because they're totally different. Your sexuality is apart of you, it's not who you are. You can't compare it to race/ethnicity.

  • @16brooke1992 like yeahh about the martin luther king thing but you dont see people protesting on streets anymore or being segregated. it's the past and the world just keeps spinning

  • This girl is such an inspiration!

  • Wow, what an eloquent speech that describes perfectly the process of self-discovery. Such bravery!

  • That was truly beautiful

  • Hell fucking yes!

  • why do people always feel the need to let the whole world know? im sorry but its not necessary. its no one elses business what u r and if u want it to be that way i suggest you not make it such a big deal. ok your gay life moves on

  • @silentswan12 People feel the need to share it with the world because thousands of gay teens are TAKING THEIR OWN LIVES. Would you say to Martin Luther King "Okay your black, life moves on" ? No. Because when people are trying to make a difference in such a small minded world; Where any differences from the decided 'norm' of humanity are shunned and/or rejected from society. There is an obligation within that community to speak out and stand up for what is right.

  • @16brooke1992 You, my friend, are a wonderful person

  • So inspiring. <3 I have gay relatives and I'm SO thankful I live in Canada where gay marriage is legal everywhere, and not always referred to as "gay marriage", but simply "marriage".

  • My left ear enjoyed the introduction.

  • This has helped me, because I like girls and I feel comfort now with who I am. This girl helped me realize that it's not wrong, and I shouldn't be shamed. Whatever her name is, she saved my life. Without hearing those words I would probably have ended up taking my own life. Thanks to this woman, I will not be taking my own life. I will be standing up for it.

  • I'm straight, but, in my opinion, true love is still love.

And there is something that I once saw in a movie with autism that relates to many things and that I say each time the situation asks me to: "Different doesn't mean less!".

  • Amazing.

    Inspiring.

    I. Love. It. <3

  • this is just..i cant even put it into words..wow..amazing..

  • Wow

  • There are tears in my eyes at this moment.

  • That was really strong

  • wow. amazing.

  • i think she should be our nations presedent

  • @CMDeiTos why? because she gave a speech?

  • @LastSoldier115 Not because she gave a speech, but because she made a speech with passion, about something she believed in, and not just for her, but for all the LGBTQ communtity. Because of her, how ever many people were in that assembly hall, and however many people watch this video, are going to think twice before they act wrongly towards gay people, and they are going to stand up if they see people being bullied because of their sexuality. This girl is saving lives!

  • I've never been so proud

  • wow look. middle class cisgender white person complains about how hard it is to be gay. please, tell me more.

  • In the words of Barney Stinson: damn, we lost another one...

  • @vijanatrix LOLOLOLOL

  • This is great!

  • Church, and the way men portray the 'perfect' or 'acceptable' or 'decent' woman, are to blame for these struggles. This girl is incredibly brave and as a fellow lesbian who is out and proud, I just have to say keep going and don't let anyone tell you that you can't.

  • She's so brave.

  • She looks so strong. congratulations.

  • you are an amazing person, i went through this myself. i begged and begged god not to let this happpen, i lost god in the process but im much happier now.

You are a very strong, brave girl. and i wish i had the chance to know you when i went through this struggle.

  • @HadSidSingas Congratulations! ^__^

  • This video really changed my life. Right after I watched this I finally had peace about my sexuallity. I could relate so well. I'm not exaggerating when i said I saw it and finally knew for 100% sure.

  • I wish I had the bravery to tell my whole school this.

  • @swan142

Why? Why don't we deserve to live? Why can't gay people just live their lives and you leave them ALONE? Why do you care so much? You are a monster but I will REFUSE to hate you. You hate me all you want but I will still not hate you for your ignorance.

  • @Justinisinthebuildin Agreed. People like that are not worth the effort.

  • I go to school with kayla's sister Lindsey and this really is beuatiful. I feel honored to be remotely linked to this... hero.

  • @Swan142 WTF is your problem!?!? They have every single right to live! People like you disgust me...

  • @swan142 so, if your brother or sisiter is gay, u would kill him or her by yourself? u such a MONSTER.... NO ONE DESERVE TO DIE. INCLUDING U, MONSTER!

  • Wow. This was amazing. I wish I had the courage to say something like this to my parents even.

  • all i see in these comments is god this god tht. U cant help wat u feel, && since god created us he created gays.(: everyone is special & can love who ever they want, its their choice.

  • shes brave - why do you have to be so hateful... you dont have to like her, you dont even have to watch this..., yet you come here and tear her and other people down. Everyone has a right to be what they want to be!!!

  • Xool.

  • i'm speechless.

    she's just so...wow.

it's amazing how one person can stand up & say all the things she has said throughout this entire video.

  • This is so inspirational, not only to members of the LGBT community, but to anyone who is afraid to be different for fear of being rejected. Thanks for the powerful words!!

  • the audiance is soo quiet!!

  • Mchs fools...represent:)

  • Wow. So brave. So honest. So inspirational. Amazing. Im crying..speechless. I have so much respect for you doing this. Wow.

  • Ohmygawddd you beee BRAVE AS HELLL YOU TELL EM MUTHAFUDGERZZ!!!! :D

  • sometimes the bravery of kids astounds me.

  • That was amazing...

  • you're incredible!

  • that was so amzing:)

  • OMG! I Have deep respect for you! Your courage and strength inspires me. Your so BRAVE & BEAUTIFUL! im.... speechless... <3

  • You're seriously one of the bravest people for standing in front of your peers and making this speech. You're an inspiration and to every other LGBTQ person struggling with their identity and other problems, being internal or external. Because of this I've become more accepting of my sexual identity, more than ever and I'm no longer afraid of what others think or say about me.

You and that speech are my inspiration. Keep telling your story to help others like myself. Nothing but love

  • I look up to you so much much for standing in front of all your peers and saying your gay. i could what you did but when comes to my family i stay hidden in the closet i wish i could do what you have done i am only 14 and im tired of lies. when should i tell my family?

  • To you, and every young person with the strength to know and express who you are, I tip my hat to you!

  • Wow. This speech is so moving..

  • she should have just she liked cunt

  • I am totally for what she said, people should not be shunned just because they are different from what others may call the norm. If those who are heterosexual are allowed to live their lives and be able to fall in love, then homosexual couples should too. And I am all for gay marriage, it may be different, but isn't almost evrything in the world is. If nothing was different, then the world wouldn't be what it is today.

  • I think that people shouldn't discriminate, based on differences. People who want to run other people's lives should just worry about their own. In my opinion I think Gay Marriage IS OK. And we shouldn't deny anyone their right to marriage. Every one deserves the right to be happy. And have equal rights.

  • @GM154 I'm a catholic and the Church teaches me that I'm supposed to love gay people even more then others, but just not say that it's ok for them to get married. I have nothing against gay people, but for some reason a TON of people think that Catholics hate gays.

  • I have the utter most respect for you, that is all.

  • You are so beautiful and brave and well spoken. I think I literally just fell in love.

  • I could tell she was a lesbian LOL she didn't need to do this.

  • She should speak in front of Congress about gay marriage.

  • I cried, I'm still crying.

  • That is so beautiful :'D I am so pleased to see such a brave courageous girl..I always knew I was attracted to men..took me a while to realize what was happening.. Then I felt sick and prayed to god everyday to make me straight...but now, I wouldn't change it for the world. It's a part of me that makes me different and I'm proud of that!

  • you made me cry because i wish i had the courage that you have to be okay with myself being a lesbian, u give me hope that ill be okay some day soon!

    big lv peace :-))

  • @1989dannielle Man up!!!

  • @Tweetybac12 you're pathetic. she's amazing, and there is nothing wrong with it.

  • *massive high-five*

  • @rainbowmuppet Make that a three way high five ;)

  • this is amazing, i feel proud of her.

  • I wish I would have as much courage as she does.

  • that was amazing.

  • I have so much respect for u, honestly u have so much courage and ur an amazing person. i know how u feel my heart goes out to you!

  • you are such a brave and amazing person, i love that you would do this and how you just stand in front of a whole skool to help out the people who are gay.

  • Kayla, that was real gutsy of you! Hope all is well after the Assembly.

  • That was deep.

  • high school is so small, so many things beyond it

  • "She doesn't even go here!"

  • @TheRecklesslifestyle OMG LOL THIS IS BRILLIANT

  • That was awesome :'D

  • Who has mlk assembly's in High school

  • This is what we need !

  • Is this the Maria Carillo in Santa Rosa?

  • @jenneacombs94 Yes, according to the tags on the video.

  • your bravery is extremely admirable

  • i just fell in love :) ahha you are AMAZING. i wish i could be like this. though my school does know I'm gay, i still want to be soooooo open like you

  • I have so much respect for you doing something like this. I believe that we are all equal and we all deserve love. I am heterosexual, but that doesn't change what I believe about equality. My love, support, and respect goes out to you for standing up for this huge and controversial issue. I hope you have a long & love-filled life. You are a lovely, beautiful person, Kayla!

  • amazing

  • Good speech, weird breathing from the person recording was kinda distracting...

  • Your brave and so pretty!

  • I admire the courage it must've taken to do this. It's unfortunate it had to be done, though. People should be accepting of homosexuality in the first place.

  • @rapstreetz o so when did you choose to be straight???

  • I think the gayest part of this whole thing is the speech itself.

So you're gay. Write a book.

  • @rapstreetz You iza stupid... The world kinda hates gay people...

  • @Stormsoul22

    Your mom.

  • @rapstreetz Oh, and how the fuck would you know that? Did you choose to be straight? Have you chosen to be gay because of the media? You have no idea as to what you're saying. Unless you are gay, you have no means to know what you say.

  • @rapstreetz There is homosexuality in nature. And seriously? "Retard"? You couldn't think a little more before that word choice? I'm just a little disappointed that there can be so much ignorance in one comment.

  • @alacarmina

Homosexuality in nature? You got to be kidding me. Where did you learn that, from your little tv in your room? Internet? Why bother using another word? We are not in some kind of formal English lesson. This is the internet, get used to it.

  • @rapstreetz 450 species have homosexuality, humans are the only homophobic ones... who is unnatural now?

  • @Stormsoul22

Hahah are you serious? Comparing animals with humans? Are you seriously stupid? How can you compare intelligent human beings with animals of a limited brain capacity? Also those species are not homo because they can produce offspring compared to human beings homosexuals. Please go back to school and pick up your brains.

  • @rapstreetz They HAVE homosexuality, not saying that ALL of them are homo. Please stop being and ingorant fuck and just accept it. PEOPLE ARE GAY, GET OVER IT!

  • true that

  • YA STUPID ASS THERE IS HOMOSEXUALITY IN NATURE! get an education and you would know that. it doen't affect you or your little brain so why don't you just stop bullying n shut the fuck up. people don't choose to be gay. it's science so your bible thumpying ass can go to heaven for hateing those who are different from you. id rather go to hell with all the accepting people. bye now.

  • Jesus is the answer, blah blah blah.... Im a Christian, and I say Fck H8t, you're perfect just the way you are darlin'

  • @zachariasgirl17 oh

    my

    god

    There is hope after all.

  • Speachless... amazing!

  • I can say this: if I fell in love with a girl (I am a girl) I would so ask her out. Love is blind, so to speak.

  • @sinisbal To me it seemed as if you awas trying to tell everybody they was doing something wrong. wrong for being them. why else would you be on this kind of video about people comeing out? oh wait let me guess you're just voiceing you'r opinions right?

  • Chills

  • This was a great video. I am extremely proud of you for being so brave and so confident.

I am a 29 year old, out lesbian and you have truely inspired me. Keep being you and disregard all the hate. For as many that hate you, there are twice as many that love and adore you. I am one :)

  • Applause

  • Applause

  • @sinisabal Being gay is not an illusion. I am gay and head over heals for my bestfriend. and she's head over heals for me. if you're saying being gay is an illusion you're saying us being in love is an illusion. and i know the love i feel for her is not and illusion. so go back to you'r church, and leave us "gay" people alone. we never asked for this , to be gay. but we are. we can't help it. it's us who we are.

  • @TheSuperwaaaa No problem. I wish you only the best. Just so you know, every word that you said here, I felt too. I thought and lived the same way. The issue with any sin is that it feels good. Being head over heals sounds so wonderful. It is nothing but the feeling. And feelings change. Always. I was gay. I couldn't help it either. But I saw what was happening in my life. Then Jesus, not a religion, but Jesus healed me because only He can do that. It is the best Love. Bye.

  • @TheSuperwaaaa Oh, and by the way, why did you reply to me? I was writing about myself and my experience and I was voicing my opinion. If you are as happy as you said you were, where did the need to defend yourself come from? This question is for you, I don't need the answer.

  • go head girl! you're so brave. congrats!!

  • I find it unbelievable how brave this girl had to be to come out to her school like that.

  • just beautiful! i love her, totally a hero in my book!

  • You know what's disgusting? That society is so judgemental to people who are bi, lesbian, or gay. Love is love. No matter what form it's in.
